Sweet Scallop Easter Baskets with Tim Holtz Palette Fabric!

Hi friend! Happy Thursday! I’m delighted to welcome back special guest Richele Christensen to share these darling fabric Easter baskets with some of the gorgeous fabric from the Tim Holtz Palette Fabric collection! Be sure to read on for all the details and enjoy!

Hi friends! These baskets were so fun to make and I love how they turned out. The Tim Holtz Palette Collection is the perfect fabric for these Sweet Baskets. The Scalloped Basket Trio pattern by Minki Kim is easy to follow and turns out adorable.

Gather some spring color fabrics from the Tim Holtz Palette Collection. I’ve used Pink Wallpaper with Pink Toile, Yellow Specimen with Yellow Tiny Print and Blue Eggs with Blue Script for my baskets. Of course you need the Palette Blue Egg Fabric for an Easter Basket!
Trace your pattern onto the back side of your lining fabric.
Layer the Batting or Soft and Stable then exterior fabric right sides up and then the 2 lining pieces wrong side up lining up the lines from the pattern.
Sew on the scalloped from the traces lines. Be sure not to sew past the lines the side. Go slow to help keep the cine curved.

Use scissors to cut the basket shape out. Trim close to the scallop and clip as shown in the instructions.
Sew the sides of the basket.
Sew the bottom of the lining pieces closed.
Box the corners and sew them using a 1/8” seam allowance. Leave one of the corners for turning.

Turn the Basket right sides out Sew the bottom closed by tucking in the fabric and stitching close to the edge.
Cut 2 pieces of Braided Ribbon to make the handles. Sew down each edge to make a tube. Insert a thick floral wire to stiffen the handle.
Fold the ends over the wire and stick to the inside of the basket for your handle.

Fill the basket with your favorite goodie! Thanks for stopping by and happy sewing! –Richele
