Cards for First Responders! Featuring Layered Stamping and Blending + Shaker (+ Free Gift!)

Hello friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you! We have so many amazing people who serve as first responders in our country, and what better way to thank them for their service than a handmade card?
These cards all feature our Simon exclusive First Responders stamp and die set. Each card features colors to accent the service emblem used.
Bonus tip! You could change the sentiment to create a Father’s Day or thank you card. For my cards, I’ve chosen the Simon Says Stamp Proud of You die.

For the stamping and blending on the EMS card, I used Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks. I also paired Mustard Seed with this and all the other cards to blend the Scattered Stars pattern over the emblems. The cardstock colors include Peacock, Slate, and Mermaid.

On the police card, I used Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks. The cardstocks were Soft Navy, Moonstone, and Slate.

For the fire department card, I paired Fired Brick, Barn Door, and Ripe Persimmon together for a “firetruck” vibrancy! The cardstocks used were Schoolhouse Red, Lipstick Red, and Slate.
These cards all feature gold sequins in the shaker and gold foil cardstock stars cut from Simon’s Mini Star Party die. They are so easy to make – and I hope you will watch the video to see for yourself!

Doodling with Debby: Karin Brushmarkers Pro
Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Debby Hughes in the latest edition of Doodling with Debby! Be sure to read on and watch the video to learn more!

Hello, it’s Debby here. So often I reach for my Daniel Smith watercolors, but I felt like using watercolor markers for this month’s video, and I pulled out the Karin Brushmarker Pro set that I have. I used just six colors to paint this beautiful Magnolia Background set which I paired with the Swoopy Thank You.

STEP BY STEP HOW TO
- Stamp the Simon Says Stamp Magnolia Background set on Fabriano Cold-Pressed watercolor card in Gina K Whisper ink.
- Tape to a board.
- Use Karin Brushmarkers Pro and a damp paintbrush to paint the image.
- Deepen shadows and define edges with Faber Castell Polychromo pencils.
- Accent highlights with a white gel pen.
- Splatter with White Gouache, Perfect Pearls and ink from the watercolor markers.
- Trim the panel to fit an A2 card base.
- Attach the panel with foam tape to a card base cut and scored from Neenah Desert Storm 100lb.
- Die-cut the CZ Design Swoopy Thank You from Ivory card and vellum.
- Glue the Ivory Thank You to the vellum base layer with Gina K Connect Glue.
- Add small pieces of foam tape to the back of the vellum and attach them to the card front.
- Accent with Nuvo droplets and Eggshell Pearls.

Well, that’s me for this month. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial; you’ll find the video below. Thanks for joining me, and I hope to see you next time for Doodling With Debby.
