This is\u00a0Beulah<\/a>‘s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your fabulous creations over the past month, It has been a pleasure having you along with us!<\/p>\n

Beulah<\/a>\u00a0made an assemblage that celebrates creativity.<\/p>\n

\"Simon\"<\/a><\/p>\n

An\u00a0Idea-ology Quote Band<\/a>\u00a0inspired me to assemble a variety of metal objects including a\u00a0Gadget Gear<\/a>,\u00a0Faucet Knob<\/a>, and\u00a0Number Brad<\/a>\u00a0along with a vintage key and some rusty bits found on the street. A\u00a0Burlap Panel<\/a>\u00a0worked well for my support because the base is solid and easy to glue or drill through and I used an image transfer technique to create the background using a page from the\u00a0Destinations Paper Stash<\/a>. I thought the altered\u00a0Salvaged Doll<\/a>\u00a0could be an artist, the faucet knob represents effort, the number stands for time, the key unlocks the idea, the gear stands for the process and the result is beauty represented by the three\u00a0Heirloom Roses<\/a>. Just don’t come anywhere near it with a magnet!<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> combined all sorts of metal bits and bobs to make this artsy key ring.<\/p>\n

This challenge theme inspired me to have fun with some keys that I sanded<\/a>, covered with Gesso<\/a> and colored with Dina Wakley acrylic paint<\/a>.\u00a0 And since keys need a home, I went for the whole ball of wax with an artsy key ring.\u00a0 I used a ton of Tim Holtz goodies (letterpress letter<\/a>, Little Words stamp<\/a>, enameled tags<\/a>, trinket pins<\/a>, etc.) to bring my key ring to life.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> added to her collection of metallic tags this week.<\/p>\n

I had some left-over Tim Holtz remnant rubs<\/a> on my desk and started to apply them to a tag covered with torn metallic tape. After a bit of sanding and inking with alcohol inks, I thought the background was pretty cool and almost didn’t want to cover it up. The label<\/a>, car<\/a> and words were stamped with Tim’s Distress Archival Ink Palette<\/a> and I also added a bunch of metallic idea-ology pieces<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> was inspired by steampunk and springtime!<\/p>\n

I love metal and I love Steampunk style! For this reason I couldn’t resist to \u00a0use the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Gearhead Thinlits \u00a0Die<\/a> with which I decorated the roof of my little house that I cut with Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Village Dwelling<\/a>! In my springly \u00a0garden I used different \u00a0elements Idea-ology <\/a>and Prima Marketing<\/a> altered with \u00a0Distress Paints <\/a>and Prima Flowers Metallique \u00a0Paint Steampunk Copper!<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0went outside her comfort zone and created a steampunk themed canvas.<\/p>\n

I created my steampunk bird from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Regal<\/a>, Timepieces Clock Face<\/a>\u00a0and Clock Keys<\/a> metal pieces. The vibrant colors on my base canvas are Dylusions Paints<\/a> applied using one of my favorite techniques of applying paint with a Ranger Brayer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a>\u00a0used metallic paper and a faux metal embellishment on her card.<\/p>\n

I created my card base and most of the die cut pieces from\u00a0Reverse Confetti Cuts flowers for Mom<\/a> dies and Tim Holtz Kraft Core Metallic Paper<\/a>. I made some coordinating Distress Woodgrain Cardstock<\/a> with Distress Spray stains in Cracked Pistachio<\/a>, Salty Ocean<\/a> and Tarnished Brass<\/a>. I also used the stains and some tissue wrap to create my flower. I substituted the traditional flower center with one of the Hello Love Resin Embellishments<\/a>\u00a0to finish off my card.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0couldn’t resist the temptation of using metal as the main feature of her card!<\/p>\n

\"MetalEmma\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Just as I started working on this week’s challenge, the Tim Holtz Gearhead Thinlits Dies<\/a> had just arrived on my desk and since metal and gears are a match made in heaven, how could I resist the temptation!?! So, I created a project, using metal foil tape<\/a> to create a background, embossed with the Riveted Metal Texture Fade<\/a>\u00a0before being coloured with Tarnished Brass<\/a> and Black Soot Distress Paints<\/a> to create a rusty effect. After an addition of Distress Crayon, I created a circular frame for my Imaginary<\/a> stamped image and surrounded it with die cut gears and metal embellishments!<\/p>\n

Kath<\/a>\u00a0used an embossing powder recipe mix to create a rusty metal effect on her photo album cover<\/p>\n

\"1-metal<\/a><\/p>\n

I used\u00a0Metal Foil Tape<\/a>\u00a0with an embossing folder to create my background. I \u00a0coloured the metal sheet with Black and Vintage Photo Distress Crayons from Set 3<\/a>\u00a0and wiped the colour back slightly with a paper towel. I used a mix of embossing powders ( a Wendy Vecchi recipe) to create my rust effect on the edges of the cover, the gears die cut using\u00a0Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits Gearhead<\/a>\u00a0and an ElementaryFlashcard from my stash. I decorated the gears with Idea-ology Nailheads<\/a>\u00a0and added Dapper Design Tape<\/a> and words from Idea-ology Big Chat<\/a> and Small Talk<\/a> \u00a0Stickers<\/p>\n

My card is full of\u00a0hearts\u00a0<\/a>and colors.\u00a0The hearts are cut from a watercolor paper.\u00a0The base is\u00a0Prima Salvage District<\/a>\u00a0paper stamped with circles\u00a0and covered with a heavy acetate just to moderate the black circles. It seems my fave color combo contains\u00a0purple\u00a0<\/a>+\u00a0turquoise<\/a>\u00a0distress colors.\u00a0I’ve mixed it with some\u00a0Hickory Smoke<\/a>\u00a0to outline the edges and inside of the hearts, then I add some\u00a0White Pen<\/a>\u00a0touches to the hearts.\u00a0I stamped slightly a\u00a0lace and stitch<\/a>\u00a0with the same grey distress.\u00a0Glued all the composition with the 3D dots and put the\u00a0metal sentiment<\/a>\u00a0inside the heart. Finally I drag the\u00a0twine<\/a>\u00a0between two hearts and made a bow.\u00a0The last thing was cutting the\u00a0Love word<\/a>\u00a0and hang it up the twine.<\/p>\n

A rusty pocket watch inspired Maura<\/a> to create a steampunk style shadow box.<\/p>\n

I loved that I got to try out some new products this week. It all started with the wonderfully rusty Finnabair Mechanicals Pocket Watchers by Prima<\/a>. I knew I wanted to try out the Ice Resin<\/a> and Ivory Relique Iced Enamel<\/a> with the watch and fill it with old watch parts. It is amazing stuff ! Then, Prima’s Stamp-N-Add Moth Wings <\/a>arrived in the mail, and I just had to add it to the shadowbox of every day treasures.<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> is planning her family summer trip already.<\/p>\n

I was inspired to create this mixed media tag with some metal elements and the travel theme. The background of this tag was embossed with Tim Holtz Texture Fades Embossing Folder<\/a> and colored with Distress ink pads<\/a>. After covering the tag with Faber-Castell Glitter Gel<\/a>, I attached the metal embellishments<\/a> as the final touch.<\/p>\n

Sandra<\/a> was inspired by the metallic shimmer of the foil

\nI’m in love with the new Halftone & Rings<\/a> stamp set from Tim Holtz! When picked it up from the post office the other day, it was inked up within minutes! I painted some Opal Magic Alchemist Paint<\/a> over it to bring in the metallic shimmer, and the black ink became gold metallic. It really is magical paint! To add more metallic, I\u00a0used\u00a0a\u00a0glue stick with Prima Rub On\u00a0Foil<\/a>.\u00a0I used the new Painted Faith<\/a> die from Simon Says Stamp from the My Favorite\u00a0release<\/a>! But also the new Butterfly Ensemble dies <\/a>from Memory Box.<\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a> decided to alter cardboard box to gift her friend a necklace<\/p>\n

\"Mixed-Media-Jewlry-box-Scrapsaurus\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I love working with metal colors, and it is so easy when you work with Art Alchemy by Prima Marketing<\/a>!. I also used The Crafter’s Workshop Mini Harlequin Stencil<\/a>\u00a0to add some transparent Heavy Body gel<\/a>. As always Tim Holtz small talks are the perfect add on to the whole project!<\/p>\n
