Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Hello Crafty Friends!!! Welcome to the Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop! I’ve created a couple mini cards using the Gratitude stamp set where I’ve gold embossed the images and used watercolors to fill in with color. These are great to create in batches for the Thanksgiving table.
Have fun with your watercolors and allow them to seep into the grooves of the embossed image. You can’t go wrong!
I’ve filmed a video of how I created these little placards which you can view below or on our YouTube channel HERE.

More November 2017 Card Kit Inspiration with Kristina Werner

Hi all! Kristina here. Have you all seen the November 2017 card kit yet? It might be my favorite kit so far! This kit is packed with TONS of awesome things for making cards. It even includes a 6×8 stamp set–a first for a Simon card kit!

One of the things I love about the new Kind Flowers stamp set is the large floral image (the stamp set is available outside of the kit as well). I decided to make that the focal point of my card. I first stamped the image in Barely Beige ink (and left the stamp positioned in my MISTI tool) and colored it with Copic Markers. Then I put the cardstock back into my MISTI and stamped the image again using Clear embossing ink and applied Simon’s Antique Gold embossing powder over the top. Then I heat set it.
Why would I wait to heat emboss until after the coloring was complete? Because the ink in Copic Markers will eat away at embossing powder. It dissolves the embossing powder and it can potentially ruin the tips of your markers. Because of this, it’s best to color first and then do any heat embossing.

I finished off the card by cutting out the floral image and adhering it over the top of some gold foil striped patterned paper. I also stamped the individual “kind” stamp from the stamp set and gold heat embossed it. Then I used the coordinating die from the kit to cut it out and pop it up over the top of the floral image.
I hope you enjoy today’s video! Thanks for stopping by! You can pick up the November 2017 Card Kit HERE, or you can subscribe to receive this kit and future kits automatically.

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Pebbles Hooray Inspiration
Hello crafters, its Nina-Marie here with you today and I have some inspiration for you on creating trifold gift card holders. Both of these projects feature the adorable Pebbles Hooray collection, which I really love working with.
These trifold gift card holders are so easy to make with the help of the Simon exclusive 3 Sided Scallop die. With a bit of creative die cutting, you can turn your dies into very clever things! By simply scoring my 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of white cardstock at 3 1/2″ from either end and then cutting those two outer ends with the scallop die, you get a super-quick and fun card design!
Another thing to remember when making cards is that none of us are perfect! I had a “duh” moment when creating one of these cards; I absentmindedly forgot that the catty-corner Lawn Fawn Simple Gift Card Slots die was not supposed to be aligned straight across the card, but rather the corners of the die lining up with the corners of the paper (I demonstrate both my mistake and the correct method in the video). However, I was determined to make my mistake work and in the end I actually kind of like how the gift card is a bit “cattywampus”!
The cute script sentiments you see on the front of each card are from the Echo Park Birthday Party die set; the font is beautiful and really matched up nicely with the Pebbles Happy Hooray ephemera and 6×6 papers.

Be sure to check out the video below to see the trifold card design come together! I hope this inspires you with ideas for using the Happy Hooray collection from Pebbles, as well as create a few trifold cards of your own! Thanks so much for visiting with me today… I will not be posting next week as we have something else planned for next Monday, so instead you will see me back again the following week (10/30) with a new video for you! Until then, happy creating!
