Whether you have a magician\u2019s trick, want to show us a card trick, have a magical product you can\u2019t work without, or perhaps are inspired by a story or movie that has magical elements &#8211; we can\u2019t wait to see! The magic of this challenge is that you can be inspired any way you like\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/snappingmonsters.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/my-other-creations-altered-face-cards.html\" target=\"_blank\">Andrea<\/a> decided to follow in the footsteps of magicians by seeing what she could do with face cards.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/andrea-magic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"700\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Magic tricks always leave me smiling and shaking my head, especially card tricks.  Maybe it&#8217;s because there&#8217;s math and science involved in how they work, but they are beyond my ability to figure out.  Even though I haven&#8217;t performed many card tricks in my day, I can work some magic of my own by altering them!  Cards make great backgrounds for collages, especially if you include Tim Holtz <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71646&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Journeyman tissue tape<\/a> and stamped images from Wendy Vecchi&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=80869&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Label it Art<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71491&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">A Form of Art<\/a> sets.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Do you have a fairy that comes in and magically cleans your kitchen? Neither does <a href=\"http:\/\/michellezerull.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/making-magic-happen.html\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle<\/a>, but she&#8217;s trying to conjure one up with a magic wand.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/michelle_magic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"803\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Wouldn&#8217;t it be wonderful to have a magic wand? My wand may not summon the kitchen fairies, but it does provide me with year-round glittery fun. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=123565&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz Stacked Stars Die<\/a> created numerous stars that nest within each other for lots of shiny options. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=125250&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Idea-ology Mirrored Stars <\/a>fit in the center beautifully. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=125541&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Cosmo Cricket Gold Shimmer Trim<\/a> ties it all together.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dan99.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/a-little-bit-of-magic.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dan&#8217;s<\/a> inspiration this week was one of the classic stage illusions.<\/p>\n<p><em><img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/dan99crafter\/photo-album\/sssMagicCombo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Apart from the obvious card-trick reference, can you guess the other popular illusion I&#8217;ve referenced on my tag?  It&#8217;s &#8220;sawing a woman in half&#8221;!  Among the stamp sets I used were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=101313&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Classics #5<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=92291&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Mixed Media<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=35357&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Creative Muse<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/layersofink.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/a-kind-of-magic.html\" target=\"_blank\">Anna-Karin<\/a> had a song on her brain and let it inspire an art journal page.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/a-kind-of-magic.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"600\" height=\"953\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1602\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/a-kind-of-magic.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/a-kind-of-magic-188x300.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>A Kind of Magic by Queen kept playing over and over in my head and I thought it was a good theme for this challenge. A second element of magic is brought in by the resist technique that I did with Tim Holtz wonderful<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=195102&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\"> Motif cardstock<\/a>, add some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=107245&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Distress Ink <\/a>and you have an instant resist background. The background was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133149&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">stamped<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=132775&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">splattered<\/a>. Interactive elements fit with a magical theme and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133418&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">door<\/a> opens to reveal more journaling. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/craftaddicts-tracyevans.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/a-touch-of-magic.html\" target=\"_blank\">Tracy<\/a> created a magical Artist Trading Block this week with a touch of magic inside.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/magic_tracy1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"735\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>When I think of magic, I always think of card tricks and I also think of the boxes they use in their magic ticks where the doves fly out or the rabbit appears! This lead to me to create a box which I feel in itself holds a little magic as you never know what&#8217;s inside, all part of the surprise. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=109344&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz Valentine Blueprint<\/a> stamp came to my rescue for the playing card image and the Queen of Hearts takes centre stage on my Artist Trading Block. I love the hidden surprises a box can give!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/purplemailbox.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/a-magical-banner.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ashli<\/a> was inspired to put some of Heidi Swapp&#8217;s Color Magic to use for this week&#8217;s challenge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/Ashli-Oliver-Simon-Says-Stamp-Challenge-Magic-Banner-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"328\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Not too long ago, I created a name banner for my oldest daughter. Now, it&#8217;s the second oldest&#8217;s turn! Using the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=106788&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Heidi Swapp Color Magic Tags<\/a>, along with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=106768&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Color Shine Mist<\/a>, I created some lovely custom pieces to layer up with my tag. Some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=135107&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Crate Paper Chipboard Shapes<\/a> complete this cute little name banner for my girl.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madebysannie.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/its-magic.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra Mouwen<\/a> played around with crackle paste on her card to create some magic<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/dev.smouwen.nl\/blog\/include\/images\/blog_images\/%23SSSDT\/2014\/IMG_3871a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"410\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Don&#8217;t you agree that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64640\/Wendy-Vecchi-crackled-\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Crackle Paste<\/a> is like magic? I love how the crackles appear when the paste dries. It was a bit of a struggle to get the paste on the die cut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-63644\/SSSD111322-big-hugs-hug\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Hugs<\/a>, but with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-64577\/MDA41771-PALETTE-KNIVES-KNIFE\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Palette Knife<\/a> and some determination I got the job done. To give it a little sparkle I used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/servlet\/the-49744\/00791-GOLD-LAME-GOLDEN\/Detail\" target=\"_blank\">Heidi Swapp Gold Lam\u00e9 Color Shine<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cupcakescreations.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/cherish.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mona<\/a> created some magic using Distress embossing powder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/magic_mona.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"764\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>I think there is something magical about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=33276\" target=\"_blank\">Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder<\/a>. I&#8217;m always in awe with the rusty aged metal appearance that may be easily achieved in just a few steps by layering <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=111480\" target=\"_blank\">Rusty Hinge Distress Paint<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=141819\" target=\"_blank\">Distress embossing ink<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=33276\" target=\"_blank\">Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder<\/a>. Quite magical don&#8217;t you think?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stickydots.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/could-it-be-magic-simon-says-stamp.html\" target=\"_blank\">Emma<\/a> created a burlap canvas full of fairy magic.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/magic_emma.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"773\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>For my magical <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=112256&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">burlap panel<\/a>, I created an ethereal backdrop by using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133484&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Shabby Shutters <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133492&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tumbled Glass Distress Paints<\/a> over Tissue Wrap. As the focal point, I used the mannequin from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71127&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Sewing Room die<\/a>, added some wings covered in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=193441&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter<\/a> and surrounded her with crackled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=71626&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">corked vials<\/a> full of fairy dust.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/suzzstampingspot.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/magic.html\" target=\"_blank\">Suzz <\/a> heard the word magic and it reminded her of a class she was teaching where the student said &#8220;It&#8217;s Magic!&#8221; when they were creating their card.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/05\/magic-suzz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>During one of my classes a student described the technique we were using as magic which inspired me to spend a day playing with the technique.  I enjoy making backgrounds and this technique is great for embossing folders and dye inks. I used my favorite Anna Griffin Rose folder along with Ripe Persimmons and Picked Raspberry.  Sounds like a picnic to me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/meihsia.blogspot.com\/2014\/06\/believe-in-magic-art-journal.html\" target=\"_blank\">Meihsia<\/a> decided to use glitter to create her magical art journal page.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/Meihsia-Liu-Simply-Paper-Crafts-Art-Journal-Face-Mixed-Media-Magic-600.jpg\" alt=\"Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts Art Journal Face Mixed Media Magic 600\" width=\"600\" height=\"791\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/Meihsia-Liu-Simply-Paper-Crafts-Art-Journal-Face-Mixed-Media-Magic-600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.simonsaysstampblog.com\/mondaychallenge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/06\/Meihsia-Liu-Simply-Paper-Crafts-Art-Journal-Face-Mixed-Media-Magic-600-227x300.jpg 227w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Glitter makes everything magical and it also adds sparkle and imagination on my art journal page this week. After drawing my dreamy girl on the page and coloring it with<a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=194822&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\"> Gelatos<\/a>, I applied <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=68310&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz Distress Stickles<\/a> on the girl&#8217;s long hair. The edges of this art journal page were stamped with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simonsaysstamp.com\/product.aspx?id=133147&amp;c=0\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Holtz Cling Stamps 2014 Cracks and Speck<\/a>.
