Not a Card with Nina-Marie: Clay Heart Wall Hanging

Hello creative friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you! I love making home decor projects, and I thought it would be fun to take some clay and create a heart wall hanging for Valentine’s Day! Now if you don’t want to make a wall hanging, you could adapt this idea into simple ornaments that you could give to people you love!

You have the option of using either pre-made or homemade clay cut with cookie cutters. Because of the fact that I was making so many of these hearts for this wall hanging, I opted to use homemade clay. The recipe is a combination of 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, and 3/4 cup of water. To bake the clay I set my oven temp at 180 degrees F and baked the hearts for about and hour and a half.

To color the hearts, you can use paint and alcohol inks. I used both for my hearts to create a variety of designs.

The only other embellishment I added to these hearts were a few Gumdrop Hearts from Tim Holtz.
Be sure to watch the video below to see all the steps I took in creating this wall hanging! It was a lot of fun and would make a great decor piece leading up to Valentine’s Day!

Stinkin’ Sweet Lawn Fawn!
Hi friends! Happy Saturday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Chari Moss to our blog with a super sweet card idea showcasing some new and beautiful Lawn Fawn products! Be sure to read on to learn more! Enjoy!

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a Sweet Valentine to share with you using some new Lawn Fawn products. For this card I am using the new Scent With Love Add-on stamp set, but any of the new Scent With Love skunks work great for some super cute valentine cards. I chose the happy little skunk from the add-on set as well as a heart balloon and box of candy for his accessories. The images are stamped in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and colored with Copic markers, then cut out using the coordinating dies.
For the background panel I used the new Lots of Hearts Background stencils with Lawn Fawn Ballet Slipper ink on Ballet Slipper cardstock to create a tone on tone pattern panel. This panel is cut using the Outside In stitched rectangles which gives a thin white mat around the panel and a nice stitching detail. I also added some pale gold paint splatters over the stenciled background for some shimmer.

The smaller panel is die cut from Bristol cardstock and ink blended using salvaged patina and peacock feathers. I like to use Bristol cardstock when I want a soft color blend. I added some water splatters and white paint splatters to the top of the panel to bring that texture from the heart panel onto the front panel behind the images. Another favorite technique of mine is mixing fonts and sentiments. On this card I mixed a stamped sentiment from the Scent With Love Add-on set with a die cut Scripty Sweet sentiment. After layering all the panels onto the card base and adhering the images using foam adhesive, I added my favorite Liquid Stardust to the sentiment, balloon and candy box bow. I hope this has inspired you to make some fun valentines with your supplies. Thanks so much for joining me today!
