This Monday’s challenge for Red\/White\/Blue immediately gave me ideas and being the 4th of July, I wanted to create a project to wish friends and everyone in the US crafting community a Happy Fourth !! I used a flat back 6x8in canvas <\/a>with the Sizzix the Tim Holtz Postage Stamp Frame<\/a>, the center cut out with the the largest Rectangle Movers and Shapers Repositionable die<\/a>. The Tim Holtz Correspondence <\/a>Journal cards were the perfect size to fill the project and the elements included a die-cutGlitter paper heart,<\/a> and Ideaology metal star<\/a> as well as Journal pieces.<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> included red, white and blue in her USA-themed card and decided to create three colorful bonus tags, too.<\/p>\n

I always think of the US (land that I seriously do love) when I hear “red, white, and blue,” so I used Tim Holtz’s United States thinlits die<\/a> as my focal point for my card and tag trio.\u00a0 I incorporated a lot of reds\/pinks and blue\/teals in my card and for all of my projects, I added patterns and designs using IndigoBlu’s Calculus<\/a> stamp, Rain Droplets<\/a> stamp, and Rugged Edge<\/a> stamp.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> had fun turning the IndigoBlu Periodic Table of Elements<\/a> into a hill.<\/p>\n

I enjoyed making a little summer scene on a glossy tag, using mainly stamps from the IndigoBlu Clumber Park<\/a> set, which are perfect for scenic stamping. I managed to stick to only red, blue and white, with the addition of a tiny bit of beige. The stamping was done with Red Geranium Archival Ink<\/a> and Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy<\/a>. The sentiment comes from the new Uplifting Thoughts<\/a> stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. I thought it fitted well with the dog stamp. For dogs, almost every day is a good day to smile.<\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> loves this color combination and used\u00a0\u00a0Indigoblu Stamp Crackleglaze<\/a>\u00a0for the star.<\/p>\n

I couldn’t choose just one color of these three because together \u00a0they are fabulous! Even though I’m \u00a0Italian, I love to create a project each year for July 4, this time I wanted to test myself with the fabric! I chose the wonderful Indigoblu Stamp “Crackleglaze”<\/a> to create \u00a0my star, cut with Sizzix Tim Holtz die 3-D STAR BRIGHT<\/a>. Substrate sheets<\/a> in brown color ,Textile surfaces<\/a> in blue color and Tim Holtz stencil “Stars”<\/a> for the background, Eclectic element<\/a> and various Idea ology<\/a> strings and ribbons for the rest of my piece!<\/p>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0created a wall hanging to celebrate the 4th of July.<\/p>\n

I created my wall hanging using IndigoBlu Tasty Textures<\/a> and Ink Splat Butterfly<\/a> stamps and my sentiment was created using the Tim Holtz Alpha Grunge<\/a> background stamp. I added some Idea-ology Souvenir Adornments<\/a> and Number Tokens<\/a> attached to a metal chain link and hung those from the Tim Holtz Display Hanger<\/a>. To finish off my display, I added some Tim Holtz Mirrored Stars<\/a> to the display hanger.<\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a> create a tag perfect to tie on a 4th of July treat for her favorite pups using Indigo Blu Dukes Gang<\/a> stamps.<\/p>\n

I created my tag this week using some cork textured surfaces<\/a> as a base and spraying with them with Distress Stains in Mermaid Lagoon<\/a> and Candied Apple<\/a>. \u00a0I used the same stains to color in my Reverse Confetti Happy Pretty Panels die<\/a> and stamped it with a sentiment from the Whole Lotta Happy<\/a> set. I then added these cute little pups from the Indigo Blu Duke’s Gang <\/a>stamps, watercolored in using Distress Inks in Mermaid Lagoon<\/a> and Candied Apple<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0created a celebration of the 4th of July using IndigoBlu’s Limor Circles stamp set<\/a> to create the background.<\/p>\n

I love creating backgrounds and for this challenge I found the perfect set of stamps to work with for my 4th of July panel! I started with a piece of canvas paper and stamped the circles from the Limor Circles stamp set<\/a> across the centre. I painted the circles with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Snowflake paint<\/a> for the white areas and then,\u00a0Festive Berries<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Chipped Sapphire Distress Paint<\/a> for the red and blue. I also added a touch of gesso into the coloured circles. I then completed my background with Antique Linen<\/a> and Frayed Burlap<\/a> Distress Paints to create a vintage look before layering die cut metal<\/a>\u00a0Stacked Stars<\/a>, embossed with the Tiny Stars Texture Fade<\/a>, vintage Ephemera pieces<\/a>, a beautiful image from the Occasions Found Relative set<\/a> and to complete the panel, a Letterpress<\/a> number.<\/p>\n

Kath\u00a0<\/a>loves butterflies and created a garden themed tile.<\/p>\n

I covered the chipboard tile with a thick layer of white gesso<\/a> and while it was still wet laid down the die cuts from Sizzix\/Tim Holtz Mixed Media Thinlit<\/a>s. Once it was dry I pounced on more gesso with a paper towel to create a stippled whitewashed garden wall effect. I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte<\/a> over the tile and coloured the die cuts with the Chipped Sapphire Distress Crayon<\/a> rubbing it in to the detail with my finger and smudging to create a softer look. I added Wildflower Thinlits die cuts<\/a> and used the Faber Castell Walnut Brown Big Brush Pen<\/a> to create shadows around the die cuts. I stamped the butterflies from the Indigo Blue<\/a> Floral Fantasty Stamp set on to Ranger Watercolor Paper<\/a> with Black Archival Ink<\/a> and coloured with Candied Apple<\/a> and Chipped Sapphire<\/a> Distress Markers using Ranger Detailer Water Brush<\/a> and added highlights with the Signo Uniball White Pen<\/a>. I cut them out and fixed the first layer of butterflies with Distress Collage Medium Matte, fixing the second layer with a spot of \u00a0Glossy Accents<\/a> on the body section only to create dimension. I stamped the sentiment on to SSS black card<\/a> with Versamark ink<\/a> and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder<\/a>, cut out to create individual word tiles.\u00a0I used the Walnut Brown Faber Castell Pen to add shadows around the butterflies and sentiment and added splatters using Black Soot<\/a> and Picket Fence<\/a> Distress Spray Stains. I coloured Idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon<\/a> with Candied Apple Distress Spray Stain<\/a> and created a double bow, finishing off with a twine bow<\/a>. I used the Black Soot Distress Paint Dabber<\/a> to colour the edge of the tile.<\/p>\n

Lols<\/a> made a 4th of July card using an Indogoblu Tasty Textures Background Stamp<\/a><\/p>\n

One of these days I will go to the US during the 4th of July celebrations, I am sure the atmosphere during the parades would be amazing! I made this card to wish all of my friends on the other side of the pond a vey Happy 4th July! I used some Corrugated Card<\/a> for the base and then splattered some Watercolor Paper<\/a> with London Blue<\/a> and White Linen<\/a> Inks. I stamped the stripes with Hero Arts Red Royal<\/a> ink and then coloured the Stacked Stars<\/a> with Faded Jeans Paint and London Blue<\/a> ink before sprinkling with Blue Glitter<\/a>. I die cut a Star using Burlap<\/a> and then aded a few splurges of Gesso<\/a> before adhering the Small Talk Stickers <\/a>to finish<\/p>\n

Macarena <\/a>will always remember using Indigo Blu Dinkie Poppy Stamp<\/a><\/p>\n

I covered the tag with\u00a0White Gesso<\/a>\u00a0randomly and unevenly.\u00a0After that I applied the gesso through the\u00a0Mini Tiny Circles\u00a0<\/a>stencil.\u00a0I wet the surface, put\u00a0Red and Blue Ecoline<\/a>\u00a0letting it spread upright over the tag. When the colors seem to be too strong I apply my favorite smoothing\u00a0Dylusions Paint White Linen<\/a>. I love the effect it gives \u00a0when I feel I have exaggerated with colors. When the paint was still wet I sprinkled\u00a0Black Embossing Powder<\/a>\u00a0randomly and melted it with a heat tool. I used\u00a0Black Marble Dylusions Paint<\/a>\u00a0and the White Linen as well to make the ink splats. As a background element I chose the\u00a0Ring Frame<\/a>\u00a0(thanks Sandra!) As a focal point I used the\u00a0Indigo Blu Dinkie Poppy<\/a>\u00a0stamped softly with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and watercolored with the same color. After that to get the result even more soft, I applied\u00a0White Linen Dylusions Paint<\/a>\u00a0over the flower as well. Finally I placed the\u00a0Big Chat Stickers<\/a>\u00a0and embellished the flower with\u00a0Clustered Leaves<\/a>\u00a0(thanks Sandra!) and some\u00a0red sequins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maura<\/a> is celebrating the Fourth of July with the beautiful Indigo Blu Plume stamp set by Limor Webber.<\/a><\/p>\n

With our red, white and blue theme, I knew I wanted to work in my art journal with lots of paint, so pulled out my Dylusions London Blue<\/a> and Postbox Red<\/a>, as well as Paper Artsy’s Inky Pool<\/a> and Autumn\u00a0Fire<\/a>. Don’t forget the white, and for that I used Dina Wakley’s Heavy Body White<\/a>. I had fun doing some mark making with Paper Artsy’s EEA02 set<\/a> and trying out my Ranger Texture Tools<\/a> for the first time.<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to created a mixed media tag using Kibble Pups Stam<\/a>p with red, white and blue colors.<\/p>\n

I really love this adorable Kibble Pups stamp<\/a> from IndigoBlu, so after stamping and embossing it using Colorbox black ink<\/a> and clear embossing powder<\/a>, I colored the image with Sakura Watercolor<\/a>. Some Index Labels<\/a> and sentiment stickers<\/a>\u00a0were adhered to decorate the tag.<\/p>\n

Sandra<\/a> made a holiday project with the Splattered Heart<\/a> stamp from Indigo Blu<\/p>\n

\nThese colors are so dramatic, and I find them difficult to work with. But I love a challenge, and I’m so happy with the way it turned out. I’ve used Blueprint Sketch<\/a>, Chipped Sapphire<\/a>, Canded Apple<\/a> and Fired Brick<\/a> Distress ink to make my background. With the Stars<\/a><\/span><\/span> stencil I created some interest. The Globe<\/a> thinlit die is perfect for this project!<\/p>\n
