I&#8217;m ready for Spring and love how the world explodes with color. Flowers are among my favorite things to look forward to, so I made a notebook with a floral theme. I used fabric with the Tim Holtz&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=56550\" target=\"_blank\">Tattered Florals<\/a> die and created some more abstract-looking blooms with the fabulous new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=319509\" target=\"_blank\">Scribbles dies<\/a> from My Favorite Things. And where would Spring be without all sorts of lovely shades of pink, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=55078\" target=\"_blank\">Spun Sugar<\/a>?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/michellezerull.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/pastels.html\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle<\/a> was inspired by a new ink pad.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2572\" alt=\"pastel_michelle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_michelle.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_michelle.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_michelle-243x300.jpg 243w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I normally don&#8217;t use pastel green, but the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=77906\" target=\"_blank\">Viridian Green<\/a> ink pad caught my eye. I&#8217;m not sure what prompted me to use it with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=101038\" target=\"_blank\">Envelope Liner Background <\/a>stamp, but I did it anyway. This is the first time that I&#8217;ve ever made an envelope before I made the card. It was easy with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=112260\" target=\"_blank\">We R Memory Keepers Envelope b\\Punch Board<\/a>. Dina Wakley&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316370\" target=\"_blank\">Scribbly Flowers<\/a> made fun embellishments with the richly colored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316370\" target=\"_blank\">Zig Kuretake<\/a> paints.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/suzzstampingspot.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/pretty-pastels.html\">Suzz<\/a> thought of shabby chic and lavender for her pastel inspired card.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2573\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_suzz.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_suzz.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_suzz-244x300.jpg 244w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I decided it had been awhile since I had created a shabby chic card. A perfect opportunity to use pastels to create a card for my mother in law for mother&#8217;s day. I created my own background using a damask from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133155\">Stampers Anonymous Distress Damask.<\/a> My MIL loves lavenders which inspired me to use the Ranger Archival inks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=77848\">Blue Violet<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=123834\">Watering Can<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cupcakescreations.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/hello-friend.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mona<\/a> was inspired to create a shabby \/ vintage style greeting card.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2571\" alt=\"Pastel_Emma\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/Pastel_Emma.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"697\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/Pastel_Emma.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/Pastel_Emma-258x300.jpg 258w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>One can never have too many greeting cards on hand so I thought this challenge was a great time to pull out the beautiful pastel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71532\" target=\"_blank\">Victorian Velvet<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316237\" target=\"_blank\"> Distress Ink<\/a> pad and put it do good use. The background of the card was stamped with the text image from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71532\" target=\"_blank\">Papillon<\/a>, heat embossed, then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71532\" target=\"_blank\">Victorian Velvet<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316189\" target=\"_blank\">Iced Spruce<\/a> Distress Inks were randomly applied. For the focal point, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133211\" target=\"_blank\">Mini Cabinet card<\/a> was adhered in place and embellished with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133740\" target=\"_blank\">crackled<\/a> die cut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71287\" target=\"_blank\">Mini Butterfly<\/a>. For the sentiment, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=112193\" target=\"_blank\">Remnant Rub<\/a> was applied.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stickydots.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/easter-surprise-pastels-simon-says.html\" target=\"_blank\">Emma<\/a> created a pretty shabby chic gift box full of Easter treats.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2575\" alt=\"paste_emma\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/paste_emma.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"615\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/paste_emma.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/paste_emma-292x300.jpg 292w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/paste_emma-52x52.jpg 52w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I adore creating my own seasonal decorations and I had so much fun making this little gift box and filling it with chocolate eggs in readiness for Easter. I began by making my own matchbox from kraft card which I then covered with card stock painted in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133492\" target=\"_blank\">Tumbled Glass<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=111518\" target=\"_blank\">Picket Fence Distress Paint <\/a>which makes the most beautiful shade of pastel blue. I added <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=304275\" target=\"_blank\">texture paste<\/a> through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=315573\" target=\"_blank\">Lace Layering Stencil<\/a> before decorating my box with handmade paper flowers created from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=305047\" target=\"_blank\">Jumbo Tattered Pinecone die<\/a> and an altered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=315924\" target=\"_blank\">Trophy Cup<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/meihsia.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/mixed-media-canvas-with-pastel-colors.html\" target=\"_blank\">Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to use the soft color scheme on her mixed media canvas. <img alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8569\/16666219461_7e8a9c32c7_z.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I always love soft and feminine colors on my projects. After creating textures on the background with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=87051\" target=\"_blank\">Liquitex Modeling Paste<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=112278\" target=\"_blank\">Prima Flowers Raindrop Stencil<\/a>, I colored the canvas with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=313002\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Spray Stain<\/a> and distressed it with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=111504\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Paint<\/a>. Some beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=306672\" target=\"_blank\">Prima Flowers<\/a> were attached using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=307308\" target=\"_blank\">Prima Flowers Heavy Gesso<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madebysannie.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/tea-time-boxes.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra<\/a> is in love with the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316066\" target=\"_blank\">Cracked Pistachio<\/a> color.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.smouwen.nl\/blog\/include\/images\/blog_images\/%23SSSDT\/2015\/IMG_4289.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316066\" target=\"_blank\">Cracked Pistachio<\/a> looks like a green minty pastel color, so I went with this color for my tea boxes. I made them from scratch with foam board. I cut all the pieces out with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=34233\" target=\"_blank\">Craft Knife<\/a> and gave them 2 coats of paint. The doily is made with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=136096\" target=\"_blank\">Ring Doily<\/a> stencil and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316066\" target=\"_blank\">Cracked Pistachio<\/a> colored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-51357\/Wendy-Vecchi-WHITE-EMBOSSING\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Embossing Paste<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/purplemailbox.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/pastels-in-bloom.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ashli<\/a> was inspired by spring for her card this week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2570\" alt=\"pastel_ashli\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_ashli.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_ashli.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_ashli-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_ashli-300x297.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/pastel_ashli-52x52.jpg 52w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>My garden is in full bloom and I just can&#8217;t get enough of the pretty colors and textures. That inspired my card this week! Using some lovely paper bits from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=312620\" target=\"_blank\">Amy Tangerine Stitched Paper Pad<\/a>, along with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=307683\" target=\"_blank\">some black alpha letters<\/a>, I created this card of pastel leaves. Some sprinkles of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=106776\" target=\"_blank\">Color Shine<\/a> and this card is ready to go!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/layersofink.blogspot.com\/2015\/03\/pastel-tutorial.html\" target=\"_blank\">Anna-Karin<\/a> made a layout for the new little family member.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/images-blogger-opensocial.googleusercontent.com\/gadgets\/proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-VZt5-5PVpR4%2FVQsxWERP3hI%2FAAAAAAAATVM%2FIn3SfwwkD64%2Fs1600%2FAnd%252Bso%252Bthe%252Badventure%252Bbegins%252B-%252BLayers%252Bof%252Bink.jpg&amp;container=blogger&amp;gadget=a&amp;rewriteMime=image%2F*\" width=\"600\" height=\"601\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I wanted to make a first layout welcoming our baby boy into the world, and pastels works great for baby themed projects. For the background, I used<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=307847\" target=\"_blank\"> Pearlescent Pan Pastels<\/a> together with a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=315477\" target=\"_blank\">background stamp<\/a> by Tim Holtz. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=316485\" target=\"_blank\">butterflies <\/a>were die cut from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=304735\" target=\"_blank\">vellum<\/a> and heat embossed. I also love the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=314466\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Says Stamp Sketch Heart die<\/a>, and will certainly be using it a lot.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I (<a href=\"http:\/\/mayflaum.com\/2015\/03\/29\/happy-easter-card-technique\/\" target=\"_blank\">May<\/a>) have been playing a lot with watercolors.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2574\" alt=\"115 copy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/115-copy.jpg\" width=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/115-copy.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/115-copy-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/03\/115-copy-600x393.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With my favorite <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=301328\" target=\"_blank\">watercolor<\/a> set and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=318373\" target=\"_blank\">floral stencil <\/a>I sat and colored each and every piece of the design. What I found was, I then had too bold of an image and this is where it gets really fun &#8211; I sprayed with water and &#8220;stamped&#8221; the image onto more pieces of cardstock!
