Abstract Poppies Hello Card: Yippee for Yana

Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)

Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!

I love all things abstract and I wanted to create a bold, bright, colorful abstract background for this card. I love the new Poppy Field stencils from Simon Says Stamp and I thought about a different way of using it. This stencil is designed to be used with the coordinating stamp set which adds a stamped outline to ink blended image and completes the look, but I wanted to try using this product, the stencil, alone, without the coordinating stamp set to achieve a different type of look, a vague abstract type of floral background and I think this stencil worked brilliantly for this.

I ink-blended the poppies in 4 colors of ink on Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock: Sherbet, Citrine, Cheeky, and Mandarin. I also ink blended the stems and leaves in Celery, Limelicious, and Pearfection.
Next, I picked a sentiment and I used my mini MISTI stamping tool to stamp it onto the panel. I wanted something simple yet bold and striking at the same time so I used the Hello sentiment from the Clean Line XL stamp set from CZ. I first stamped a Hello in the center of the panel and then added 2 more stamped Hellos – one above and one below to elongate this sentiment. I used the Versafine Onyx Black ink for my stamping to have a gorgeous rich black impression.

I also added sub sentiments to each of these, just because I wanted this card to say more than just hello. And I have it saying Hello My Friend, You Are My Person and Sending You a Hug. So I have this big custom sentiment spanning across the colorful background and breaking it up.

Next, I created an A2 card base using Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. I cut a thin strip off of my panel to have a part of the background show. I wanted to add a colored cardstock strip to the background for an additional pop of color so added one in yellow. Lastly, I embellished my card with a couple of Aura sequins from Spellbinders and I used Simon’s embellishment wand to position them and the Bearly Arts glue to adhere them in place. Have fun stamping!

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Please join me in welcoming special guest Nichol Spohr with a gorgeous card duo to help showcase all of the components from our August 2023 card kit, Retro Wishes, that you can put together for a super fun design! Perplexed by the term “Flying Geese”? I was too at first, but learned with a little online searching that it is a quilting term which now totally makes sense!! I love quilts to snuggle with, but do not make them :) Be sure to watch the video for all the details, and enjoy!

Hey there friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you! Today I am sharing a fun masked stenciling project using Simon exclusive products and the Greeting Farm’s All Work and No Play stamp set!

The stencils I used to create the masked effect are Simon’s A2 Scalloped Rectangles and Mix and Match Circles. I also used Pawsitively Saturated Inks to create the colorful spectrum!
