Idea-ology Canvas with Shari Carroll
There is nothing better to me than a blank canvas on my desk… just waiting to get covered with goodness! I’ve played with some new Tim Holtz Idea-ology Pocket cards and the 12×12 French Industrial Paper Stash pad to get my 8×10 canvas board started.
After my paper was layed down and dry, I used some Wendy Vecchi Crackle paste with Tim’s Latticeworks stencil for texture.
From there I went about embellishing my canvas with Flashcards, Industrious Trim, Small Talk stickers, Fragments
The Mini Numerals gave me a clean shine and represent a countdown. And to create balance, I’ve added an Adornments bird in the upper right area. If you notice, I haven’t painted or distressed any of my embellishments… Sometimes I like them just the way they are!
I did shoot a full length video. Along the way I give tips as well as the sped up process. Beware, it starts out with my initial failure… lol. You can watch it below or on our YouTube channel.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
MICE to see you!
Happy Thursday, readers! We’re always pleased to welcome back the sweet and talented Lucy Abrams to our blog! She made the cutest little everyday card featuring new Hero Arts stamps and dies for today’s feature! Read on to learn more about her thought process to recreate it for yourself. Enjoy!

Hello, it’s Lucy Abrams here. Today I have a fun card to share with you that I created with some brand new Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp products. This little mouse stamp from Hero Arts new Baby Animals set is just adorable and is perfect for more than just baby cards. Here, I paired it with a sentiment from their Animal Messages set, layering both onto a mint Stitched Circle die cut that I had stamped with Simon’s new Falling Snow stamp.
I added a few Moonshine sequins and some looped thread for sparkle and texture. The background was created with Simon’s fabulous new Bokeh Lights stencils; I used both the medium and larger stencils for my design. Isn’t this combination of Cotton Candy and Mint just delicious? A tiny touch of pink watercolor to my mouse’s ears finished off the card. And if you are not a fan of fussy cutting, Hero Arts also have matching Frame Cuts for the Baby Animals set. Thanks so much for joining me today. See you again soon.
Supplies:
Stencil It!
Stencils are all the rage right now, there are so many things you can do with them! You can use them as masks to create fabulous custom backgrounds, you can spritz, sponge, stipple, use a blending tool to ‘smoosh’ the colors, use several layers of stencils to create a collage design effect. You could also use embossing paste to create texture, there are lots of fun techniques to try. You are never quite sure of how it will look until you remove the stencil and then your design is revealed! You can also use them to emboss a delicate design onto paper or card stock.
This week the Wednesday Challenge are asking everyone to ‘Stencil It’. You can use store bought stencils, or you can make your own masks using die cut, or hand cut shapes.
Once you have made your creation just go ahead and upload it into the linky on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog! We can’t wait to see what you make!
