From simple paper designs to mixed media masterpieces, stamped ornaments to something you create to be ornamental – this week we are inspired by ornaments. They can sparkle, shine, be big or small – how will you be inspired this week?<\/p>\n

Sandra Mouwen<\/a> put her ornamental frame stamp to use for this card

\nI hardly use this Ornamental Frame<\/a> stamp, but this challenge is perfect for it. I began with a blanc sheet of Neenah Solar White<\/a> cardstock and stamped the frames in a pattern. Masked the inside of the frames with Masking Tape<\/a> and inked the background with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink<\/a>. Stamped. Removed the masking tape and stamped with the Silhouettes<\/a> inside them. On top of the center frame I applied a coat of Rock Candy Crackle Paint.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> made a start of creating her Christmas decorations for 2014.<\/p>\n

I bought the Tim Holtz Luminary die<\/a> this time last year but just never found the time to actually use it but today was the day to break open the die and the perfect opportunity to make one of my first Christmas decorations for this year and I had so much fun painting the luminary with Distress Paints<\/a> to achieve the look of brushed, aged metal before decorating it with hand dyed crinkle ribbon and die cut tattered pinecones<\/a> and festive greenery<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Suzz<\/a> was thinking tags that could be used on a present and turned into an ornament.

\n Around the holidays I get the loveliest tags from my on-line crafting pals and I love hanging them on the Christmas tree. That had me thinking of what type of tags or die cuts could I create a tag to use on a present which could than be turned into an ornament? The Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Skates<\/a> are the perfect size for a set of tags. I added a soft old fashioned look with the lovely floral pattern from the Darkroom Door Floral Garden<\/a> using Ranger Archival -Cornflower ink.<\/a> Now I have the perfect accessory to a gift and all I have to do is the shopping.<\/em><\/p>\n

I (May<\/a>) combined many of my favorite holiday elements on this card.<\/p>\n

This challenge reminded me that I have an ornament stamp <\/a>that I rarely use. I decided to use this challenge as an opportunity to use two other stamps I haven’t used much- a banner<\/a> and branch<\/a> stamps. I love how a few stamps and some distress ink lets me create unique cards that can be duplicated (or just closely remade) with minimal embellishments!<\/p>\n

Ashli<\/a> was inspired to create a non-traditional holiday ornament!<\/p>\n

I was inspired to play with layers of paper to create a three dimensional ornament with lots of movement. Using my Tim Holtz Layered Butterfly die cut and embossing set<\/a>, I created my butterflies. I then added some Gold Ink<\/a>, Glitter<\/a>, and plenty of Bling<\/a>! I just love the way this ornament takes flight!<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> was inspired to create a timeless pocket watch holiday ornament.<\/p>\n

As I was looking through my stash of dies, thinking which would make a great ornament, the pocket watch frame die<\/a> spoke to me! It makes a great base to create a holiday ornament with. I set out to make a winter wonderland scene so I framed a tree from Christmas blueprint<\/a> and filled the sky with grunge flakes<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin <\/a>loves snowflakes and to make holiday ornaments.<\/p>\n

I thought the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Layered Snowflake <\/a>and Stacked Snowflakes <\/a>dies would make great ornaments, especially together with lots of frosty Rock Candy Glitter<\/a>. After dry embossing the snowflakes, they were painted with Distress Paint <\/a>and completely covered with Rock Candy. These would look wonderful in a tree or hanging in a window.<\/em><\/p>\n

Christmas is Barbara’s <\/a>favorite time of year!<\/p>\n

I love to create and buy every year new decorations for my tree, and of course make cards for friends! I got inspired by the new Tim Holtz stencils<\/a> for the background and for the wreath. As a center I used the new Blueprint <\/a>colored with Distress and embellished with gold leaf! A sparkling star at the top to look like my pine cone at a Christmas tree. I know that this challenge will put each of you in the Christmas spirit!<\/em><\/p>\n

Each year, Michelle<\/a> makes gift tags that double as ornaments.<\/p>\n

It’s so much fun to make personalized gift tags! At our house, the tags are often saved and hung on the tree. The luggage tag die <\/a>made hanging photos easy. The fun enamel shapes from My Mind’s Eye <\/a>makes all of the photos festive for the holidays.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> loves the simple look of paper ornaments.

Simon Says Stamp has some really amazing exclusive products for the holidays. I love the elegance and intricacy of their snowflake dies in particular. On this project, I used the Eliza<\/a> snowflake die, the Maryanne<\/a> snowflake die and the Holiday Frames<\/a> die.<\/em><\/p>\n
