Mixing Stamps and Stencils! Studio Monday with Nina-Marie

Hey there friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with another installment of my Studio Monday series! I am using products from La La Land Crafts, which include the Wonderland stencil set and Marci in Wonderland stamps. I’ll be mixing and matching items from both sets to make this darling “wonderland” scene!

By mixing the stencils from the Wonderland set, I was able to create this detailed background that looks so cool behind Marci! I added a marquee detail around the edges with our Simon exclusive A2 Marquee dies.

The sentiment on my card is from our Simon You Shine stamp set; I liked the style of the font with the scene and the greeting was as sweet as Marci is!

Layering Stencils for a Quick + Simple Love Card: EZ with CZ

Hi friends! Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a great weekend! Please join me in welcoming back special monthly guest Cathy Zielske for a gorgeous CAS (or EZ ;)) card idea today! Read on and be sure to watch the video for all the details, and enjoy!

Hello Crafty Friends! Cathy Zielske here back with another installment of EZ with CZ. Today I am sharing a fun way to get more out of your stencils by combining them. Take any basic shape stencil (I am using A2 Masks, which feature rectangles), and combine them with any pattern stencil of your choice (in this sample I’m featuring Chunky Knit) for really fun contained results.

For this technique, you’ll need ink pads in pairs, one being lighter and one being darker. The Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink Trios are perfect for this technique. You start with the lighter of the two shades, and blend into fill out the shape you are creating. You will use the darker of the two shades for the detail from the pattern stencil.

It’s such a fun way to create a contained shape with a beautiful pattern overlay. Here is my video tutorial showing you how I created today’s card:

I hope this inspires you to look for your stencil stash and come up with some fun combinations to try this technique. I’ll see you back here with another card project next month!
