Doodling with Debby: Leafy Loveliness
Hi friends! Welcome to the latest edition of Doodling with Debby, with the always amazing Debby Hughes! She’s using some brand new products from our You are Loved collection in such a gorgeous way! Keep on scrolling and don’t forget to watch the video! Enjoy!
Hi, it’s Debby here with my monthly Doodling With Debby video feature on the Simon Says Stamp blog and for today I have some leafy loveliness with the new Outline Clustered Leaves die from the recent You Are Loved release paired with the new Oh Happy Day Tag and Quilted Hearts Background.
This leaves series from Simon Says Stamp has been a favorite of mine. There was the original Clustered Leaves die and then the Leaves Stencil, and I am so happy to see this new Outline Clustered Leaves die to join the family!
I die cut the Outline Clustered Leaves die from white card. I then colored white card with an array of ink colors; I prefer the softer effect than die cutting directly from colored card although that is an option as would patterned paper. So, the ink colors I used were:
After inking the pieces of card, I decided not to use the Smoke version. I dried the rest of the panels with a heat tool to prevent damp card getting stuck in the die and then ran each color through my die cutting machine with the Outline Clustered Leaves die. I set my colorful pile of leaves to one side while I worked on the rest of the card.
On a piece of Fog card, I stamped the Quilted Hearts Background in clear embossing ink before sprinkling with white embossing powder and heat setting. I trimmed the panel down to just slightly smaller than an A2 card base and mounted it on a side folding white card.
I die cut an Oh Happy Day Tag from white card and foam mounted this to the front of the panel. I added the white leaves die cut to the card front with little pieces of foam adhesive. After which I turned to my colorful pile of leaves and foam mounted leaves around the branch. Sometimes I added the leaves to nestle back into the white outline, but often I added them at an angle either on top of the white outline or underneath.
Finally, I accented some of the leaves with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen and Star Dust Stickles and dotted around a few white and clear sequins from the Girl’s Best Friend sequin pack.
Thanks for joining me today, and I’ll see you next time for Doodling With Debby.

We thought this would be a great way for all of you to ‘stretch your creative muscles’ and share what you’ve been working on. So we’ll give you a little challenge each month, and you’ll have until the following month to share what you’ve made. Please limit entries to 3 per month.
Each month we’ll pick a few random participants to win a Simon Says Stamp grab bag! YAY!

- Perhaps there’s a technique you have been putting off trying?
- What about trying a new color combination?
- Or maybe you have a new-to-you product that you’ve not yet played with; Simon says it’s time to break out those products and start WORKING them!
Whatever you create this month, make sure it is something NEW for you! Once you’ve created your projects, make sure you link your creations below!
