Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: 2 Easy Interactive Baby Cards!

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie

Hello friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you and I am featuring the new Doodlebug Special Delivery and Bundle of Joy collections. I’ll be showing you how to make 2 easy, interactive baby cards!

The first card features the adorable Bundle of Joy stamp set and a mini action wobble to make the babies wiggle! Super simple, the action wobble sticks to your die cut images for instant interactive fun. This card is perfect for a mama expecting twins!

A coordinating tag adds is perfect for adding to a gift; the tag is cut with the CZ Design Nested Tag die set. Both the card and the tag feature pattern paper from the Bundle of Joy 6×6 pad.

The next card is anther simple way to make your card interactive! This “swing card” features a sleeping baby from the Special Delivery set. The babe is suspended from the top of the card by a piece of twine, which allows it to swing back and forth as if it was being rocked to sleep! Making a swing card like this is easy to do and requires only a piece of twine!

A coordinating tag for this card also makes an adorable finishing touch for this cute design!

Vintage Strawberry Tag

Hi friends! Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a happy holiday weekend! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Anna-Karin Evaldsson with this gorgeous and summery tutorial! Please read on and enjoy!

Hi everyone! I am happy to be here on the blog today to share a tutorial with you. Summer has arrived and the sun is shining. I particularly enjoy the long evenings, since we only have a few hours of darkness at night this time of the year.

The tag I made was inspired by summer, with strawberries, flowers and a sunshine sentiment. Stamping and coloring on patterned paper is fun, especially when you can see some of the pattern through the coloring. If you use vintage looking paper, you will also get a nice tint to start with and the colors will look slightly different compared to if you had colored the images on white paper. I used colored pencils, but you can also try the technique with other coloring media.

I was looking through Tim Holtz Journal Cards and found this one with a strawberry print. Turn the journal card into a tag by die cutting it with one of the Stacked Tag dies. Round the bottom corners for a fun look.

Color the strawberries with colored pencils. You can use the white pencil to blend the colors.

Add shading to the strawberries to make them look dimensional.

Add details and highlights with a white gel pen, and more shading if necessary.

Stamp a sentiment from Paper Artsy’s Sunshine & Rain set with Vintage Photo Archival Ink on another journal card. Cut the card smaller and round two of the corners. Ink the edges. Also ink the edges of some Field Notes ephemera pieces. Adhere to the tag.

Stamp one of the flowers from SSS Stronger Together with Hickory Smoke Archival Ink.

Color with colored pencils. I also stamped one more flower.

Add details with a white gel pen and with a black pen.

Draw around the ephemera pieces with a brown and a black colored pencil, to add dimension. Ink the edges of the tag.

Color a gumdrop heart with Butterscotch Alcohol ink so that it matches the tag.

You can see some of the ledger paper showing through the strawberries.

I stamped a word from SSS Tabbed Sentiment on the red tag with grey ink.

The Paper Artsy Sunshine & Rain set has wonderful quotes.

I added a Game Spinner and a piece of twine to finish the tag.

My favorite part of this tag is the text and other background details showing through the coloring.

With a drop of alcohol ink, you can change many embellishments so that they fit your project.

I hope this tutorial inspired you to stamp and color directly on patterned paper. Experiment with different media and papers and see what results you can get.

Thank you so much for looking! Stay safe! Happy crafting! -Anna-Karin

Art Journaling: Colorful Sunflower

Welcome, everyone!! It’s Shari here with an art journal inspiration for you.

Sometimes I just want to make something pretty, something cheerful, without having to think much. I’ve decided to use some of my cardstock scraps for my circle journal. I’ve taken inspiration from a mug that was given to me. It has a single, beautifully colored sunflower.

I pulled out some heavy cardstock to draw 3 different size petals and cut them out to use as templates. I selected cardstock that I thought would work and cut the petals using lights and darks of each color family.

When it came to the center, I die-cut circles and hand-cut jagged edges. To finish this off, I added dots of Glossy Accents.

I have the entire backside of this page to add my journaling. I’m inspired to make different versions of this design using a variety of mediums.
