STENCIL IT\u00a0<\/span><\/h1>\n

There are so many fabulous stencils available right now and there are so many techniques you can use with them. It is fun to ink, spray or use embossing paste, lots of options and the end result is always a little bit unpredictable. It is a fabulous way to create your own backgrounds, or the designs can be the focus of attention. Of course you can always create your own stencils, whatever you decide to do we will be looking forward to seeing what you create!<\/p>\n

Zoey<\/a>\u00a0loves to use stencils on ATC’s, creating little works of art to share with her family and friends<\/p>\n

For my project I cut\u00a0\u00a0Distress Watercolor Cardstock<\/a>\u00a0to an ATC size and covered with a mix of\u00a0Twisted Citron<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Cracked Pistachio<\/a>\u00a0Distress Paint.\u00a0I used a\u00a0Lattice Work<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0Dot Fade<\/a>\u00a0stencils and inked with\u00a0Stormy Sky<\/a>\u00a0Distress Paint. I stamped using a\u00a0Correspondence<\/a>\u00a0stamp set and decorated the front ATC with\u00a0Journaling Tickets Altered Vintage Paper<\/a>,\u00a0Photobooth Vintage Photos<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Small Talk<\/a>\u00a0stickers.<\/div>\n
The envelope for my ATC is made with a\u00a0Ranger Manila #8 Tag<\/a>\u00a0folded in 3 that I covered with\u00a0Dina Wakley White Gesso<\/a>\u00a0and then I used the same palette, stencils and stamps to match the ATC decor.<\/div>\n

Andrea<\/a> made a happy flag with her favorite stencils and leftover paper scraps from other projects.<\/p>\n

I sort of Frankensteined this flag together from some new supplies and scraps from a few old projects.\u00a0 I love using stencils on backgrounds and have always counted the Mini Paint Lids stencil<\/a> by The Crafter’s Workshop among my favorites.\u00a0 A new favorite is StencilGirl’s Mix and Match Scalloped Edges stencil<\/a>, which I traced, then fussy-cut out of paper and layered at the top of my flag.\u00a0 And who couldn’t adore that inspiring light bulb image from Concord & 9th’s Shine Brighter stamp set<\/a>?\u00a0 It brought the perfect bit of light to my flag!<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> made a winter mixed media canvas on a chilly day.<\/p>\n

It was a very cold and beautiful morning when I started making this canvas and I imagined standing at an old wooden fence looking out at a winter landscape. I love stencils since they are so versatile and you can do many different techniques with them. And they are easy to store! Here I used stencils by StencilGirl, for the background<\/a>,\u00a0for the fence <\/a>and houses<\/a>\u00a0and for the sentiment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> decided to alter a small notebook to take note her creative ideas!<\/p>\n

Sometimes I have an idea for my projects: \u00a0details, a particular way of binding, a technique … To remind these ideas, I decided to alter a small notebook \u00a0with Distress paints<\/a> and stencils<\/a>! A touch of metal<\/a> and a beautiful image from \u00a0“Found relavitives” by Tim Holtz<\/a> made my work \u00a0perfect for my creative notes!<\/p>\n

Cheiron<\/a> used stencils with texture paste to create the background of her canvas.<\/p>\n

I can’t get enough of these mini canvases. I love creating backgrounds with paint and there is no easier way to add texture to your artwork then using Ranger Texture paste<\/a> through a stencil. I used Tim Holtz’s Bubble<\/a> and Numbered<\/a> Layering Stencils to create the first layers on my canvas.<\/p>\n

Emma<\/a>\u00a0is thinking ahead to beautiful spring days, blue skies and pretty blossoms!<\/p>\n

I love using stencils to create textural backgrounds and for my vintage canvas panel, I coloured Texture Paste<\/a> with Spun Sugar Distress Paint<\/a> and applied it through the Tim Holtz\u00a0Blossom<\/a>\u00a0Layering Stencil to create a beautiful border. I applied even more texture through the Speckles<\/a>\u00a0Layering Stencil before building up my layers of ephemera and completing the panel with a\u00a0beautiful vintage photo<\/a>\u00a0and some Tiny Tattered Florals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My parents share the same birthday so I wanted to make them co-ordinating cards. I used the same Dot Fade Layering Stencil<\/a> and Mini Paint Lids Stencil<\/a> on both and chose images from a Birthday Blueprint Set<\/a>. It is my Mum’s 80th Birthday so I will be going back to the UK at the end of the month to share her special day!<\/p>\n

Maura<\/a>\u00a0is dreaming of pirates in the tropics.<\/p>\n

We have had weeks of gray days where I live, so color is my way to deal with it. I think you will notice that with the bright colors I chose to work with, from Dylusions Bubblegum Pink<\/a> to Vibrant Turqoise<\/a>. Nathalie Kahlbach’s N*Studio stamps and stencils work perfectly with my idea, especially the Koffee Klatsch<\/a> set. I have a number of art journals I work in, but I like the Ranger Dylusions journal<\/a> for acrylic paints. Now, can you really blame a girl for dreaming of the tropics in the midst of January?<\/p>\n

I am so looking forward to Valentine’s Day. This week, I decided to create a love themed mixed media tag. The texture on the background was created with Modeling Paste<\/a>, and the text was stenciled using Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Valentine<\/a>. I also adhered the Prima Flowers hearts resin<\/a> and Tim Holtz metal embellishments<\/a> for more interest.<\/p>\n

\nStencils are such a great tool to create texture, layers and lots of interest. You can use it with lots of different mediums. I used paint in form of\u00a0Pool Paint Dabber<\/a> with the Sunrise Sunset<\/a> stencil and Embossing Paste<\/a> with the Simon Says Stamp Diamond Circles<\/a> stencil. Don’t you just love that Big Hugs<\/a> die from Simon Says Stamp?<\/p>\n

Suzz<\/a> was thinking spring already with the days starting to stay light just a little bit longer.<\/p>\n

The days have been a little gloomy lately and I decided to pull out some bright happy colors (Ranger Distress Inks – Twisted Citron<\/a>, Abandoned Coral<\/a>) with coordinating Heidi Swapp Shine (Salmon<\/a>, Citron<\/a>) to create a spring card.\u00a0 I used two stencils as the inspiration for my card.\u00a0 The Tim Holtz Layering Stencil – Harlequin<\/a> and Wendy Vecchi – For Art Stencil<\/a>.<\/p>\n
