HDSA Fundraiser! Please help us support this great cause!

Last year, we hosted a fundraiser for HDSA! (Huntington’s Disease Society of America) and you loved it so much that it had great success in raising $200,000 for HDSA. It is a charity that is very personal and close to my heart because it affects my family. Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a rare, genetic, neurodegenerative disease with a devastating impact on individuals and entire families. It is hereditary and it is terminal. Through the years we have met many wonderful people in the HD Community and when a cure is found it will bring enormous positive impact on families around the world.
So far, there is no cure for Huntington’s Disease. Today, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease.
HD is a rare, genetic, terminal disease that has no cure. It is like having Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and ALS simultaneously. Imagine losing your memory, muscle control, and ability to control your emotions all at once. It’s devastating for the individual and entire family. We need to find a cure. Children of an HD Parent each have a 50/50 chance of inheriting this disease.
Donations help support the families, doctors, scientists, researchers, everyone in the HD community who are working tirelessly for a cure.
It is with a sense of urgency that I am helping raise money for much needed research and development of a cure and to support other families of this deadly and horrific disease.
If you are interested in purchasing a box of goods, please know that 100% of the net proceeds of the box will be going to support the Central Ohio HDSA as we work to find a cure and support the HD Community.

Modern Encouragement Card with Complementary Color Stenciling: Yippee for Yana

Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)

Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!

I’m creating a modern encouragement card with the Simon Says Stamp Monstera Leaf Stencil and You stamp set by CZ Design.

The Monstera Leaf is a 4-set layering stencil sized to work for an A2 card. Each stencil measures 4 ¼ x 5 ½” and creates one oversized leaf, perfect to fill the entire background of an A2 card. I wanted to do something different, to make a modern monstera leaf, so I ink-blended one part of the leaf green and another part pink.

For the green side of the leaf, I used: Limelicious, Pearfection, and Field Pawsitively Saturated inks by Simon Says Stamp. To mask one side of the lead I followed the center vine line and masked the opposite side of the leaf using paper by simply holding the piece of paper in place.
For the pink side, I used: Peony, Rose, and Cherry. I love this bold and vibrant color combination.
With the ink blending done, I trimmed the panel to 4 x 5 1.4” and used a MISTI stamping tool to stamp the sentiment – “You go, girl” using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Lastly, I foam mounted the panel onto Simon’s Fog card base using thin foam adhesive squares and embellished the card by using 2 new sequin mixes from Simon – the Summer Sunset Mix and the Garden Blooms Mix. Have fun creating!
