Many design team members requested an embossing challenge, and since it\u2019s STAMPtember I think it is the perfect time! From dry embossed paper to creating a resist effect with clear embossing powder, extra fine embossing powder to melted UTEE in a pot, there\u2019s a lot of textured fun to be had this week.<\/p>\n

Sandra Mouwen<\/a> did some embossing in her art journal with embossing paste<\/p>\n

I tried something different in my art journal today. I wanted to leave a lot of white in the background and I did some journaling! I never did that before and I love it! I’m planning on doing that more often for sure. I also wrote my inner thoughts down in the background and covered it with Gesso<\/a>. I made some layers with the Chunky Chevron<\/a>, Letter Jumble<\/a> and the Paint Lids<\/a> Templates. I love making my own color Embossing Paste<\/a>. This time I used some Citrus Paint Dabber<\/a> and the Sunrise Sunset Template<\/a> to create some embossing.<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle <\/a>likes emboss with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.<\/p>\n

I don’t emboss often, but when I do, I love to use the Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel<\/a>, or UTEE. It can be used to create all types of embellishments. Even cool, vintage-looking ones! Here I created a faux tile with Artistic Outpost stamps<\/a>. With some fun Atlantic<\/a> Papers and a vintage book page, this distressed tile became a unique card.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to make a layout with some fun embossed circles.<\/p>\n

I love to make layouts for children since there are always many fun elements can be added on. I applied some Crackle Paint<\/a> and Modeling Paste<\/a> on this 12″ X 12″ canvas to make the beautiful texture. Natalie’s photo was decorated with Prima Flowers<\/a> and embellishments. Those embossed circles were made with Top Boss Embossing Ink Pad<\/a>, Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Stamps<\/a> and Zing! Embossing Powder<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Suzz<\/a> loves embossing the background of her cards to add a touch of texture and interest.<\/p>\n

I started with a brand new embossing folder ProvoCraft Poppy <\/a> that comes with two pieces. The main embossing folder is a beautiful floral patterna nd the coordinating strip provides an elegant border. I wanted to use these to create an elegant wedding card. The beautiful sentiment is from the Simon Says Exclusive Beautiful Words<\/a>. The Hero Arts flower<\/a> is stamped on vellum to continue with the soft and elegant feel.

Tracy<\/a> decided to get a head start on her seasonal cards this week.<\/p>\n

I stumbled across the Brush Poinsettias Texture Fade<\/a> whilst thinking about what to create this week and that as they say is how my creative journey began. The Tattered Poinsettia<\/a> die was perfect to echo the embossed poinsettia and Wendy Vecchi’s Art Of Making It Merry <\/a>background stamp was perfect for adding a touch of stamping. Fired Brick<\/a> Distress ink added to that seasonal feel. One down 50 to go!<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin <\/a>loves both dry and heat embossing and used both on this project.<\/p>\n

\nI made two different cards with a fun technique combining dry embossing, heat embossing and stamping<\/a>. This is a great way of making an embossing folder the focal point and to create depth and detail at the same time. I love to cycle and this folder <\/a>was calling out to me. The bike was embossed with black glitter<\/a>, platinum <\/a>and teal <\/a>embossing powders. A little bird <\/a>embossed with Stampendous Aged Silver Embossing Enamel <\/a>rides along on the basket.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> was inspired to create an embossed heart embellishment and heat emboss on her canvas.<\/p>\n

To begin, I painted gesso on a burlap canvas, layered with various patterned papers and tissue tape, added color using Color Shine sprays. For the focal point, I made a heart shaped embellishment using Ultra Thick Enamel<\/a>, Heat It Ink<\/a>, the Melting Pot<\/a> and the Scalloped Lace tread<\/a>. To highlight the beautifully embossed lace design on the heart, I lightly applied Gold acrylic paint<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dan<\/a> combined his love of stars and Fired Brick distress ink in his striking card.<\/p>\n

After saying last week that Fired Brick<\/a> is my favourite distress colour I decided to go all-out with it this week in a bold monochrome design. I love stars so the Cuttlebug star embossing folder<\/a> was my starting point here and the subway texture fade<\/a> added a little more to the embossing quotient too. The rays came from Tim’s Psychedelic Grunge<\/a> stamp set.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a>, a bracelet connoisseur, decided to bring embossing wrist-ward.<\/p>\n

I get distracted by several things in this life: the smell of BBQ, fantastic red purses, Tillamook Mint Chocolate chip ice cream and of course, shiny things. I love to have a little shine and a tad of pizazz, especially in my accessories. One way to add some shine and dimension to jewelry is by using metallic silver embossing powder<\/a>, Tim Holtz embossing ink<\/a> and a heat embossing tool<\/a> on beads and charms. Using these products, I gave my Tim Holtz number plaquette<\/a> and my flower a little more bling.<\/em><\/p>\n

I (May<\/a>) began my card with an embossed background.<\/p>\n

What I love about embossing is that there are so many ways to utilize it from making a stamped image pop to adding that perfect finishing touch of texture. For this week’s challenge, I decided to start by heat embossing<\/a> a favorite background stamp <\/a>onto white cardstock. From there I got inky, added more texture with a stencil<\/a>, and had a blast creating this card.<\/p>\n

This week we’ve got double the tutorial fun! First Ashli<\/a> will share a great tutorial about blending embossing powders.<\/p>\n
