Swipe & Stamp for Easy Cards: EZ with CZ

Hi friends! Happy Monday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Cathy Zielske with our latest edition of EZ with CZ! Read on, and be sure to watch the video for all the details! Enjoy!

Hello crafty friends! It’s Cathy Zielske here and I have the simplest idea for a quick card! All you need are some ink cubes (or pads, too!) and some big decorative stamp.

This technique works well with big floral or leafy stamps. I’m using the Graceful Flowers Stamps which feature a very large, gorgeous bloom. This is especially great for NOT coloring a detailed image and yet it still comes across as very elegant and graphic.

Be sure to pick colors that are analogous, which means they follow each other on the spectrum of the color wheel. Three or four should do the trick. Here is my video showing you the card.

This is also a great technique for when you just want to play and see how your swipes turn out!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next month!

Alcohol Ink Background with Floral Watercoloring Just Because Card by Cheiron Brandon!
Hi friends! Happy Sunday! We’re delighted to welcome back special guest Cheiron Brandon to our guest with a gorgeous floral card idea! Read on and enjoy!

Hello there crafty friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here with my monthly post using Tim Holtz products. This month I am playing with new Alcohol Ink colors to make a gorgeous background, then adding a big stamp from the floral trims set and coloring it with coordinating colors using Distress Watercolor Pencils.

To begin I took a piece of Ranger Yupo Paper and added some Alcohol Ink Blending Solution to it. Then I added some Alcohol Inks to the panel, one at a time, moving them around with the air blower until I got the look I wanted. I used Cosmopolitan, Juniper, Chronicle, and Bayou. I let my panel dry (but you could also dry with a heat tool). Once the panel was dry, I splattered my piece a bit with some Isopropyl Alcohol and a paintbrush to get the colors to move even more and get that dotted/splatter effect.

For the Floral Trims, I stamped the image onto a piece of Distress Watercolor cardstock using Black Soot Distress Archival Ink. I colored the flowers with my Distress Watercolor Pencils and used water and a round paintbrush to get a nice light blended look. To color them in I used Cracked Pistachio, Shaded Lilac, Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, Bundled Sage and Iced Spruce pencils. Once my flowers were dry, I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

To assemble the card I cut my alcohol Ink panel to fit the front of an A2 size card, and adhered it to the card. Then I added foam tape to the back of the cut out Floral Trims piece and added it to the card and trimmed off the excess at the top and bottom of the card. I left the leaves on the side to hang off ever so slightly.

For the sentiment, I stamped a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Floristry set onto a piece of black cardstock and embossed it in white. I added to the card with some foam tape under one side to keep the same dimension as the Floral Trims. There are so many things you can do with your alcohol ink panels, and sometimes just adding a simple die cut and sentiment can give you beautiful results!
