Altenew March 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop + Giveaway
Welcome everyone! Today we are celebrating the Altenew March 2018 stamp and die release with a blog hop. If you’ve come from Mayline Jung’s blog, then you’re in the right place.
blog, then you’re in the right place.
I’ve created a Mother’s Day card using the Wildflower Garden stamps and some Tim Holtz Distress inks. I’ve chosen muted tones to create a sense of softness.
The subtle greeting “MOM” was created using the Flat and Fold Alphas. These are unique dies that cut half of the letters with a score line to be folded over. I’ve layered the flower panel on top of some book text to fit the mood.
I’ve filmed a video of how I created this card. You can view it below or on our YouTube channel HERE.

Yippee for Yana: Floral Card for Mom
Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! Please welcome back the fantastic Yana Smakula to our blog as a special guest in her bi-monthly Yippee for Yana series. Today, Yana made a gorgeous card for her Mom “just because”, but this would also be a perfect design for Mother’s Day (which is May 12th in the USA)! Be sure to watch the video, and enjoy!
Hello friends, this is Yana and welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video! In today’s episode, I’m making a floral card for my Mom using some new and some old products from Simon.
I, like many of you, I’m sure, have my all time favorite stamps and one of those stamp sets is the Mom and Dad Icons set. I just love the font that was used for the Mom and Dad words – it’s a great font for coloring so I reached for this set for my card today. If you don’t have this set, you can also use Simon Says Stamp Stitched Alphabet set – it features the same font and has every letter, obviously, that would let you spell any other word you might want. For example Sister, or Aunt, or Cousin or Grandma.
I started by stamping letters onto white cardstock in Simon’s Intense Black ink. I knew I wanted to color them with Copics so that dictated the paper and ink choice for today’s card. I grabbed new Bold Flowers set and stamped a number of images in various bright ink colors. The idea was to create a floral garden around the word “Mom”. The colors of ink I used were Jellybean, Willow, Wisteria, Velvet Orchid, Doll Pink, Sunshine, Hollyhock and Twirling Tutu.
I also stamped a background for my card using the new Reverse Polka Dot Background stamp – I’ve been using it a lot lately, it’s just a fantastic background that lets you create the look of patterned paper with minimum effort. I went with Barely Beige ink color for my background – I love the softness of this ink, its like it’s not even there, yet it is and it adds a nice subtle detail to your background. There are coordinating dies available for all of these images and what I love the Bold Flowers stamp set for is that coordinating dies cut everything out and they cut flowers separately from the stems. So that gives us more use out of these images.
I used my Copics and colored letters. I used purples and went with V17, V15 and V12 colors and colored each letter to create a gradient from the darkest at the bottom to the lightest at the top. I arranged my die cuts the way I liked and foam mounted them in place. I heat embossed the sentiment that reads “So Happy You’re My Mom” in white embossing powder onto a black cardstock strip and I adhered it onto my card right in the middle of my cluster. I also added several clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh and that finished my card!
Have fun stamping!
