This week we are challenging you to<\/p>\n

\u00a0USE SOME LUCKY STARS<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is St Patrick’s Day on the 17th of March and for this challenge we are hoping for some of the luck of the Irish and adding some lucky stars to our creations!<\/p>\n

Amber<\/a>\u00a0focused on the stars part of the challenge and made this space-themed tag.<\/p>\n

I created the galaxy background by blending\u00a0Faded Jeans<\/a>,\u00a0Seedless Preserves<\/a>, and\u00a0Black Soot<\/a>\u00a0distress inks on a #5 manila tag. Then I splattered a black spray ink and let it dry completely before adding\u00a0Brushed Pewter<\/a>, and\u00a0Picket Fence<\/a>\u00a0spray stains, also drying those in between. I then pulled out Altenew’s\u00a0To The Moon<\/a>\u00a0stamp set to create the moon and the sentiment. Then some crinkle ribbon and glitter tape finish it off.<\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> lucked out when she found this fabulous 3D star she could cover.<\/p>\n

Stars seem to me to be among the most hopeful creations that exist, so I wanted to pay homage with lots of happy colors and a hope-based sentiment.\u00a0 I even added a sprinkling of stars on top of my main star by using Neat and Tangled’s Seeing Stars die<\/a>, which I happily cut with my Sizzix Big Shot<\/a>.\u00a0 I also can’t get enough of the Tim Holtz Trellis die<\/a> and the Scribbles dies<\/a> by My Favorite Things, which I used to create my fun Celestial background layers.<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> made a bright starry card this week.<\/p>\n

I like to use stars on my projects, they carry such optimism and have an interesting shape. On this card, I stamped Dina Wakley’s star stamps<\/a> with many different colours Ranger Dye Ink<\/a>, to create a star background. The larger star was stamped on Wendy Vecchi’s Clearly For Art Modeling Film<\/a> and I also added some idea-ology Mirrored Stars<\/a>, and star Remnant Rubs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> loves the new Crazy Cats<\/a> and the new Distress Crayons<\/a>, she made of them the main stars of her canvas!<\/p>\n

This is my first attempt with Distress Crayons<\/a> and I already love them! “Crazy Cats<\/a>” \u00a0is \u00a0one of my favourite \u00a0set by Tim Holtz and I thought that together \u00a0can give a lots of creative chances! For the background I chose the new Sizzix Mosaic <\/a>and \u00a0 I used \u00a0it as a stencil with Texture paste<\/a> and a touch of Mica sprays<\/a>, \u00a0so my cat became a star!<\/p>\n

Cathie<\/a>\u00a0was dreaming of far away galaxies while she was creating her project.<\/p>\n

The first thing I thought when I heard “Lucky Stars” was a colorful galaxy with zooming stars. I knew Distress Inks<\/a> and Crayons<\/a> would be perfect for the pops of bright color I was looking for and the Dina Wakley Grungy Stars<\/a> and Textures Media<\/a> were just the stamp sets that came to mind.<\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a> was inspired by all the things she is lucky to have in her life while creating this journal page.<\/p>\n

This week, it was all about all of the new Dina Wakley paints<\/a>\u00a0and stencils<\/a> to create my art journal background. I added lots of layers of paint and stencils onto one of Dylusions journal insert sheets<\/a> in black. To finish off my page I added images from the Scribbly Fashion Figures<\/a>\u00a0and Grungy Stars<\/a> sets. The sentiment was made by mixing some Tim Holtz Big Chat<\/a> and Small Talk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0was inspired by one lucky star shining brightly in a night sky!<\/p>\n

When I started thinking about this challenge and was looking through my stash for ideas, this beautiful image from Tim Holtz’s Found Relatives<\/a> shone brightly and I instantly knew that she would be my lucky star on this layered burlap panel<\/a> which is full of texture. I sat the little girl on a die cut moon<\/a> and surrounded her with glittered stars<\/a> before using the Letterpress<\/a> blocks to spell out the word, “lucky”.<\/p>\n

Kath<\/a>\u00a0was thanking her lucky stars when she recently attended a Tim Holtz workshop in the UK<\/p>\n

I decided to make a keepsake momento for my craft room using an Idea-ology Display Hanger<\/a>, Textured Surfaces<\/a>, Textile Surfaces<\/a>, Letterpress<\/a>, Simon Says Stamp Stars Parade die<\/a>, Distress Crayons Set 2 <\/a>and Ranger Vintage Foil Transfer Sheets<\/a><\/p>\n

Lols<\/a>\u00a0loves Tim Holtz’s new Crazy Cats<\/a> and made a canvas for her craftroom wall.<\/p>\n

I have to admit that when I started this canvas I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, the only thing I did know was that I would pop at least one star on it somewhere, but I do think the star of the show is the cute Crazy Cat<\/a>! Being fairly new to Mixed Media I just painted and layered and splattered whatever I had and I am thrilled with the result! I used Gesso<\/a>, Distress Ink Pads<\/a> and Paints<\/a>, Tissue Wrap<\/a>, Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste<\/a>\u00a0and just had fun!<\/p>\n

Macarena <\/a>made\u00a0an altered wine wooden box made for the 8th Birthday of her School of Dance.<\/p>\n

First I covered all the box with\u00a0white gesso<\/a>\u00a0and dried it with the\u00a0heating tool<\/a>. \u00a0Than I put some\u00a0Bubble Gum<\/a>\u00a0paint randomly in the outside and covering whole walls of the inside. After that I made some patterns with\u00a0stencils<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0paste<\/a>. In some parts I put the coarse texture paste just to give a dimension and irregular background. After the paste was dry, I started to cover randomly the box with \u00a0fucsia and purple water paints mixing them with water and drying with the heat tool. Finally I cut out some\u00a0stars<\/a>\u00a0and put them in the front and both sides. The last step was to stamp out the\u00a0sentiment<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0embossed<\/a>\u00a0it with\u00a0white powder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I do, I love being Irish and celebrate it whenever I can. Can you hear my family groaning in the background? My lucky stars this week come from the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Star die.<\/a>\u00a0I used the die to make stencils for my pages. I played with every green mist and spray I could find, like Lindy’s Stamp Gang Bells of Ireland<\/a>, Prima Flowers Emerald,\u00a0<\/a>Tim Holtz Twisted Citron<\/a> and of course, his Lucky Clover <\/a>spray. I even got some stamping in, in-between all that spraying with my Paper Artsy Everything Art<\/a> stamp set.<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to create a mixed media tag with some beautiful glittered stars.<\/p>\n

For the challenge this week, I mixed various medias again to create the background of this #8\u00a0tag<\/a> with Koi\u00a0watercolors<\/a> and inks<\/a>. Some stars were die cut using Tim Holtz Die<\/a>,\u00a0covered with Clearsnap Gold ink<\/a>,\u00a0and adhered on the tag. I really love the quote on the Tim Holz Quote Band Finding<\/a> so I attached it on the tag using Tombow Mono Glue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nI have all Distress Ink colors from last year, but I haven’t used them all yet, so what better time than this challenge to break in the Lucky Clover<\/a> Ink Pad. I’ve made a first layer\u00a0with Cracked Pistachio<\/a> to color up the tag a bit and stamped with the Stars<\/a> stencil the Lucky\u00a0Clover<\/a> on top of that. I placed the\u00a0stencil back and\u00a0colored the stars with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearl Spray<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a>\u00a0used the Mosaic Stars<\/a>\u00a0to create an art journal cover for her art journal book<\/p>\n

I used Ranger Dylusions Paint Lemon Zest<\/a>\u00a0and Ranger Dylusions Paint Bubblegum Pink<\/a>\u00a0to create this bright cardboard background . I used the Simon Says Stamp Star Stencil Mosaic<\/a>\u00a0to add this big star statement and I used modeling paste through it to create a texture. Then added some stamps using Tim Holtz Cling Rubber Stamps Air Travel<\/a>\u00a0and some scribbles with Sharpie Water Based White Marker<\/a><\/p>\n
