Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Please join me in welcoming special guest Caly Person back to the blog with this gorgeous and colorful project to share with you in the latest edition of Crafty with Caly! Have you ever tried faux watercoloring? It’s FUN and EASY! Read on to learn more! Enjoy!
Hello there! It’s Caly here with you today! I’m sharing a colorful card using the Mixed Alphas cling stamp. This red-rubber cling stamp features large alphabet letters. To make it colorful, I’m using a faux-watercolor technique.
I used Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Wilted Violet to blot ink onto the stamp set. Then I re-wet the ink by spritzing it with water. Then I stamped the wet pigment over Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.
You can stamp again (and maybe again) to create more panels, but the results are going to be lighter each time. Here’s a bonus card with that second impression I made without re-inking the stamp.
Wetting the stamp with water allows the color to not only reactivate, but the colors blend together to create a beautiful watercolor look!
I finished with a sub-sentiment that I stamped and die-cut from the XL Teacher Greetings set. I hope you like this colorful card! Thanks so much for sharing some time with me today! ~Caly
