Tim Holtz Linen: Painted Resist with Shari Carroll
I’ve been at it again… playing with more of Tim’s amazing product. I’ve had the Textile Surfaces for a bit now and have had this technique in my head, it was time to do it! I love experimenting and wanted to do a resist on fabric!! I used the Tim Holtz Gothic Layering Stencil and Transparent Matte Texture Paste directly on to the linen. Once it was dry, I painted it with watered down Distress Paints.
I was all about embracing the white space on this project and chose to leave the die cut Wildflowers clean and simple. I used Evergreen Bough Distress Paint to cover the Alpha Parts message and added just a hint of Brushed Pewter Distress Paint for a little shine.
For additional texture and to frame my panel, I used added the leaf Industrious Border and corrugated from the Textured Surfaces with gesso.
This is a nice project to display in my studio as a reminder to Enjoy the Journey!
I’ve put together a full process video which you can view below or on our YouTube channel.

Stencil It On Wednesday!
This week on the Wednesday Challenge we are getting creative with stencils! Stenciling is one of my favorite techniques, there are so many ways you can use them and I particularly love the textures you can create with the various art mediums available, from gels to paste, sand and inks. You can create so many different looks with a single stencil and as they are relatively inexpensive they are a great buy! If you don’t have a stencil you can also make your own, the main thing is to join in and have fun!
We are showcasing Stencil Girl Stencils this week. You don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge, but if you have them we would love to see them used!
Once you have made your creation just go ahead and upload it into the linky on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog! We can’t wait to see what you make!
As always, we’re offering a chance to win a $50 Gift Voucher to Simon Says Stamp! All YOU need to do is join in with the challenge!
Below are three projects created by the design team, that showcase this weeks theme!
