Art Journaling: Colorful Sunflower
Welcome, everyone!! It’s Shari here with an art journal inspiration for you.
Sometimes I just want to make something pretty, something cheerful, without having to think much. I’ve decided to use some of my cardstock scraps for my circle journal. I’ve taken inspiration from a mug that was given to me. It has a single, beautifully colored sunflower.

I pulled out some heavy cardstock to draw 3 different size petals and cut them out to use as templates. I selected cardstock that I thought would work and cut the petals using lights and darks of each color family.

When it came to the center, I die-cut circles and hand-cut jagged edges. To finish this off, I added dots of Glossy Accents.

I have the entire backside of this page to add my journaling. I’m inspired to make different versions of this design using a variety of mediums.

Reprise: Honoring the Brave
Hi readers! Happy 4th of July weekend! (Please note this content is a reprise from 2015!) If you’re reading as a US citizen, we’re celebrating our day of Independence and I’d like to say on behalf of the entire Simon Says Stamp Team, we are very grateful to each and everyone that has served in every shape and form! In this spirit, we asked the always fantastic Laura Bassen to make a card for us to showcase with this theme, and this is what she came up with! A combination of embossing paste, From Us stamp set, (editors note: as this older stamp set is discontinued, for a similar look try our Patriotic Service Stamp set or Proud of You die) Diagonal stripe stencil, and of course the Falling Stars stencil!
Don’t forget to watch the video (& sing along ;))! Enjoy!
