Hi all and welcome to another week on the\u00a0Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge<\/a><\/p>\n

TAKE A LEAP INTO THE UNKNOWN<\/span><\/h2>\n

As today is Leap Day we are leaping into the unknown! You choose to use a new technique, or it can also mean a new way of life, getting engaged, married, having a baby, new job, the possibilities are endless!<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> took an experimental leap by creating something she’d never made before: chairs!<\/p>\n

Nothing beats a comfy chair even if these are a little on the wonky side!\u00a0 I sewed and stuffed the cushions, which are made from some fabulous new patterned paper collections: Soiree<\/a> by Bo Bunny and Family Ties<\/a> by PhotoPlay.\u00a0 And don’t you love those sassy speech bubbles?\u00a0 I cut them out of a piece of patterned paper from the Like a Girl<\/a> collection, also by PhotoPlay.\u00a0 My chairs were begging for a human element, so I added some chic ladies from Tim Holtz’s Photobooth<\/a> strips.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> made a canvas about imagining new possibilities.<\/p>\n

On this canvas, I used my brand-new Distress Crayons<\/a>, as well as Tim Holtz three new Collage Medi<\/a>a. The focal point is a Blueprint stamp<\/a> and ephemera pieces were layered and collaged on the background. I also used both new and old idea-ology pieces, such as a Watch Cameo<\/a> and a Word Band<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Barbara\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0 took a leap of imagination and invented a character, Hugo, the cat!<\/p>\n

This week I couldn’t resist and I used a lot of new Tim Holtz’s stuff! My leap is a big leap in the imagination: I used \u00a0my new stamps set<\/a> \u00a0to invent a steampunk cat that I named Hugo ( like \u00a0Hugo Cabret). I created a tag<\/a> where my dapper<\/a> \u00a0Hugo \u00a0is the star, with his plumed hat and a themed background full of gears!<\/a><\/p>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0I have always admired the skill of quilling and have seen some beautiful pieces of art using this technique.<\/p>\n

I always wondered what quilled flowers would look like on a mixed media project and if the thin layers of paper would hold up to paints and sprays. I decided to take a leap and give it a try and was quite pleased with the outcome. A special tool, such as Spellbinders Quilling Tool<\/a>,\u00a0is needed for this technique. I used several Prima Junkyard Findings<\/a>\u00a0and \u00a0Idea-ology Timepieces<\/a> and \u00a0Sprocket Gears<\/a>\u00a0along with some paper flowers for the final touches and sprayed the piece with Mermaid Lagoon<\/a> and Fossilized Amber<\/a> Distress Inks.<\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a>\u00a0made a card for a friend who is taking a leap into a new career.<\/p>\n

This week I made a quick and easy card for a friend who is about to start a new chapter in her life. The background was made with a piece of paper from the Project Life Sweet Edition 6 x 6 pad<\/a>, and I added a heart stamped onto paper from the same pad with the Dina Wakley Collaged Hearts<\/a> set and finished it off with an inspiring sentiment from the Mama Elephant labeled messages<\/a> set.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0leapt at the opportunity to use her village dwelling dies for the very first time!<\/p>\n

\"EmmaTakeALeap\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I’ve been waiting for just the right moment to use the Village Dies from Tim Holtz and when I saw the theme of this challenge and saw the word ‘wedding’, I just knew this was the time to break out those beautiful dies and start creating my village. I combined the Village Dwelling die<\/a> with the Bell Tower die<\/a> to die cut white\u00a0woodgrain card stock<\/a> to create the base of my church before surrounding it with Tiny Tattered Florals<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Woodland Trees<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0adding the finished piece to a wooden base altered with Distress Paints.<\/p>\n

Kath<\/a>\u00a0made a Wedding Memory Book using 2 new techniques
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

I used a\u00a0Distress Crayon<\/a>\u00a0Resist technique and used the\u00a0Paper Mosaic Kit<\/a>\u00a0with fabric.<\/p>\n

Lols’s<\/a> Crazy Birds<\/a> are taking a leap and getting married!<\/p>\n

My nephew will soon be getting married to his beautiful fiancee and this is the card I made for them. I created a background by inking white card with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink<\/a>, I then used some White Embossing Paste<\/a>, a Falling Hearts Stencil<\/a> and a sprinkling of Prisma Glitter<\/a> to add to the romance. I \u00a0inked a little piece of acetate with Alcohol Inks <\/a>to make the stained glass windows in the Church<\/a>.\u00a0I colored the happy couple with Distress Inks<\/a>, don’t they look a handsome pair!<\/p>\n

Macarena<\/a>\u00a0leapt into a new technique.<\/p>\n

This canvas is going to encourage me to do anything I have doubts about. I made it quite mixed media because it’s my recent passion! The background is covered with light and coarse modeling paste to give it dimension and texture. I love to spill aquarel inks on it. The effect is amazing and every time diferent. It’s a lot of fun. The main element was framed with Postage Stamp Frame Die<\/a>\u00a0ans embossed with Embossing Folder<\/a>\u00a0and finally touched with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink<\/a>. Behind the frame there are pieces of Brick Wall Die<\/a>\u00a0and some pieces of gauze covered with Clear Embossing Ink<\/a>\u00a0and then with\u00a0Embossing Black<\/a>\u00a0powder. I have never done it before! Lastly I gave some touch of Out Loud Stamp<\/a>\u00a0randomly.<\/p>\n

I really tried heading into the unknown this week, but frogs kept leaping around in my imagination. Since the frogs were calling, I listened and pulled out my Tim Holtz Flip Frame<\/a>, measured it up and started playing. I found the perfect frog from Prima<\/a> and started out by painting it with Lucky Clover Distress Paint<\/a>. It’s corny, but I also just had to use Frogtape<\/a> with this project. \u00a0I stamped some circle images with Simon’s High Dive<\/a> ink. This is the first time I’ve tried Simon Says Stamp ink, and I love it!<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to create bookmarks and wall art with watercolors.<\/p>\n

This week, I wanted to challenge myself to create some home decor with watercolor painting and brush lettering. This wall art was painted with Sakura Koi Watercolors<\/a> and Pentel Aquash Brushes<\/a>\u00a0on watercolor paper<\/a>. I also created some bookmarks on heavy white cardstock<\/a>\u00a0for my planner<\/a>.\u00a0I really enjoy watercolor painting and brush lettering.<\/p>\n

Sandra<\/a> was inspired by a love story

\nI love romantic movies, and so I made this tag inspired by those kind of films. I like the more modern kind, but this\u00a0picture of the Ephemera pack<\/a> was just\u00a0perfect. I used it with the \u00a0Something Blue<\/a> paper pack. It’s so much fun photo tinting with the Watercolor Pencils<\/a> from Prima Marketing.<\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a>\u00a0took the leap into the unknown balancing between her fears and dreams…<\/p>\n

I worked on two Ranger #10 Manila Tag<\/a>\u00a0and adhered some scaps paper and my beloved Tim Holtz Idea-ology Postale tissue paper<\/a>\u00a0to decor the background and my little wire man! I colored the background using a mix of Finetec MICA Watercolor Pearl Paint<\/a>\u00a0and Twinkling H20 Basic Rainbow<\/a>\u00a0and a final touch with Colourarte Basic Primary Elements<\/a>. I also loved Tim Holtz Idea-ology Ring Fasteners<\/a> as touch on the umbrella!<\/p>\n
