Summer is a wonderful season to enjoy your garden, the weather is warm enough to sit outside and relax, invite friends over for barbecues and enjoy picnics on the grass. We can’t wait to see what creations you make for this challenge!<\/p>\n

This week we are showcasing products from\u00a0Paper Artsy<\/a>, if you have them we would love to see them used but you don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The lovely and super talented Alison Bomber <\/a>aka Words And Pictures<\/a>\u00a0is joining us in the Designer Spotlight this month. If you haven’t seen her blog you are in for a real treat! Please pop by to say ‘Hi’ and leave her a lovely comment<\/p>\n

Alison<\/a>\u00a0loves a wild and natural garden so her summer garden panel made using PaperArtsy Hot Picks<\/a>\u00a0captures that feeling<\/p>\n

The tag at the heart has a\u00a0Distress Ink<\/a>\u00a0background and wildflowers and grasses from the\u00a0PaperArtsy Hot Picks<\/a>\u00a0stamp range and a\u00a0PaperArtsy butterfly<\/a>\u00a0hovers over it all. \u00a0My garden is full of\u00a0trailing ivy cut with the\u00a0Tim Holtz Spring Greenery Decorative Strip Die<\/a>, and it winds its way over a textured stone wall created with the\u00a0Wendy Vecchi Basically Bricks Stencil<\/a>. \u00a0The flowers from the\u00a0Prima Flowers Sweet Vintage Box<\/a>\u00a0have been altered with\u00a0PaperArtsy\u00a0Fresco Finish Paints<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Distress Stain Sprays<\/a>, and the metallic accents are mainly from the\u00a0Prima Sunrise Sunset Vintage Trinkets<\/a>. \u00a0And I can’t manage without some words, so there are some\u00a0Tim Holtz Idea-ology Small Talk<\/a>\u00a0stickers as a finishing touch.<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> loved adding a Summer garden section to her altered board book using Paper Artsy Eclectica stamps.<\/p>\n

When it comes to whimsical outdoorsy shapes, you can’t beat Paper Artsy’s Eclectica 3\/2 stamp set<\/a> by Kim Dellow.\u00a0 I adore the lollipop-looking trees and flowers, which pair beautifully with a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp’s own Hello Sunshine dies<\/a>.\u00a0 For a party feel, I also incorporated a banner made with Carabelle Studio’s Frise Nuage edge stamp<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> loves flower stamps and used a lovely Eclectica3 stamp set by Paper Artsy<\/a>, by Lin Brown.<\/p>\n

I had such fun making this flower garden scene in my large Dylusions art journal<\/a>. Apart from the stamp set mentioned above, I also used Paper Artsy’s\u00a0Eclectica 3 #12<\/a>, by Sara Naumann, for one of the sentiments and various textures. The page was watercoloured with Prima’s watercolour sets, such as the Tropicals<\/a>, and the text was embossed with white embossing powder<\/a> from Simon Says Stamp.<\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> likes to make experiments: Paper Artsy \u00a0Rusting powder<\/a> \u00a0is perfect for this challenge!<\/p>\n

My summer garden is a rusty garden! To achieve this effect I used Paper Artsy Rusting Powder<\/a> and Tim Holtz Sizzix \u00a0Wildflowers Thinlits die<\/a>. It was the first time I experienced Rusting powder \u00a0 and the result is fabulous! To frame my flowers I printed a label from Tim Holtz Label Frames set<\/a> \u00a0and \u00a0I used a stamp from Paper Artsy Stamp HOT PICK 1501<\/a>\u00a0. For the large background I used Fresco Finish paints Antarctic<\/a> and Guacamole<\/a>, I added a small photo from Idea-ology Photobooth<\/a> and \u00a0 Crinkle ribbon <\/a>to give a vintage feeling to my \u00a0work!<\/p>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0created a Summer Garden panel using stamps from several Paper Artsy stamp sets.<\/p>\n

I love Paper Artsy Stamps<\/a> and have quite a large collection. They are wonderful not only for mixed media creations but their smaller sets make beautiful cards as well. I chose to create a Summer Garden panel using flowers and other bits and pieces from several Paper Artsy Stamp sets, EKC01<\/a>, EKC02<\/a>, EEV06<\/a>, JOFY32<\/a>, ELB22<\/a>, and ELB15<\/a>. I created the main background and colored my flowers with Fresco Finish Paints using the brayer<\/a> technique and added a lovely sentiment from the ELB15<\/a> stamp set.<\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a>\u00a0used Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Paints to create a background for her mini garden canvas.<\/p>\n

I am certainly not a gardener, but I do love to enjoy nature in the warm weather. I created this mini canvas with a by painting a Dina Wakley Media Board<\/a> panel with Paper Artsy Fresco Finish paints in Amethyst<\/a>, Chartreuse<\/a> and Chalk<\/a>. I added lots of greens by cutting out a bunch of leaves from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Spring Greenery<\/a> Die. I decorated a Tim Holtz vignette box<\/a> to finish off my panel using a found relatives card<\/a>, tissue tape<\/a>, hex fasteners<\/a>, and a small talk sticker. I then covered the box, and gave the rest of the project a quick splatter of picket fence and tarnished brass paints applied with the Distress Splatter brush<\/a> to finish it off.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints<\/a> to create a crackled<\/a> background for her vintage summer garden canvas!<\/p>\n

I absolutely adore my garden and when summer arrives I love seeing all the flowers spring into life, especially the roses which tumble down a trellis and this vision inspired me to create a canvas in a soft vintage style, full of layers and texture. For my background, I used a layer of French Roast Paint<\/a> before adding the Crackle Glaze<\/a>. I then applied a layer of Snowflake paint<\/a> over the top and watched the crackles appear! I then used Distress Crayons to add more depth and to create the worn effect to the background before adding my focal point of the roses, stamped using the images from Tim Holtz’s Lady Rose Stamp Set<\/a>. To complete the canvas, I added some punched butterflies <\/a>and a Small Talk Sticker.<\/a><\/p>\n

Kath<\/a> decorated a canvas with the Electica 3\/02 stamp set <\/a>designed by her lovely and very talented friend Kim Dellow<\/p>\n

\"Garden<\/a><\/p>\n

I applied a coat of White Gesso<\/a> to the canvas and then drybrushed with PaperArtsy Haystack<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0Sugar Plum<\/a> and Snowflake<\/a> Fresco Finish Chalk Paints to create a patchy background effect. I loaded the edge of my palette knife with Snowflake to create a random cross hatch pattern. I stamped the cloud image with Black Archival<\/a>, painted with Hey Pesto<\/a>, outlined and created dots with a Sharpie White Extra Fine Point marker<\/a>. I stamped the large flowers from the Electica3 EKD02 stamp set<\/a> in Black Archival and coloured by pouncing on paint with a stiff bristled brush,stamped the spray of flowers in between and the squares stamp around the edges. I re-defined the detail on the large flowers with a Prima Black Mixed Media Marker<\/a>. I created a highlight around the large flowers and stems using the Sharpie White Marker and also used it to colour in the spray flowers and small squares. I stamped the birds on to scrap card coloured with Haystack and a Plum\/Snowflake mix, cut them out and mixed and matched the body details and tails. I popped them on 3D foam to sit on top of the Idea-ology Big Chat<\/a> and Small Talk Stickers<\/a> and finished off by decorating the canvas with self adhesive pearls from my stash.<\/p>\n

Lols<\/a> used Eclectica 3\/01 Stamp Set <\/a>designed by Kim Dellow<\/p>\n

Summer is my favorite month, even though it can get unbearably hot there is always the cool pool or mediterranean sea to jump into. I used the rubble wall die from a Mixed Media 3 set<\/a> to create a rocky area and then popped the cute little hedgehogs in the shade of the trees to protect them from the blazing sun. I inked the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink<\/a> and then stamped the little circles with Aquamarine Archival Ink<\/a> before using a Dot Fade Stencil <\/a>and White Embossing Paste<\/a> over the top.<\/p>\n

Macarena<\/a>\u00a0loves the beauty of nature using one of the sweet Jofy Mini<\/a> stamps!<\/p>\n

\nThe Paper Artsy stamps are adorable. I love my\u00a0Jofy Mini<\/a>.\u00a0I started with the grass made with\u00a0Mini Well Rounded<\/a>\u00a0stencil, white gesso melted with\u00a0Lindy’s Stamp Fresh Lime<\/a>\u00a0spray. \u00a0Than I stamped the flower several times and colored them with\u00a0Distress Inks<\/a>.\u00a0I stamped some additional flower heads and glued them with 3D dots randomly.\u00a0I gave some shadow to the flowers with\u00a0Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon<\/a>.\u00a0The background was made with the same stencil and\u00a0Distress Inks<\/a>.\u00a0Finally I put some gesso through the\u00a0Mini Tiny Circles<\/a>\u00a0stencil.\u00a0The last step was to choose the\u00a0Rub-Ons<\/a>\u00a0and give a glossy to the flowers.<\/p>\n

Maura<\/a>\u00a0is adding garden moths with Paper Artsy Everything Art set 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I love my gardens and years ago, I wanted to turn all of my lawn into gardens…that is until I realized how much weeding would be involved! Today, I am happy to create a garden in my art journal, starting with the lovely chalk finish Paper Artsy paints in Limelight<\/a>, Zesty Zing<\/a>, and Beach Hut<\/a>. The Paper Artsy Jofy stenci<\/a>l and Ranger texture paste<\/a> work as a dynamic duo to build the garden. I hope you are enjoying your gardens as much as I am mine.<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> created a mixed media canvas with many beautiful flowers and Paper Artsy sentiment stamp.

I really enjoy watering flowers and plants in summer and see all the different colors in the garden. On this canvas, I created the background colors with Distress Paints<\/a>, and distressed the edges with ColorBox Inkpad<\/a> and Art Daubers<\/a>. Some Prima Flowers and Tim Holtz metal embellishments<\/a> were adhered. I stamped the Paper Artsy sentiment with ColorBox ink pad and pasted it to add more interest.<\/p>\n

\nSummer is after Spring my favorite season. And a great summer garden party is always fun! I started this page with Prima Marketing Opal Magic Alchemy Paint Rose-Gold<\/a> and used the EM17<\/a> and JM 16<\/a> stamps from Paper Artsy to start building up the page. With Distress Crayons set 1<\/a> I’ve colored them. Love the vibrant color on top of the rose paint.<\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a> made a bright tag using Hot Pick 1301\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

I used two of my favorite Dylusions Paint – Bubblegum Pink<\/a> and Lemon Zest<\/a>\u00a0to add color to a\u00a0#8 Manila Tag<\/a>\u00a0, I also added texture using pieces of Tissue Wrap Paper by Tim Holtz<\/a>. One of my favorite stamps by PaperArtsy is Hot Pick 1301 , so i wanted to use it as background but also make it pop up by double stamping the butterfly and three flowers and adhere them to the tag with 3d foam adhesive.<\/p>\n
