It wouldn\u2019t be STAMPtember without techniques – so show us what you\u2019ve got!<\/p>\n

How about a shimmery technique? Suzz<\/a> used a shimmery glittery technique this week.<\/p>\n

I have to say I think I was looking at glittery shimmery dresses on Pinterest which inspired my technique and project. When I am looking for inspiration I look for effects on clothes that I can emulate on my art. My art this week is inspired by the new beautiful Stampendous Lux<\/a> which has a mix of mica flakes, glitter and other bits all in silver. I wanted to showcase that and create a selection of birthday cards using the new Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Birthday Die Set<\/a>. I was trying to store up some glamorous girl birthday cards for my daughters to use.<\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> loved using the resist technique to create a pocket FULL of love.<\/p>\n

Since I first started stamping, the resist technique has always been one of my favourites and the Hero Arts Looped Flower<\/a> and Distress Paints<\/a> work so well to bring this technique to life and create a background for my slider tag project. The stamped background was added to my pocket, which is covered with Tattered Florals<\/a> blooms. For the element of surprise I added a tag inside the pocket, stamped with a wonderful Tim Holtz quote from the Random Quotes stamp set.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Ashli<\/a> put one of her favorite techniques to use on one of her favorite crafts this week…<\/p>\n

I love using white embossing powder<\/a> as a resist. And, for this week, I just had to put my brand new Mini Blueprint Stamp Set<\/a> to use in this way! Some watercolors<\/a> show off the lovely stamped images just perfectly. Layered up with pockets of Sequins<\/a> and plenty of scraps, we have one of my favorite things to make… Prize Ribbons!<\/em><\/p>\n

\n Sure love to play around and try new things. So why not expirement a bit. I grabbed my Gelli Plate<\/a> for this, and started to apply some Washi Tape<\/a> for texture. It was a bit bright after the first layer, so I toned it down with a whole white layer. That didn’t turn out the way I wanted it, and with the Peacock Doily<\/a> stencil and a baby wipe I began to remove the White Paint<\/a> layer and the bright colors from the first one appeared! Love expirementing and discovering new techniques along the way!<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> loves to create watercolor effect with Distress Inks and wet brush pen.<\/p>\n

\nI’ve always loved to create watercolor effect with different inks and medias on my mixed media projects. This week, I decided to make the watercolored background on my art journal page using Simon Says Stamp New Stamps<\/a>, Tim Holtz Distress Inks<\/a> and Pentel Aquash Brush<\/a>. The texture on the background was created with Modeling Paste<\/a> and Tim Holtz Layering Stencil<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle<\/a> used a very basic stamping technique to enhance treats from the kitchen.<\/p>\n

Our non-stamping friends consider Masking to be an impressive and delightful technique. With Holidays and bake sales fast approaching, a simple set of personalized tags created with the Avery Elle die <\/a>is and the Hero Arts My Recipe <\/a>stamps, is a treat in itself.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> decided to try her hand at water stamping this week.<\/p>\n

While browsing Pinterest (what do you mean it’s three hours later?) I found a link to a most excellent tutorial by M. Carmen Sanchez (aka Cuchy) on how to water stamp. All I can say is that I’m a huge fan of this technique (sort of like backwards stamping) and was amazed at what could be done with a handful of Distress Inks, water and some stamps such as Simon Says Stamp’s Scribble Flowers<\/a>, Prima’s Doily #1<\/a> and Paper Artsy’s Word 5<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> was inspired to create a tag featuring the heat embossed resist technique.<\/p>\n

I love the contrast effect that may be achieved by heat embossing stamped images using white<\/a> embossing powder. With the Autumn season right around the corner, I opted to create a fall themed tag featuring Leaves<\/a>. The background was created using a variety of Distress Inks<\/a> and the sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamps Thanks<\/a> set.<\/em><\/p>\n

I (May<\/a>) went with a trio of favorite techniques.<\/p>\n

For my tag I used a favorite new STAMPtember Simon stamp and stencil<\/a>, as well as my watercolor set<\/a> and other favorites. I have so much fun playing with color and layering up details for this project. I love how it turned out and I always love when a “clean the stencil” base tag turns out better than I hoped!<\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> will be back on Wednesday with a tutorial on how to stamp on black cardstock, with some glitter and shine.<\/p>\n
