What family? The family of distress colors? Your ancestors? Friends you feel are closer than your biological family? The people you share your home with? There are a lot of answers to the question of this week\u2019s challenge – and how you answer our call to creativity is entirely up to you.<\/p>\n

Sandra Mouwen<\/a> would have loved to have pictures of her own ancestors.<\/p>\n

Well I come from two big families, but I don’t have any pictures of my grandparents or their parents. So I’ll have to do the Found Relatives<\/a> to make my family chronicles. I started these pages with inking the edges with Spiced Marmalade<\/a>, Barn Door<\/a> and Walnut Stain<\/a> Distress Inks. To make the background more interesting I stamped randomly with lots of different stamps, like Checkered<\/a> and Cartographer 1<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ashli<\/a> was inspired by her four little girls…<\/p>\n

With our newest addition, we now have four little girls. I was inspired by these photos of them in some dresses my mother made them… four of a kind! Using a negative cut from the Clustered Leaves Die<\/a>, I added patterned paper to show through. With the addition of a Painted<\/a> title, some Sequins<\/a>, and an Amy Tangerine Tag<\/a>, I have my my little family scrapbooked!<\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> made a precious keepsake using a beautiful photograph of her Grandmother.<\/p>\n

I’ve always loved this precious photo of my Grandmother, I just think it’s so beautiful and captures the era so well and this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity to create a frame for the photograph, using Wendy Vecchi’s Embossing Crackle Paste<\/a>. I used the photo as my main focal pint and surrounded it with a Tim Holtz verse<\/a> stamped onto an inked tag<\/a>, paper flowers created with the Tattered Florals die<\/a> and various pieces of Idea-Ology.<\/em><\/p>\n

What is the definition of “Family”? Suzz<\/a> went looking in her old dictionary for inspiration.<\/p>\n

I decided to use an old dictionary for inspiration and pulled out the pages with “Family”, “Sister” and “Brother”. After mixing those together on a card front I went with the fun concept of the family tree and used the DarkRoom Door Trees<\/a> set along with a few birds from the Visual Artistry Lost and Found set<\/a> to blend the definitions together. I think this makes a lovely welcoming card for a new addition to the family.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> thought it was about time she made a necklace again.

\nI was thinking of lockets, where you can keep family photos real close to your heart. Tim Holtz Locket Book <\/a>is a perfect place for precious family photos and it is the centre piece of this necklace. I had fun choosing and altering many different Idea-olgy embellishments, such as: Letterpress Letters<\/a>, Heart Charms<\/a>, Game Pieces<\/a>, and a key<\/a>. My favourite pieces might be the Fragments<\/a> and Facets<\/a> altered with patterned paper<\/a>, rub-ons <\/a>and alcohol ink.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> was inspired to create a family mini album keepsake.<\/p>\n

I chose to create a grungeboard<\/a> mini album featuring an embossed framed<\/a> photo of each of my family members currently residing at home. I enjoyed embellishing each page with 3-D Roses<\/a> and Metal Charms<\/a>. Please feel free to stop by and meet my family.<\/em><\/p>\n

A Summer Family Picnic enticed Michelle <\/a>to create in her art journal.<\/p>\n

A sweetly endearing page from a vintage children’s book is the basis for this page in my art journal. Tim Holtz Stacked Stars <\/a>added sparkle without taking away from the illustration. Woodgrain washi <\/a>and silver pigment ink <\/a>added fun to the page.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> re-purposed a Scrabble tile tray into a photo holder to display her favorite family photos.<\/p>\n

When I saw a half-dead Scrabble game at my local thrift store, I knew it would come in handy! I gave new life to one of the tile trays by making it into a photo holder. It’s fun to switch out the photos or even throw a quote on it from time to time. I made my photo holder with my favorite Tim Holtz alphabet die<\/a>, a stamp from his Winged Things II<\/a> set and some great Memento Luxe inks, like Danube Blue<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> is always inspired by her two children, Natalie and Christopher, to document family memories.<\/p>\n

Documenting family memories was the reason I started crafting. Natalie and Christopher always inspire me to create. On this journal page, I made textures using Modeling Paste<\/a> and Prima Flowers Stencil<\/a>. The background was colored with Gelatos<\/a> and Color Shine<\/a>. I love to decorate my art journal page with Prima Flowers embellishments.<\/em><\/p>\n

When Barbara<\/a> read the theme of this challenge she immediately thought of her family, the most important part of her life.<\/p>\n

I am a very reserved person and usually do not use photos of my loved ones, but this seemed like the perfect opportunity to introduce them to everyone. I made a “photo holder” in my own way, using the tags<\/a>, my beloved distress, something for each family of distress colors , Tim’s stencils<\/a> and Tim’s fabric<\/a>. I would say that in this project I mixed the important things in my life: family and my “art”!<\/em><\/p>\n
