Retro Flakes by Cheiron Brandon

Hi friends! happy Friday! We’re delighted to welcome back special guest Cheiron Brandon with some gorgeous holiday inspiration! Read on and enjoy!

For this card, I wanted to combine two of the newest Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Christmas stamp sets Retro Snowflakes and Christmastime 3 to create a card with a real retro feel. I used Metallic Distress Paints for a festive holiday feel and added a few baubles using the Idea-ology Metallic Droplets.

To begin, I cut a panel of Distress Watercolor Cardstock to 3 ¼ x 8 1/4. Then I stamped my sentiment using Black Soot Distress Archival Ink. Once my sentiment was stamped, I put some Distress Metallic paints in Tarnished Brass, Brushed Pewter and Antiqued Bronze onto my Glass Mat.

I used a Ranger foam blending tool to “ink” up my stamps by dabbing my tool into the paint, then dabbing off slightly, then applying to the stamp. I stamped the snowflakes all around the sentiment to create a pattern.

I always start with the largest flakes and fill in with the smaller. Be sure to wash your stamps off as soon as you are done stamping, you don’t want the paint to dry on them.

I added black splatter to the entire panel using Black Soot Distress Paint and a Distress Splatter Brush. You can use mask paper or post its to cover the sentiment while splattering.

Once the splatter was dry, I inked the edges of the panel with a foam blending tool and Pumice Stone DIstress Ink.

Then I adhered the panel to a card cut to 3 1/2 x 8 1/2. For the final touch, I added some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Droplets to make the card really shine!
