I ended up making a fun <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=135052&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Bow<\/a> with my little experiment and surrounding it with lots of other little bows. This family of bows inspired me to borrow inspiration from last week&#8217;s challenge and scrapbook about my family. A little <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=301231&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Watercolor<\/a> and some layering of the remaining crackle work finished off this fun page!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Handcrafted embossed metal flowers were the main focus of <a href=\"http:\/\/stickydots.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/all-scratched-up-simon-says-stamp.html\" target=\"_blank\">Emma&#8217;s<\/a> tag.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1817\" alt=\"scratch_emma\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_emma.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"839\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_emma.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_emma-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I love creating handcrafted flowers for my projects and these flowers, made using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=58701&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">grungepaper <\/a>and covered with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=73696&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">metal foil tape<\/a> are something a bit different but perfect for this week&#8217;s challenge. Each die cut bloom is embossed with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=111978&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Blueprint and Gears Texture Fade<\/a> and inked with alcohol ink before I used the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=35449&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz Sanding Tool<\/a> over the surface to scratch away some of the ink on the raised areas. I then added them to my tag as the main focal point for my project this week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Grungy is one of <a href=\"http:\/\/suzzstampingspot.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/tiny-grungy-tags.html\">Suzz&#8217;s<\/a> favorite words so when she saw the challenge she knew she would be distressing the edges.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1820\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_suzz.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_suzz.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_suzz-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I was thinking of scratching up the surface of a piece of ephemera. But when I went into the drawer to pull out an old image I spied these sweet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=120848&amp;c=0\">7 Gypsies mini-tags<\/a> and that was all the distraction I needed. I pulled out all kinds of images to create mini vignettes. I added a lovely sponge of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=33705&amp;c=0\">Ranger Distress Ink Walnut Stain <\/a>around the edges to give it the lovely grungy touch.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madebysannie.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/sweet-found-relative-girl-tag.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra Mouwen<\/a> made this tag for the sweet found relative girl.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.smouwen.nl\/blog\/include\/images\/blog_images\/%23SSSDT\/2014\/IMG_4028.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"1031\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I love those <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64346\/th93121-found-relative-relatives\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Found Relatives<\/a>. It makes me wonder who those people were. This cute girl needed to be on a tag that complemented her. I wanted to use some lighter colors I normally don&#8217;t choose for the background. Like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-21313\/2010-Tim-Holtz-Ranger\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Victorian Velvet<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-21306\/2010-Tim-Holtz-Ranger\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Wild Honey<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-9130\/tim-holtz-distress-ink\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Spun Sugar<\/a> Distress Ink. But before I blended those colors, I first did the paint resist technique with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-52350\/TDD36272-ANTIQUE-LINEN-CREAM\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Antique Linen Distress Paint<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-55017\/CHECKER-Sunrise-Sunset-960179\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Sunset Sunrise Stencil<\/a>. The edges of the tag are all scratched up with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-9829\/Distress-distressing-distressor-tim\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Paper Distresser<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/michellezerull.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/sunshine-scratches.html\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle<\/a> did some &#8220;Pocket Scrapbooking&#8221; with scratched vintage photos.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1818\" alt=\"scratch_michelle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_michelle.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_michelle.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_michelle-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>My <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=127382&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Snap Binder <\/a>was the perfect size for &#8220;Pocket Scrapbooking&#8221; these mini vintage photos. Instead of trying to hide the scratches, I emphasized them with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=298107&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Paper Artsy Stamps<\/a> by Ellen Vargo. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=302123&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">My Mind&#8217;s Eye Nob Hill Die Cuts<\/a> have the prettiest shade of green to compliment the sunny Summer theme.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/meihsia.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/art-journal-note-to-self.html\" target=\"_blank\">Meihsia<\/a> was inspired to create an art journal page with scratched looking edges.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3910\/14498666812_84255ef90c_o.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I created an art journal page to remind myself to follow my heart and be daring. On this page, I colored the background with ColorBox Smooch Spritz and distressed the edges with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133909&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">ColorBox Ink Pads<\/a>. I think I have made very few without using it, I love the grunge style. This time I did it with my Artist Trading Block, sewing theme, in which I have included many elements and I created a small model with my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=80901&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">mini dress form<\/a>. Its accessories are all signed Tim Holtz: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=35460&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">the belt<\/a>, the flower and even the dress, sewn with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=95898&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">crinkle ribbon<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/snappingmonsters.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/tutorials-washi-tape-roses.html\" target=\"_blank\">Andrea<\/a> got all scratched up while doing some gardening this weekend, so she made some lovely thorn-free Washi tape roses.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1799\" alt=\"family_andrea\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/family_andrea.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/family_andrea.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/family_andrea-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>A gardener I am not, though I have great admiration for those green thumb geniuses out there who make beautiful things bloom. I always feel like I&#8217;m going to battle when I head into the garden, but at least I can make some paper flowers bloom! I made some Washi tape roses (no scratch risk here) with the help of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=63106&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Sizzix flower die<\/a> and scads of Washi tape, like this great set from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=135626&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">My Mind&#8217;s Eye<\/a>. The roses seemed to be the perfect accompaniment for my tag which features a Tim Holtz &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=116170&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Be Brave<\/a>&#8221; sentiment stamp.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cupcakescreations.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/discover-beauty.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mona<\/a> was inspired to create a grungy canvas with scratched edge butterflies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1819\" alt=\"scratch_mona\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_mona.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_mona.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/08\/scratch_mona-284x300.jpg 284w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Striving to create a grungy canvas, I reached for a variety of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=55106\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Ink Refills<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/search.aspx?Keywords=tarnished+brass+distress+stain\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Stain<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=33703\" target=\"_blank\">Distress ink<\/a> to add color to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=112254\" target=\"_blank\">burlap panel<\/a> filled with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=115892\" target=\"_blank\">vintage trinkets<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=56524\" target=\"_blank\">die cut <\/a> embellishments. Wanting to add more texture to the canvas, I scratched up the edges of the die cut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=51385\" target=\"_blank\">crackle painted<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71287\" target=\"_blank\">butterflies<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/layersofink.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/textured-elephant-canvas.html\" target=\"_blank\">Anna-Karin<\/a> created texture with scratches on this mixed-media canvas.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/images-blogger-opensocial.googleusercontent.com\/gadgets\/proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com%2F-bUF1OE0sHFc%2FU9JVY1mRXVI%2FAAAAAAAAP4U%2F6Sv3QnsjH1U%2Fs1600%2Felephant%2Bcanvas.jpg&amp;container=blogger&amp;gadget=a&amp;rewriteMime=image%2F*\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Starting with not much of a plan, I made scratches into wet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=40017&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">gesso<\/a>, which ended up looking a little like a landscape. I used a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=49638&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz elephant stamp <\/a>which has a scratchy sketched texture. The third type of scratches is into the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133282&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\"> birds <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=56677&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">letters<\/a> die cut from<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=73694&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\"> foil tape<\/a>. As I cut loose playing with this tag I ended up using a favorite scratchy distress paint on metal technique, as well as having a great time with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=304275\" target=\"_blank\">texture paste<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/search.aspx?keywords=tim distress&amp;pp=96&amp;c=847\" target=\"_blank\">distress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more inspiration click on our design team&#8217;s blog links so you can see more photos (and full supply lists) for their projects.
