EZ with CZ: Simple Techniques

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday and welcome to the latest edition of our blog series EZ with CZ where the awesome Cathy Zielske share clean and simple cards that anyone from a beginner to a seasoned crafter would love to make! Be sure to watch the video for more information and enjoy!

Hey Simon friends, Cathy Z here and today I want to encourage all of you who might be more in the beginner card maker category to keep it simple when trying new techniques! I started making card in 2017 after years of crafty endeavors, and if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s easy to get discouraged if what you try doesn’t work out the first time!

My advice is to keep your techniques really simple at first and build your confidence and skills slowly. I like to say that when you try to write a creative check that your body isn’t quite ready to cash, you can feel a bit discouraged! But I’m all about encouraging simplicity to help you find success in your crafting!

In my tutorial today I will be stamping, embossing, ink blending and die cutting. But, every step is simple and this is a design you can practice with any ink pads you have on hand. Heck, the stamps are so simple you could also fussy cut if you didn’t have the dies. (But I did design coordinating dies to make it even easier!)
Plus preprinted sentiments are really easy and fun to use. Be sure to watch my video showing you the steps below!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! And remember: keep it EZ, friends!

Here for the Boos
Hi friends! Happy Monday! We hope you had a wonderful weekend! We’re delighted to welcome back special guest Cheiron Brandon for this fun and creative card showcasing a fun take on a Halloween card! Be sure to read on for more information, and enjoy!

‘Tis the season for Halloween cards. I love creating Halloween cards and sending them to friends. I am always looking for things in my craft stash that I can use all year long. One of these things is the Tim Holtz Sizzix Happy Hour dies, I love creating cocktails for all seasons. Today I have created a Halloween card with some spooky sparkly cocktails that are sure to put you in the Halloween mood.

To create this card, I started by cutting three cocktails from the Tim Holtz SIzzix Happy Hour dies. I cut the “cocktail” parts from glitter paper in Halloween colors and the glasses from grey kraft core cardstock. I assembled the cocktails and gave them a few fun Halloween accent..including a creepy eye inked with Mushroom alcohol ink, and some die cut bats from the Gatekeeper die Set.

For the card, I cut a panel of watercolor cardstock and stamped and embossed the web from the Stampers Anonymous Life of the Party set with white detail embossing powder . It makes the perfect backdrop for this spooky get together. I cut a shelf from Distress Woodgrain cardstock that I had sprayed with Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stains. I cut the ‘screws’ for the shelf from Metallic Kraft Stock.

I adhered the shelf to the panel with Distress Collage Medium in matte, then I added the cocktails to the shelf, popping up the center one with foam tape. To finish the card, I stamped the ‘I’m Here For the Boos’ sentiment from the Stampers Anonymous Life of the Party set.
