Stuck in the Middle with You

We’re right in the middle of the month. Not quite to the middle of the year.  Are you stuck in the middle of creative chaos? I suppose what we’re in the middle of will vary greatly, but I’m still inspired by the idea of being in the middle. Whether you craft something where your focal point is in the middle, you journal about what you’re in the middle of, or perhaps select a stamp or sticker from the middle of the set this week we’re all about being in the middle of things!

Once you have made your project, just go ahead and upload it into the linky on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog! We can’t wait to see what you make!

As always, we’re offering a chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to Simon Says Stamp! (If you enter in this weeks Monday Challenge, you’ll have a chance to win!)

I Love You THIS Much

I love you THIS much 2 by Lucy Abrams for SSS

Hi readers! Happy Sunday to you! Please join me in welcoming back our lovely guest designer, Lucy Abrams! Today, she took a unique take on our cute little teddy bear from Abby’s Spring Showers stamp set, and added a fun sentiment from the Stamp and Cut Arrow Messages from Hero Arts. Read on for more tips and tricks, and enjoy!

I love you THIS much by Lucy Abrams for SSS

Hello. It’s Lucy Abrams here today with a clean and simple card that’s perfect for a loved one. To create this card, I first added a wash of aqua watercolor to some water-colour cardstock and allowed it to dry. Next, I stamped the lovely little bear from Abby’s Spring Showers onto the watercolor card and cut it out.

I took some Neenah white cardstock and trimmed to 5 1/2 x 3 3/4″, then stamped the arrow and sentiment from Hero Arts’ Stamp and Cut Arrow Messages set. I flicked the card stock with some of the same aqua watercolor and set it aside to dry.

While waiting, I stamped the bear and a trio of hearts onto some more Neenah cardstock. I sponged these with Coral Reef Hybrid Ink then cut them out. I added the tiny heart to the aqua bear, then adhered everything to the card. Some tiny gold Pretty Pink Posh sequins and a strip of striped Pinkfresh Studio washi completed the card. Thanks so much for stopping by. See you again soon.

Flights of Fancy

Hi readers!  Please join me in welcoming Jill Foster back to our blog! Her work is so inspiring to me and I’m sure if you are familiar with her work it is to you as well! Read on to learn how Jill made this watercolored beauty, and also for more details on a special prize! Enjoy!

Hi everyone! Jill Foster here for Penny Black and it is such an honor to share a trio of cards with you today. I decided to use one of my favorite Penny Black Creative Dies, 51-132 Flights of Fancy. But instead of using the positive die cut, I used the negative “leftover” piece as a stencil. This is a great way to get even more use from your dies!

Using a stenciled image, as opposed to a stamped outline, gives the look of hand-painted artsy butterflies.

Place the “stencil” over your watercolor paper and apply watercolor paints to the body and wings of the butterfly. Once dry, remove the stencil, and paint the background area surrounding the butterflies.

I kept things loose and flowing, allowing the background color to drip and splatter.

Finally, I stamped my sentiments using VersaFine Onyx Black ink. The Penny Black transparent set, 30-283 Snippets, is perfect for butterfly images …or basically anything else you could need!
