With our alphabet challenges we usually focus on just one letter – this week we\u2019re giving you three! X, Y, and\/or Z. I suppose you could also be inspired by the end (as this is the end of the alphabet), zoo animals, yellow, or yarn. What else? Well that\u2019s for you to decide and share with us this week!<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> decided to use sunny yellow color on her art journal page this week.<\/p>\n

I always love to create with bright colors. On this art journal page, I was inspired to spray Distress Spray Stain<\/a> and apply Distress Paint<\/a> Mustard Seed on the background to create the sunny yellow scheme. Some sentiments by Tim Holtz Stamps<\/a> were added to remind myself to be brave and own my dreams.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> thought it was time for another album.<\/p>\n

The end of the alphabet made me think about school and I’ve been planning to make an album to document my son’s years in pre-school. I needed space, but without the album becoming overwhelming to complete, and Graphic 45’s Mixed Media Album<\/a> was perfect since it is sized 8 x 8 and contains lots of pages and pockets. I altered the cover with stencils <\/a>by Stencil Girl and an alphabet stencil made from a Sizzix die<\/a>. The paints are by Dina Wakley<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle<\/a> is adding ZIPCODES to these easy to mail postcards.<\/p>\n

Who needs an envelope? These fun postcards look legit with the Correspondence Stamps by Tim Holtz<\/a>. Why wait for the real thing when these Postmarks by Inkadinkado <\/a>look just as good.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea’s<\/a> school days were plagued by solving for X, so she got revenge by cutting up some math flashcards.<\/p>\n

Teenagers’ lives are heavy on the drama, but in my teens, nothing caused more tears and angst and howling than algebra in particular. I remember several vivid breakdowns from junior high through high school whenever the math book came out. I got off on the wrong foot by not even getting subtraction right, so I found some vintage flashcards and went to town on showing them who was boss. I turned them into yarn holders using Penny Black’s Tabs and Toggles die set<\/a>, Dina Wakley paint<\/a>, and lots of great stamps like Paper Smooches’ Fruitastic set<\/a>.For more inspiration click on our design team’s blog links so you can see more photos (and full supply lists) for their projects. Suzz<\/a> decided to zip it up for the challenge this week.<\/p>\n

I love the idea of creating an opening with a zipper attached and that was the premise of my book art this week. I used some pretty Ranger Distress Stain Spray (Abandoned Coral,<\/a> Mustard Seed<\/a>) and the Tattered Florals<\/a> to add some elegance and warmth to my pages. The zipper opens the pages to reveal a secret message.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ashli<\/a> was inspired by left over letters this week!<\/p>\n

I think it happens to all of us, doesn’t it? The random X, Y’s and Z’s leftover on a letter sheet. Well, this week was the perfect excuse to use them! After painting over the mis-matched letters in white<\/a>, I added some lovely Amy Tangerine Embellishments<\/a>. Watercolors<\/a> are the perfect finishing touch!<\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> challenged herself to use the letter’s x,y and z to create a background for a journal page.<\/p>\n

When I started thinking about this challenge, the 1st thing that came to mind was “y for yellow” and I started to create a background using Mustard Seed<\/a> and Squeezed Lemonade<\/a> Distress Ink. But never one to make my own life easy, I challenged myself a step further and used Texture Paste<\/a> applied through the “xo’s” of the Valentine Layering Stencil<\/a> to incorporate the letter “x” and for the letter “z” I used the Zig Zag stencil<\/a>. To complete my journal page entitled Young Love, I added various pieces of idea-ology including the gorgeous Photo Booth vintage photo!<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

\n The month of May is all about birthday cards for me. Had lots of fun with the xyz theme for my brother’s 40th birthday using all the letters, but also with the color Yellow. The in pattern dotted stamped xyz in the background is from the Simon Says Stamp Dotted Alphabet<\/a>. Love the artsy funky vibe of those letters. The balloons I cut out with my Silhouette Cameo<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
