Art Journaling with Shari Carroll: Focus

Welcome, everyone!! It’s Shari here with another entry to my Tim Holtz Travel Journal. I wanted to do something different with this page and revisit an old technique with an open design image stamp, Perfect Pearls, and stains.

Once I had my background created, I glued the panel into the journal backed with a decorated Mini Slimline envelope. To finish the front, I added tiny die-cut envelopes, Quote Chips, and Sentiment Labels. These little envelopes can hold tiny messages and thoughts.

The Slimline envelope was dipped into the background when the stains were wet, once dry I covered part of it with Tim Holtz Entomology Collage Paper. This envelope can hold a #10 tag for additional journaling.

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: 2 Easy Birthday Cards, 1 Technique!

Hello there, friends! It’s Nina-Marie Trapani and I am back with a brand new installment of Studio Monday! This week features Reverse Confetti’s Big Flower cover plate die, but you could do this technique with other cover plate dies!

I gold foiled a white piece of cardstock with the Big Flower cover plate first using the Gemini Foil Press machine. After foiling, I also cut the cover plate from white cardstock, which is meant to act as a stencil to the foiled design. Using the cardstock die cut, I ink blended through the “stencil” and colored in the foiled pattern. That left the die cut panel colored as well, which created a second panel for me to turn into another card – this is a two-for-one!

On the die cut panel, I decorated in between the flowers with gold confetti sequins. The panel is also matted with gold mirror cardstock and I added a birthday greeting from the Simon exclusive Birthday Sweets stamp set.

The second card is created much the same way, but with colorful gems in place of the gold confetti!
