From gold to pink, white to red it is Valentine\u2019s week and chocolates to heart shapes love sure is in the air! This week we challenge you not necessarily to be inspired by the spirit of the holiday, but rather the traditional colors associated with it. Are you a red or pink person? While my personal challenge is to pick one or the other and run with that color, you\u2019re welcome to use both together, other Valentine\u2019s type colors, or even your favorite color palette that incorporates one or both of these colors!<\/p>\n

This challenge was really hard for Barbara<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pink is certainly not my favorite color, but work to the outside of your comfort zone is always helpful! I prepared a tag <\/a>using vintage images Idea-ology, Found relatives portraits<\/a>, combining them with romantic and grunge elements. In this romantic atmosphere was essential to use hearts and arrows<\/a>. Hearts\u00a0 as a stencil in my background and arrows as embellishments to complete my project. I hope I’ve struck your hearts.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> likes to combine pink and red and made an art journal page this week.<\/p>\n

\n Every time I combine pink and red in a project I think that I should do so more often since they look great together. On this journal page, I decided to use a large black and white photo, in combination with some great messages. The stamps <\/a>are by Dina Wakley, and so are the paints <\/a>and stencils<\/a>. I also added some rub-ons<\/a> and tissue tape <\/a>by Tim Holtz.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> used red and pink along with a yellow color scheme to create an art journal page.<\/p>\n

I decided to combine yellow with traditional Valentine colors on my art journal page this week. The background was sprayed with Dylusions Pure Sunshine Ink Spray<\/a> and stenciled with Tim Holtz Layering stencil<\/a>. I colored the Tim Holtz Ornate Plates<\/a> and Tim Holtz Mini Die Cut Hearts<\/a> with Distress Paint<\/a>. I really love this warm color scheme for Valentine’s day project.<\/em><\/p>\n

Suzz<\/a> is in full Valentine’s mode creating cards for family and friends.<\/p>\n

I have been whipping up a few more Valentine’s cards to send to family. This card started with Ranger Shell pink acrylic paint<\/a> dry bushed onto Maya Road Kraft Parcel Tag<\/a>. I loved the soft effect and decided to pop a background using Ranger Archival Ink – Vermillion<\/a> ink and the the background valentine’s words. I love pulling together some bits and pieces of lace and trim to soften the card. This one is going off to celebrate a Valentine’s birthday.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> made a quick and quirky valentine with lovely pink and red layers.<\/p>\n

It’s always a challenge for me to stick to a certain color palette since I’m all over the place with colors, but I adore the focus on pink and red for this romantic time of year. Speaking of being in love, I am quite enamored with some of the new products that have hit the shelves, like the Sizzix 3X4 card thinlit die set<\/a> and the Go With It<\/a> stamp set from My Favorite Things, both of which I used on my valentine card.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n I really like the color combo, and decided to make a sort of a mixed media looking tag to go all out. I applied a thin layer of Gesso<\/a> with the Palette Knife<\/a> and used the Simon Says Stamp Swirls and Dots<\/a> stencil with a a touch of Neon Pink<\/a> and Ruby<\/a> paint, and went from there.<\/em><\/p>\n

Some lovely die cuts served as Ashli’s<\/a> inspiration this week…<\/p>\n

I just love all the pretty tones of pink mixed with gold in the Maggie Holme’s Open Book Flower pack<\/a>. So, I had to put those to use on a page this week! Layered up and stitched down, they became the perfect place for my title. I used a chipboard camera<\/a> from the same collection to balance out the page and layered everything over a piece of vellum by Cosmo Cricket<\/a>. I just love the pinks and golds contrasted by the black and white!<\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> couldn’t help but be inspired by the fact that love is in the air this week!<\/p>\n

I love red and pink as a colour combination and for this week’s project and with love in the air, I decided to make an Artist Trading Block using these colours of Distress Paints<\/a> and combining it with a splash of gold to create my little box full of love. To complete the ATB, I added some glittered Woodland Trees<\/a>, which I had coloured with Spun Sugar Distress Spray Stain<\/a>, a vintage Ephemera piece<\/a> and as a finishing touch, I used the gorgeous “Love” stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Locking Hearts<\/a> set.<\/em><\/p>\n

Red or Pink? Big or Little? Michelle<\/a> loves red AND pink, so she used a little of both for some cards with big love.<\/p>\n

Mini Valentines are small in size, but hold a large amount of love. The exclusive stamp set from Simon Says Stamp Card Kit of the Month<\/a> created a big embossed background on the Love Notes Paper Pad from We R Memory Keepers.<\/a> Heidi Swapp Clear Pop Hearts<\/a> might be small in size, but make a big impact. Little or big, I love them all.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> was inspired to alter a piece of home decor this week.<\/p>\n

I LOVE to create with a pink and gold color palette and this week’s challenge was perfect for this combination! I altered a piece of home decor with a generous application of crackled texture paint<\/a>. Once the paint had works its magic, I randomly applied Spun Sugar<\/a> and Picked Raspberry<\/a> Distress Paints and Metallic Gold<\/a> acrylic paint. I embellished with a beautiful Spun Sugar<\/a> Tattered Floral Flower<\/a> along with Metallic Gold<\/a> tipped Prima Lace Heart Resin<\/a> pieces.<\/em><\/p>\n

I (May<\/a>) have one tough heart to craft this week!<\/p>\n

With a favorite texture fade<\/a> + some alcohol ink<\/a> I was ready to get mixing with red and pink this week. This is a color combo I avoid so it was fun finding ways I could like it! Turns out, adding in brown and “grunging up” a bit was just the way to do it.<\/p>\n
