Our newest collection to Love: HUGS!
With tenderness and affection, we present our latest collection: Hugs! Hi there! I’m thrilled to be on the Simon Says Stamp blog today, with a card featuring the adorable beaver from Wood You Be Mine? Even though it’s a Valentine’s set, I had an idea to use this little cutie for Christmas, and I think he turned out dam cute!
I don’t know how you organize your stamp sets and dies, but I have all of my Christmas stuff together (the rest of my stash is all willy-nilly, and to be addressed at some point) but for Christmas, I know what I’m doing. I pulled from a lot of stamp sets for this card, but everything was so accessible that it was easy.
I started out by creating my card base. I used a sheet of Moonstone cardstock, and heavily ink-blended Deep Sea ink around all of the edges, before using Moonstone ink to just gently blend it into the original cardstock color in the center.
Then, I used white texture paste and the Snowy Sky Stencil to give the background that winter night look. To frame out the scene, I used the Snow Flurries Backdrop die.
I then stamped out all of the images, die-cut them, and colored them using Copic markers. My favorite part? giving the beaver a little gingerbread cookie to hold! To make it look like he’s really holding the cookie, I stamped a second beaver and cut out 1 paw. I then simply glued it on top of the original paw, sliding the cookie underneath. I only did this for one side, since I didn’t want to obscure the gingerbread man!
