September 2018 Card Kit – More Card Kit Inspiration with Kristina Werner!

Hi all! Kristina Werner here with some more card kit inspiration! Today I have a card made using supplies from the September 2018 Card Kit. I chose to create a card using the supporting images in the Beautiful Mermaids stamp set.
I stamped the treasure chest scene using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and then ink blended the two Distress Oxide colors included in the kit (Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky), plus Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink. This created the sandy bottom of the ocean and the blue water.

I colored the scene with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils, plus added gold details on the chest using FineTec pearlescent watercolors.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy another card made using the card kit! You can pick up this mermaid themed kit HERE, or subscribe to receive future kits automatically HERE.

Altenew August 2018 Stamp/Die Release Blog Hop!

Hi friends! Thanks for joining me on this fun blog hop celebrating brand new goodies from Altenew! If you’re coming from Karin Akesdotter’s page, then you are in the right place! If not, please refer to the full hop list below!
As soon as I saw the large number dies in this new release, I thought about my son’s birthday and was excited to try the new dies. I love the huge sizes of the numbers. Lately, I’ve really been into using clear embossing ink for stamping. It creates something similar to a watermark image. You can see in the cards that word birthday is actually stamped with clear ink and also the word Jaxon (my son). It’s super easy and fun. You could take it a step further and emboss it too, but I was going for subtle effect on these cards so the glittered cutouts would stand out.
There’s just something about the number 11 that’s magical in our family. Does your family have a magical or “lucky” number? Hubby and I got married on 11/11 :) My son is turning 11 and my daughter was born in 2011. I hope that means we all live to be a hundred and eleven :) Do you see the Tim Holtz number token on the gray card? Totally obsessed!
Please enjoy the cards I made with Altenew’s new release. It’s a fun release and is sized beautifully for card making! I’m not usually the one who creates beautiful things for our blog, but after seeing these products I wanted to give it a go. Doing this gave me a huge appreciation for the bloggers and artists who create and share (and photograph and video!) for us all to enjoy on a regular basis. Please be sure to show them some love by giving them some kind of positive feedback. Sharing is brave!
