Notebook-Inspired Valentine’s Day Cards: Yippee for Yana

Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)

Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!

Today I am creating Valentine’s Day cards with the Simon Says Stamp Mixed Labels and Love Word Mix 2 stamp sets. I wanted to create simple Valentines that would look like notebooks.

I started working on my cards by stamping a label from the Mixed Labels set in Latte ink onto Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. Next, I added a Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment from the Love Notes set stamped in black ink and embossed in clear embossing powder for a shiny finish. I used a coordinating label die and die-cut the labels out.

I also heat embossed “I Adore You” in detail white embossing powder on Schoolhouse Red cardstock and cut it out using not a coordinating die, but one that makes a banner, also from the Word Mix 2 die set.

To make a background, I dry embossed a sheet of pink cardstock (I used Hero Arts Peony and Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy) using Simon Says Stamp Swiss Dot embossing folder. I foam-mounted the embossed panel onto the A2 card base and foam-mounted my label with the red bookmark-like banner on top.
Lastly, I embellished my cards with cute clay hearts! I think I’m all set for Valentine’s Day! Have fun stamping!

[Don’t throw it away!!] Upcycling Used Wrapping Paper: Folded Tree Ornaments
MERRY CHRISTMAS crafty friends!! For those that celebrate, all of us at Simon Says Stamp hope you have a very blessed and happy holiday today!

For the past few years, we’ve been giving you ideas to upcycle your holiday wrapping paper. Today, I have some inspiration to keep the kids busy during their break by making simply folded paper tree ornaments.
These ornaments can be stored flat to enjoy year after year. They are made by cutting a stack of wrapping paper (I cut 7 at a time) with a 5 1/2″ circle die.

The cut circles are folded in half, then folded in an accordion manner to create the shape of the tree. The paper is so thin that it’s really easy to get crisp creases.

Punch a hole in the top for the string and have the kids adorn their trees with gems, sequins, or buttons!
