Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: August 2020 Card Kit Inspiration!
Hello friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you today sharing an interactive card I’ve created with our August 2020 Card Kit, Picnic Parade!
This fun card design doesn’t require any special tools or products! Simply cut any die from the pattern paper in the kit and tie the two together with a bit of string or twine. I’ll show you exactly how I did this in the video below.
The die cut I used was our Simon exclusive Watermelon die (sold separately from the kit). The Bar-B-Cute papers included in the Picnic Parade kit worked perfectly for “coloring” the die cut. I stamped a greeting from the Hello Sunshine stamp set (also included in the kit) inside the interactive, pivoting watermelon.

Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Cut Out Leaves

I had been watching the Tim Holtz demos over the past few months and have tons of different colorful panels that I created over the past few months, especially with Alcohol Inks.
I wanted to create a card to show off one of those panels today using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Cut Out Leaves dies. This kind of die with big open lines really lets the colors shine through.
To create this card, I started by making an Alcohol Ink Panel by dripping Alcohol Inks in Dandelion, Gumball and Turquoise onto Yupo Paper until I got the color combinations I wanted and let the panel dry.
I cut a panel of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with a rectangle die, then arranged the leaf dies on the panel in a pattern and cut out the leaves. I took the Alcohol Ink panel and cut it from the same size rectangle. I adhered the Alcohol Ink panel behind the cut out leaves panel with Distress Collage Medium.
I cut the word hello from a piece of colored Kraftstock and backed it with a piece of white cardstock. I adhered the Alcohol Ink backed Leaf Panel to a card cut from Paper Bag Cardstock using foam tape, then adhered the word hello for a quick and simple card.

The Sunflower Wreath stamp set may be often used as the full frame of flowers, but I thought it would be fun to partially stamp the wreath on the edges of a slimline card panel. This gives a new look to a stamp set – I love the framing the edge stamping gives my sentiment.
In the video below, I also feature a fun die cutting technique using the Thanks Honey Script die. I cut it from multiple Autumn-colored cardstocks and the stacked die cuts create a complimenting greeting for this card.
