Happy Holly Days

Hi readers! Happy Monday! We’re so pleased to be welcoming back guest designer Jocelyn Olson with this adorable Paper Smooches holiday card to give you some ideas for your own holiday crafting! If you haven’t already, be sure to bookmark Red Balloon Cards for consistently great crafting ideas and tips!

Enjoy!

Hi! I’m thrilled to be guesting and sharing some Paper Smooches today! I love how Kim at Paper Smooches designs products so you can use old and new stamps and dies.  I mixed some holiday products from last year and this year to create a cheerful holiday card:

Holly Christmas J. Olson 1

I started by creating the pine branches. I die-cut the Paper Smooches Wreath Builder die out of October Afternoon Under the Tree paper. Next, I painted the edges of the branches with Gold Modeling Cream. The texture and gold shimmer on the branches is a lovely detail!

Next, I die-cut the larger Paper Smooches Mason Jar die out of watercolor paper and silver glitter cardstock. I lightly watercolored the jar and stamped a sentiment from the Holly Jolly set. I finished the jar with a few dots of Stickles and Lawn Fawn twine.

I couldn’t resist adding the adorable Cool Dudes snowman! I colored him with Copic markers and die cut him with the Cool Dudes Icons die. To finish the card, I cut a panel of the Under the Tree paper.

Thanks so much for letting me share some Paper Smooches today!

Weekender with Wanda – MFT Spotlight!

weekenderwithwanda_638x250 (1)

Hello there crafty friends! Happy Weekend, and welcome back to Weekender with Wanda! Thank you for all the support and all the great comments on my first post. I have written down your ideas and will be planning for us to have more fun in the months to come. Before we get started, I’d like to announce the Simon grab bag winner from last week: Greta H! Congratulations Greta – you will be getting an email soon!

Today’s edition of Weekender with Wanda is a company spotlight feature on My Favorite Things Stamps. They have some really great new items for the holiday season. I made a bright and cheerful holiday card using the new Snowflake Flurry stamp set as the main focus. For my card design layout I used one of my favorite products from MFT – their Blueprints Dies. The Blueprints dies are a fantastic way to make card layouts.

I stamped my snowflakes in Island Blue and Slate Gray inks, and then stamped my sentiment in a rich black ink. I added pearls to the white panel to add some shine! The fun part comes in putting it all together so easily with the Blueprint dies. For this card I used Blueprint #15. There are several styles of them and I wish I had them all! I used the MFT Farm Fresh Gingham 6×6 paper as my background layer. My card base is SSS Khaki cardstock. Then I stamped one little snowflake on a bright red heart for an accent.

The sentiment is from the Hand Lettered Holiday Stamp set and it is a must have for this season. I have already used this set so much. My white layer is popped up with foam squares, as is my banner and heart. The Blueprints Dies come with many different pieces to use as accents – so you can customize from card to card.

I thought it would be helpful for you to see the pieces in the Blueprints #15 Die Set – so here is a graphic. Here is a link to a YouTube video showing different card designs made with this set. Changing the colors of your paper and your stamps makes it new again each time.  1_301852_ZM
