Mixed Media For Cardmakers

Welcome everyone!!! Happy Sunday!!
Today I invite you to pull out some of your ephemera, chipboards, mediums, and more to create some CARDS… Mixed media style.
I’ve made 4 cards using a lot of the same supplies. I started out with one sheet of 9×12″ watercolor paper and cut it in quarters. I taped them down to my Travel Glass Media Mat and got to creating!

I’ve colored the background papers with Distress Inks in Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap, and Evergreen Bough. Tim Holtz Crackle Paste was used to add texture to the background and frames followed by paint and ink.

Antique Line Distress paint was added to the metal pieces for a Shabby Chic look, I just used my fingers to apply and a paper towel to wipe off the excess. I stained the Bouquet Flowers with Evergreen Bough and Vintage Photo Spray Stains.

Book text is always a favorite element of mine, in the card below I create a cone shape with an opening for flowers. I stitched all of my cards with a sewing machine to give them added texture.

The card below shows that you can leave your elements clean by not coloring the Baseboard Doll, Quote Chip, and Flowers. It has a nice bright feel to it.

These cards do have some bulk to them. I’d send them in a bubble pack to keep them safe in the mail. I hope I’ve given you the inspiration to add some Mixed Media to your cardmaking. Enjoy!!
