Thank you for joining us for the We Can See Clearly Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.<\/p>\n

This week we are challenging you to<\/p>\n

TRY TO RESIST<\/span><\/h2>\n

Definition:\u00a0Resist techniques<\/b>\u00a0in art use the incompatibility of two mediums to create layered effects with color and texture.<\/p>\n

There are so many products that we can use to create a resist, Embossing Powder<\/a>, Crayons<\/a>, Molotow Pens<\/a>, Masking Fluids<\/a> and many more. We will be looking forward to seeing what you use!<\/p>\n

We are showcasing RANGER PRODUCTS<\/a> this week. You don’t have to use them to join in, but if you have them we would love to see them used.<\/p>\n

We are welcoming the super talented Beulah Bee <\/a>into this months Designer Spotlight. If you haven’t visited her blog please pop over for a browse, her work is fabulous!<\/p>\n

Beulah<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0experimented with a distressed resist technique using\u00a0Ranger’s Ultra Thick Embossing Powder<\/a><\/p>\n

Everything is in full-bloom here in the Arizona desert and that inspired me to create a tag using my\u00a0Tim Holtz Flower Garden Stamp Set<\/a>.\u00a0The lines of the stamps are very finely detailed but I wanted to make them look more distressed. I used a watercolor emboss-resist technique with a bit of a twist by combining\u00a0ColorBox Frost White Pigment Ink<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0Ranger’s Ultra Thick Embossing Powder<\/a>.\u00a0The background stamping was made with the\u00a0Tim Holtz Ledger Script Set<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ranger’s Watering Can Archival Ink<\/a>. My embellishments include some\u00a0Idea-ology Lace Trimmings<\/a>\u00a0and a\u00a0Small Talk<\/a>\u00a0sticker.<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> finds Dina Wakley’s heavy body Ranger acrylic paints<\/a> irresistible for projects like her altered board book.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite paint-resist supplies is Washi tape, which you can peel off once the paint dries, or leave partially painted for a semi-translucent look. I layered up the cover of my board book with some current Washi faves (Doodlebug Springtime Stripe<\/a> and Doodlebug Dainty Dots Spring Garden<\/a>) and added a lovely background element using Tim Holtz’s Courtyard Frameworks die<\/a>.\u00a0 And the paint!\u00a0 I can’t get enough of Dina Wakley’s Ranger line of heavy body acrylic paints.\u00a0 The colors I use most frequently are Turquoise<\/a> and Lime<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> loves resist techniques and used Ranger’s Transparent Gloss Texture Paste<\/a> for her media board<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Resist techniques are favourites of mine and here I was going to do one with Gloss Texture Paste and Dina Wakley’s acrylic paints<\/a>. However, I was writing something on the computer while waiting for the paint to dry a little, and forgot about the paint, so it dried completely and I couldn’t rub much of it off from the stenciled paste. Oops. I still like the subtle texture though. The cute birds come from Dina’s Scribbly Small Birdies<\/a> set.<\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> adores this technique and used\u00a0\u00a0Ultra Thick Embossing Powder \u00a0<\/a>to create a resist effect<\/p>\n

The resist technique is \u00a0one of my favorite techniques! I started with the background for my skinny card, using Distress sprays<\/a> in rainbow colors, Tim Holtz’s mini stencil Splatters<\/a> \u00a0and \u00a0Ranger Ultra Thick Embossing Powder CLEAR\u00a0<\/a>to create a resist effect! Third step: I mist Black soot Distress spray<\/a> over the whole \u00a0surface, making it appear my rainbow stains! I completed with lovely \u00a0Crazy Bird<\/a> \u00a0and \u00a0a wonderful phrase<\/a> stamped with Ranger Embossing Powder SUPER FINE WHITE<\/a>\u00a0on acetate.<\/p>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0 showcased different resist techniques using a\u00a0\u00a0Collage Glue Stick<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Clear Embossing Powder<\/a><\/p>\n

I love the effect resist techniques give to a mixed media project. I used Ranger Emboss It Dabber<\/a> along with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder<\/a> \u00a0on my first canvas for a more precise and clear resist effect. On my second canvas, I used Ranger Collage Glue Stick<\/a> with a baby wipe to create more of a “ghosting” resist effect.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a>\u00a0used Ranger White Embossing Powder<\/a> along with Distress Spray Stains to create the resist on her background.<\/p>\n

I love resist with embossing powder especially with Distress Spray Stains. What an easy way to create a background. This week I used the Tim Holtz Halftone and Rings Stamps<\/a> to create my background and went over it with Distress Spray Stains in Mermaid Lagoon<\/a>, Twisted Citron<\/a> and a bit of Distress Mica Spray in Tarnished Brass<\/a>. I finished off the tag with images from Dina Wakley’s Gals and Borders set.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0couldn’t resist using Ranger’s Super Fine Embossing Powder<\/a> to create a batik style background.<\/p>\n

I love the batik look and for my card, I created a faux batik background using embossing powder as a resist and one of Tim Holtz’s doily stamps<\/a>. I added colour using Cracked Pistachio<\/a> and Fossilized Amber <\/a>Distress Spray Stains before attaching die cut Wildflowers<\/a> and leaves stamped, and then inked with Wendy Vecchi’s Leaf Green Archival Ink<\/a>. As a finishing touch, I attached a word band<\/a> altered with Distress Paints.<\/p>\n

Kath<\/a>\u00a0couldn’t resist creating a storage solution for her Mini Layering Stencil collection using a\u00a0Distress Crayons Set\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\"1-My<\/a><\/p>\n

I used Idea-ology Numbers Remnants Rubs<\/a> , Ranger Clear Embossing Powder <\/a>and Transparent Matte Texture Paste<\/a> to create resist on my cover before colouring with Distress Crayons Set 1<\/a>\u00a0and used a slightly damp kitchen towel to wipe back the resist areas<\/p>\n

Lols <\/a>used Clear Embossing Powder<\/a> as a resist.<\/p>\n

I started with a piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper <\/a>and heat embossed some of Tim Holtz Wildflower Stamps<\/a> using Clear Embossing Powder <\/a>before inking with a selection of Distress Inks<\/a>. I then used a hot iron and scrap paper to remove the melted powder. I then repeated the process leaving ghost like flowers in the background. I then randomly stamped script text and spritzed with Picket Fence Distress Spray<\/a> and splattered with Dylusions Calypso Teal Ink<\/a> before using Embossing Paste<\/a> and a Dot Fade Stencil<\/a> to complete the background.<\/p>\n

Macarena <\/a>couldn’t resist spring-y Ranger Distress Inks<\/a> colors.<\/p>\n

I made my tag using amazing\u00a0Prima Paintables Watercolor paper<\/a>\u00a0which is so easy to color with\u00a0Distress Inks<\/a>\u00a0leaving resist patterns\u00a0as if were heat embossed.\u00a0I mixed lots of vibrant and springy colors\u00a0cause I wanted it to be fresh and light.\u00a0I sprayed all the colors with water leaving drops signs\u00a0and receiving irregular coloring which I like the most!\u00a0I distressed the edges as well.\u00a0The main element is the\u00a0Watch<\/a>\u00a0cut out from a solid carton\u00a0and paint with\u00a0white gesso<\/a>. After drying, I gave it 3 colorful\u00a0Distress Inks<\/a>\u00a0and stamped some words with\u00a0Archival Ink<\/a>.\u00a0I glued it with\u00a03D dots<\/a>\u00a0and put watercolored\u00a0Artful Flowers<\/a>\u00a0arround.\u00a0I cut out the word Relaxing from\u00a0Prima Paintables Watercolor<\/a>\u00a0paper\u00a0and inked it with\u00a0Salty Ocean Distress Ink<\/a>.\u00a0I placed another word inked with\u00a0Picked Raspberry Distress Ink<\/a>.\u00a0Finally I some accents with\u00a0White Extra Fine Sharpie Pen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maura<\/a> is trying out Ranger’s transparent texture paste <\/a>for the first time.<\/p>\n

\"Ranger\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I am thinking of Spring and keep finding myself drawn to bright cheery colors like the ones in my new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, Set 1<\/a> and Set 2<\/a>\u00a0also by Ranger. My inspiration for the colors came from the little felt inchies I made a long time ago, and the tiny flowers seemed just perfect for my spring theme. I was feeling quite creative while working away on my tag, and out came my Simon Says Stamp Create die.<\/a>\u00a0I truly do have so much fun creating!<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to create a mixed media canvas wall hanging using\u00a0Distress Paints<\/a>,<\/p>\n

\"Simply<\/a><\/p>\n

I really love beautiful Spring weather even it is raining. On this canvas, I stenciled the sentiment with Tim Holtz Stencil<\/a> and Distress Paints<\/a>, then heat embossed it using ColorBox Clear Embossing Powder<\/a>. The background then was colored with Koi watercolors<\/a>. Some Prima Flowers<\/a> and die cut butterflies were attached to decorate the lovely Spring scene.<\/p>\n

Sandra<\/a> added some resist with Ranger Transparent Texture Paste<\/a><\/p>\n

\nI love making my own backgrounds and building up from an empty sheet, and this time I started with Ranger Transparent Texture Paste Gloss<\/a>\u00a0and the Honeycomb<\/a> stencil for my art journal spread. This paste looks and feels a lot\u00a0like clear embossing powder. I sprayed with Cracked Pistachio<\/a> and Peacock Feathers<\/a> Distress Spray Stain over it,\u00a0some of it\u00a0soaked underneath, and I love that messy look.<\/em><\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a> used Ranger Triangular Collage Glue Stick<\/a> to create a glue resist effect…<\/p>\n

I love to create ATCs and the Ranger Mini Distress Ink<\/a>\u00a0are perfect to create awesome effects on such a small surface! I added layers with Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Ephemera Emporium<\/a>\u00a0and Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Photobooth.<\/a>
\nI added texture with Ranger Texture Paste<\/a><\/p>\n
