Nature Inspired Card Making
Hello crafty and creative friends! Happy first week of Spring! I am so inspired by how green and beautiful everything is in my neighborhood right now, and my card for today is based on that Spring inspiration…and the color green! Green is definitely one of my favorite colors – and I use it all the time in my projects. I am especially partial to bright lime green! Today I’ve used the beautiful Simon Says Stamp Exclusive “One with Nature” stamps and dies to create watercolor trees and leaves.
I first started by die cutting squares out of watercolor paper to design my card layout. The Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares dies are perfect for mixing and matching to make graphic card and scrapbook layouts. I stamped my trees and leaves with Archival (waterproof) ink onto watercolor paper and die cut them using the matching dies.
Here is a close up of the trees to show the water-coloring. I used my Kuretake Zig Clean Color Markers for this project. These markers are water based so they are perfect for watercolor cards. I colored with the markers directly onto the watercolor paper and then used a paint brush to move the color and blend the colors together. I used several shades of green, blue and teal for this card. No need to worry about being precise. I think it looks good sort of messy and free form.
I used a Tim Holtz Ideaology Word Token charm and a bit of natural cord to add to the nature feeling of this card.
These beautiful word stamps come with the “One with Nature” stamp set and I offset my text on the top and bottom of the largest square – for some background interest. That font is really cool.
Once my watercolor trees and leaves were dry, I attached them to my card front using foam squares. I added turquoise enamel dots to finish off the look.
Are you inspired by Spring right now? Have a wonderful day! I will see you back here on Saturday for Weekender with Wanda!

Watercolor Backgrounds with Darkroom Door Stamps
Happy Tuesday!! It’s Shari here with some fun color! Have you had trouble creating watercolor backgrounds for your cards? I’ve discovered the amazing Watery Washes stamp set from Darkroom Door that really makes it easy!
I’ve used my favorite Distress inks to create the background then white embossed the daisy from the Fine Flowers stamp set also from Darkroom Door.
I like to make blank cards to have on handy for unexpected events. This one is great for a birthday, going away or even a thank you. It only takes a second to stamp a sentiment on the inside.
I’ve shot a video to show how to create this card which you can view below or on our YouTube channel.
