May 2016 Card Kit 600

It’s April 14th and that means it’s time to reveal our Monthly Card Kit! Let me introduce you to Showered With Love, our May 2016 card kit. Showered With Love is full of cheerful Spring images, colored papers and sequins.

This kit includes the Happy Days stamp set, Lawn Fawn Plaid 6×6 papers and word sticker sheets from Pinkfresh Studio. Also in this kit is a glue pen from Sakura, Simon Says Stamp Crystal Reflections sequins and 5 sheets of Simon Says card stock in Surf Blue, Sunshine, Doll Pink, Green Apple and 120# White.

INSPIRATION

Debby Hughes created a beautiful watercolor background where she added the sun and flower to finish her outdoor scene. She used a word bubble for her greeting and complementing sequins.

Wanda colored her cloud and sun with Copics and arranged them to shine over some of the plaid paper. She used a talk bubble and word strip to complete her greeting and sequins to finish off her design.

Heather started with a wash of yellow and added more color detail to her sun on a piece of die cut watercolor paper. She then mounted them on plaid paper cut on the diagonal with color card stocks.

I used the kite image where I omitted the face by masking and stamped on plaid paper. I mounted everything on a tag that I’ve added a bit Broken China ink, My kite strings are silver thread which come together at the right and under the word strip.

Tim Holtz April 12 tags with a Bright Twist

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! Do you check out Tim Holtz’s 12 tags of 2016 each month?

The main technique of this tag is using the Distress Paper Mosaic kit to achieve a realistic looking tile piece.  The kit has everything you need for a three part process which comes out looking like actual grout and tile.

I thought I would create my tag based on Tim’s April design but with a twist by using bright colors!  It has a bit more clean and simple look to it without using distressing techniques. Both styles are effective!

I chose the Bo Bunny Believe paper pad which has an amazing  rainbow sheet that I used for my die cut heart piece.

Once I had my mosaic piece done, I created a background with Tim Holtz Woodgrain cardstock which I’ve done a resist with Picket Fence Distress paint and Distress stain.

I used my sewing machine to stitch around the woodgrain panel alternating between straight stitch and zig zag. I’ve kept my finishing touches simple and bold combining black and silver to allow the bright colored heart to be the focal point.

I’ve shot a video of the process and techniques used which you can watch it below or on our YouTube channel.
