Hello friends I back with more inspiration for the Palette Fabrics by Tim Holtz. The Palette Collection is perfect for this quilt with a wide array of colors to choose from. The pattern is called Pencil Me In. By Monica Curry. So cute I had to make it. I think it will be so adorable hanging in my studio. The size of the quilt is 24 1/2 x 24 1/2”

Gather your supplies. You will need 6 different colors for the pencils plus some browns and blacks for the pencil tips. Cut all the pieces out as directed in the instruction using a rotary cutter.

Sew 6 – A and 6 – B sections for the tip of the pencil. This will be done using Foundation Paper Piecing. If you‘re new to Foundation Paper Piecing you can watch this video.

Trim all the A + B pieces and carefully tear off the paper. Sew the units together. Press well.

Sew the colored strips together to create the pencil.

Lay out all the pieces for the quilt. You will notice I have a brown pencil here but I decided a yellow pencil would be more fun. Nothing a seam ripper can’t fix, right?

Sew all the pieces together pressing the seams as you go.

Layer your quilt for quilting. Start with the backing fabric wrong side up, Palette Multi Collage will be perfect. Add your batting.

Add the quilt top right side up and secure all the layers with quilting spray glue or pins.

Quilt as desired. I quilted with vertical lines 1/2” apart matching my thread color with the color of the pencil.

Sew on your binding. I love using this Gingham from Tim’s Holidays Past Collection and cutting it on the bias makes it so fun.

Turn the binding to the back side and hand sew using a ladder stitch.
