spotted

Seeing all of the amazing cards and projects featuring the Simon Say Stamp brand that are created by you, our customers, is super fun for us! We love seeing what you are creating. ‘Spotted!’ is a monthly feature on this blog that highlights the talents of all of you!

Today we are excited to introduce you to 4 designers who shared their work and caught our eye for the August 2015 ‘Spotted’ post!  We send each of them a little something special for being “spotted.”

Hope you enjoy the eye candy! ;o)

Jennifer Hay

We became infatuated with this layered card made by Jennifer Hay. The lovely focal point sentiments were created using the Sending die and Sending Happy Thoughts stamp set. Don’t you just love how she used glossy accents to accentuate the word die and give it that little extra POP! Wonderful work, Jennifer! We spotted this card on Jennifer’s blog.

Karen Dunbrook

Karen Dunbrook created this beautifully masked CAS card using the Many Thanks stamp set from the Color of Fun release.  We spotted Karen’s creation in our Anything Goes Wednesday Challenge Blog. You can also find this card and much more of Karen’s work on her blog.

Margo

Now this is a feast for the eyes! They almost look good enough to eat!! To create these six scrumptious cards Margo used the You’re So Sweet stamp set and the Sweet Fruits craft dies. Huge shout-out to Margo for sharing her yummy creations on Instagram!

Bhavana Kesarkar

This CAS design created by Bhavana Kesarkar is a site to behold! The fun striped background was created using the Diagonal Stripe stencil. Overlying those fabulous colorful stripes is the perfect focal sentiment created from the Wishing die. Beautifully done, Bhavana!

We spotted this card in our Flickr group; it can also be found on Bhavana’s blog!

Hibiscus Stamping

Hi readers! Happy Sunday! Today’s super cheery trio is brought to you by the talented and sweet Yana Smakula! Enjoy!

Happy Summer everyone! Today I’m sharing several simple cards using a mix of Hero Arts and Simon supplies. You can never have too many simple Hello cards so I decided to use Simon’s new Painted Hello and Hello Sunshine dies for my projects. I started by die cutting a negative Hello on a card base created using Hero Arts Sunshine Layering paper. Because its white on the inside you instantly have two colors on your project – the colored outside and the white inside peeking through the negative die cut. I love this trick!

I stamped several Hibiscus flowers using 2 color combinations to create floral embellishments for my cards and tag. I used Twirling Tutu, Hollyhock and Teeny Bikini for the large pink flower and Duckling, Sunshine and Apricot for the smaller yellow flowers. As for the leaves I chose to use Catkin and Willow. All of these were die cut on my Artisan X-plorer machine using matching dies.

For my Yellow Hello Card I also stamped a Summer definition using a stamp from the Pool Play set and Sunshine ink and added a die cut Sunshine on top. I popped it up using Simon’s Foam tape to create a bit of dimension on this project and dressed my card up using one Hibiscus Flower and a few leaves.

Since I already had several additional stamped and die cut flowers I made another card. I stamped a subtle Woodgrain background using Apricot ink onto a white card base, foam mounted a black Hello Sunshine frame and embellished it using several flowers and leaves. I used a large pink Hibiscus and two yellow flowers for this simple project.

As for the rest of my flowers and the positive Hello that was left from creating the first project I used it on a tag created using Simon’s Large Tag die.

Tim Holtz Flip Frame!

Happy Saturday!!! I’ve got a mixed medium project for you today using the Tim Holtz Flip Frame. This is basically a collage on a tag… but upside down!

I started out with the #8 Manilla tags from Ranger where I folded the bottom about 1 1/2″ to fit inside the frame and to be durable for hanging.

I collaged some Tim Holtz Pocket Cards onto the tag using Multi Matte Medium. From there, I added my photo and embellishments.

To finish things off, I used a few of the Tim Holtz Heirloom Roses and Industrious Frames and Trims stickers.

I shot a video of the complete process. You can view it below or one our YouTube Channel.
