Abandoned Coral <\/a>is the second new distress color of 2015, and the inspiration for this challenge. Don\u2019t have this color of distress? That\u2019s ok! We are challenging you to use any coral paper, ink, paint, or other product. You could also be inspired by actual coral as I was this week. I know I could really use some fresh ideas for this color and I can\u2019t wait to see what everyone comes up with – let\u2019s not leave that coral hanging! Let\u2019s get it out and use it today.<\/p>\n

Suzz<\/a> loves the new Abandoned Coral <\/a>and is happy that the challenge allowed her to share her card.<\/p>\n

Coral is all the trend and my girls have coral nails, dresses and accessories. The abandoned coral is such a soft pretty color and I couldn’t wait to use a spray on a special wedding card. I started with a leftover piece of cardboard which a butterfly was cut out using the Sizzix Layered Butterfly.<\/a> I used that as my stencil and placed the beautiful Memory Box Lathenay stencil<\/a> and applied the Wendy Vecchi White Embossing paste<\/a> and created a soft focal point to spray with the new coral ink.<\/em><\/p>\n

Barbara<\/a> loves that coral is a wonderful mix of red, orange and pink!<\/p>\n

The new Distress color of February<\/a> made me think to the sea and summer holiday! I love the coral, starfish<\/a>, possibility to create texture that seems sand! So the choice was easy! With this color I created a little canvas with a beach cabin, occupied by one of the fantastic crazy Birds<\/a>, relaxed in the summer version with his fashion sunglasses!<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle<\/a> discovered a similar color ink that she’s been celebrating.<\/p>\n

I’m not Abandoning the Coral, but I am currently partying with a similar shade…Wendy Vecchi’s Tea Rose<\/a>. It’s archival and doesn’t smudge a bit. Perfect for creating a Party Set! With Crate Paper’s Confetti Papers<\/a> and the Winnie and Walter “The Party” Stamps<\/a>, I can create everything I need to get the party started. (Even a bow!)<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to have the beautiful color of Abandoned Coral Spray Stain on the tag and her art journal page.

I love the beautiful and vibrant color of new Abandoned Coral Distress Stain<\/a> and use it to create the background of this journal page. I also sprayed the tag with the same Distress Stain after the tag was stamped with Tim Holtz Rubber Stamp Simple Sayings<\/a>, and embossed with Clearsnap Clear Embossing Powder<\/a>, As a finishing touch, I randomly applied Distress Spray Stain Picket Fence<\/a> on the page.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> made a bookmark with plenty of pops of coral.<\/p>\n

When I was in high school, I got a job at a library. It has been a LONG time since high school, but I’m still at the same little library and adore being surrounded by books and words and writing. Since you can never have too many bookmarks, I decided to make one of my own using Dina Wakley’s Positive Women<\/a> stamp set, My Favorite Things’ Whimsical Wishes<\/a> stamp set and my trusty set of watercolors<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> made a springtime art journal page this week.<\/p>\n

Abandoned Coral <\/a>and Cracked Pistachio<\/a> look great together and on this art journal page I used both the paints<\/a> and the ink pads in those two colours. I had fun with a heat embossed resist technique, stamping<\/a> and watercolouring. The glittery butterflies were die cut with the new lovely Deco Sheets<\/a> by Tim Holtz. They add a fun sparkle to a project in an instant.<\/em><\/p>\n

I did, in fact use a number of colors including Abandoned Coral<\/a> on this tag but I really got to thinking about coral the stuff that lives in the ocean and got a bit salty with this project. (Arg?!) The Tim Holtz mariner stamps<\/a> did the trick to really help me set sail with coral this week.<\/p>\n

\n I love Tim Holtz’ new releases of Distress colors. Each month it’s so much to find the new color, and I adore Abandoned Coral<\/a>. I’m in love with the big butterfly of the Perspective<\/a> stamp set. And I wanted to make it pop so I stamped it with Versa Mark<\/a> and used Black Embossing Powder<\/a>. I made it white with White Linen Dylusions Spray<\/a> and a Water Brush.<\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> used Abandoned Coral as a vibrant pop of color against her black and white background.<\/p>\n

When planning this project, I thought it would be wonderful to use this beautiful colour against a backdrop of black and white. I used Abandoned Coral Distress Paint<\/a> mixed with Texture Paste<\/a> to add splashes of colour and texture to the background and also coloured my Tattered Florals die cut flower<\/a> with Distress Spray Stain<\/a> which created a vibrant focal point on my project. I added these to a painted striped background together with various pieces of idea-ology and a die cut postage frame<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
