This is\u00a0Kassa<\/a>‘s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your fabulous creations over the past weeks. It has been a real pleasure having you along with us!<\/p>\n

Kassa<\/a>\u00a0made a stunning wreath of flowers using pink tones<\/p>\n

‘Monochrome’ is a gift for a girly girl like me! I went all pink, was spoilt with a lush choice of\u00a0Tim Holtz Distress Paints<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Distress Stain Sprays<\/a>. \u00a0Talking spoilt for choice, I got 5 of my 6\u00a0Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals Dies\u00a0<\/a>out to create the varyious sized flowers for this beautiful ‘sunny days’ wreath finished with a length of\u00a0Tim Holtz Ideaology Crinkle Ribbon\u00a0<\/a>,Occasions Small Talk Stickers<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sequins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> made a trio of monochromatic tags.<\/p>\n

I am a color-holic mixer-matcher, so the idea of sticking to tones of the same color for each project was quite terrifying.\u00a0 Monochrome I am\u00a0 not.\u00a0 But you can see by the fact that I’m typing this that I survived and really ended up enjoying this challenge.\u00a0 I had a lot of fun with Reverse Confetti’s new Big Stripes Color Plate die<\/a>, which I used to cover all of my Tim Holtz Framelits die-cut tags<\/a>.\u00a0 I also went to town with those Seth Apter Spellbinders dies I’m loving: Robo Rings<\/a> and Ring Around<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> planned to go with yellow, but then picked pistachio after a dream.<\/p>\n

I woke up in the morning and just knew I wanted to use Cracked Pistachio<\/a> as my colour for this challenge, and it is such a stunning colour. A few darker shades of turquoise were also added to my wall-hanger. The focal point is one of Tim Holtz Sideshow<\/a> stamps and it was paired up with a great sentiment stamp<\/a>. I also used Woodgrain paper<\/a> and die cut some gears<\/a> from foil tape.<\/p>\n

It’s so difficult to me to work with only one color! I chose a gold\/brown palette for my panel ! \u00a0My Layered dragonfly<\/a> was cut on \u00a0Tim Holtz Idea-ology TEXTILE SURFACES Paperie <\/a>and painted with Walnut stain \u00a0Distress crayons<\/a> \u00a0with a little touch of Ranger VINTAGE Shiny Transfer Foil<\/a> . For the background I used Tim Holtz Rubber Stamp PATCHWORK 2 Stampers Anonymous<\/a> and Sizzix Mosaic <\/a>with Distress inks pads. \u00a0To create the frame I used Tim Holtz Sizzix CROSSHATCH Frameworks Die<\/a> , \u00a0cut \u00a0from two different Core’dinations collections<\/a>: Metallic and Nostalgic.<\/div>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0used different shades of brown for her monochrome “Couture” panel.<\/p>\n

I created my panel using Prima’s Tales of You and Me 8×8 paper<\/a> collection and added a skirt to the dress form by spraying some card stock with water using the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer<\/a>. This enabled the card stock to break down so I could easily shape it into a skirt. \u00a0I added a bit of whimsy with Tim Holtz Detailed Butterflies<\/a> that I cut in half and adhered to the back of the dress form for wings. I added a few flourishes such as Spellbinders Foliage Flourish<\/a> and some paper roses.<\/p>\n

Cheiron <\/a>created a monochrome look with all of the purples in the Ranger Distress line.<\/p>\n

I created this tag by painting it with Shaded Lilac Distress paint then stamping by spraying Wilted Violet Distress Spray Stain<\/a> on a Ranger non stick craft sheet<\/a> and dipping my stamp from the Halftone and Rings<\/a> set into it. \u00a0I layered more stamps from the Big Top<\/a> set and added a flash card<\/a>, some tissue tape\u00a0<\/a>and a mirrored star <\/a>to finish off my tag.<\/p>\n

Kath<\/a> created a Monochrome look with one of her favourite Distress Colours – Hickory Smoke<\/a><\/p>\n

I fixed Idea-ology Sketchbook<\/a>\u00a0and Symphony<\/a> Tissue Tape to my art journal pages and covered with Hickory Smoke Distress Paint<\/a> applied with a baby wipe. I inked the Halftone stamp<\/a> with Black Soot and Hickory Smoke from Tim Holtz Distress Mixed Media Palette<\/a> and stamped randomly over the background. I applied Wendy Vecchi Crackled Texture Paste<\/a> through the brick stencil from Mini Layering Stencils Set 3 <\/a>and once dry coloured with the Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon<\/a>, rubbing it into the texture with my finger and wiping back the surface with a baby wipe. I die cut the Radiant Sunflower<\/a> from black card<\/a> and paper covered with the Symphony Tissue Tape. I inked the Halftone stamp with the Picket Fence Distress Ink Pad<\/a> and stamped on the black circles for the flower centres. I fixed down the tissue tape circles randomly and created a shadow around the edges with the Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon. I scuffed up the edges of the Big Chat Stickers<\/a> with the Tim Holtz Sanding Grip Tool<\/a> before fixing to the pages.<\/p>\n

Lols<\/a>\u00a0also loves the soft grey tones of Hickory Smoke<\/a>!<\/p>\n

I started by \u00a0using White Embossing Powder<\/a> to heat emboss a piece of Watercolor Paper<\/a> using a Halftone Cling Stamp<\/a> to create a resist. I then blended the Hickory Smoke Distress Ink<\/a> around the edges before using a brick wall mask, made by die cutting a Mixed Media 3 Thinlits Die<\/a>, to add more interest. I then used a Wildflowers Cling Stamp<\/a>, inked using the same Hickory Smoke ink<\/a> for the background. I used a Wildflowers Die<\/a> and a Thanks die cut <\/a>for the focus and finished with a pice of Washi Tape and a White Twine<\/a> Bow.<\/p>\n

Macarena <\/a>doesn’t lose hope…<\/p>\n

I chose my fave shades of fuccsia\/purple with a touch of black and white.\u00a0The background is made on a watercolor paper colored with\u00a0Distress Inks<\/a>. \u00a0A lot of water and layers of colors. I just couldn’t stop :-)\u00a0When I was quite satisfied with the blending of colors, I stamped randomly some\u00a0background patterns<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0Archival Jet Black Ink<\/a>\u00a0and put some accents with a\u00a0White Sharpie Pen<\/a>. I embossed the great sentiment from\u00a0Ponderings by Tim Holtz\u00a0<\/a>and again gave a touch of White Sharpie.\u00a0The\u00a0dragonfly<\/a>\u00a0was stamped with Black Jet as well and softly colored\u00a0with\u00a0Seedles Preseves Distress Ink<\/a>. I finished the edges with\u00a0Hickory Smoke Distress Ink Pad<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maura<\/a> \u00a0is using the healing power of art journaling this week.<\/p>\n

I am feeling rather blue, so I chose Dina Wakley’s Ocean heavy body acrylic paint <\/a>as my color. What better tool to apply it with than a Dina Wakley stiff bristle brush<\/a>? Stencils are great to add layers to any art journal page, and I love Dina’s Leafy Media stencil<\/a>. I just took some wonderful classes with Dina, so was inspired to use some of the same products we used in class. Nathalie Kahlbach has some awesome texture stamps that I used, like Grunge <\/a>and Mish Mesh.<\/a>\u00a0I stamped with my favorite ink, Ranger’s Jet Black Archival<\/a>. I’ve learned my art journal can be a wonderful place to work through difficult times and can be very healing.<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> created a mixed media tag with citron color scheme.

This week, I was inspired to create this tag with the shade of citron on the background. After coloring the background with Distress Paint<\/a>, I stamped using\u00a0Tim Holtz Random Quotes rubber stamp<\/a>. The tag was decorated with Tim Holtz Townscape die<\/a> and\u00a0Leave die<\/a>. I pasted some Big Chat Stickers<\/a> and metal embellishment<\/a>\u00a0for the sentiment.<\/p>\n

Of course Sandra<\/a> chose her favorite color turquoise<\/p>\n

As you might know my favorite color is turquoise, so I had to go with that color for the monochromatic theme. I made a background with Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions Paint<\/a> and a baby wipe. As black isn’t a real color, I had to use it to make some shading and a little contrast with Black Tie Paint Dabber<\/a>, Jet Black Archival Ink<\/a> and a Black Aquarelle Pencil<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a>\u00a0used Distress Paint <\/a>to create these two projects!<\/p>\n

Thinking in “monocolor” has always been my safe place, my confort zone. I made these two projects using the same products (just different colors), same stencils, same idea…just as i used to! Distress Paint<\/a> came to the rescue, and I loved to use the Mini Stencil <\/a>by Tim Holtz! I also used tissue tape and stickers..all by Tim Holtz!<\/p>\n
