The pages of a children’s book served as Ashli’s<\/a> inspiration this week:<\/p>\n

The gorgeous illustrations from The Quiltmaker Books are some of my all time favorites. But, one must never judge a book by it’s cover as this proved to be quite the challenge for me! With plenty of Gesso<\/a>, Watercolor<\/a>, and Daydreamer embellishments<\/a>, I eventually ended up with a layout I love.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dan<\/a> was inspired by imagery from the golden age of Soviet propaganda this week.<\/p>\n

As I worked on this I thought to myself “I hope no one else is making something based on poster art from Russia’s communist heyday!” My luck was in, none of my team-mates used a similar theme on their beautiful projects, phew. On a trip to Australia a while back I picked up a book full of reproductions of propaganda posters from the old Soviet Union and I find the style of the images, bold and graphic, so striking. With that in mind, this tag is my attempt at a similar style. Stamps I used included<\/em> Big Top<\/a>, Mixed Media<\/a> and Psychedelic Grunge<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tracy<\/a> is busy with making for special occasions at the moment and this week she is celebrating her sons 18th Birthday.<\/p>\n

My son Ryan is 18 this year and I decided to create him an alternative to a birthday card and opted for a wall hanging with an industrial feel. Ranger Metal Foil Tape<\/a> was perfect to give the industrial feel to my creation, covering my numbers 18 with the tape and embossing with the Tim Holtz Riveted Metal Texture Fade<\/a>. Teenagers are hard to please so I am hoping my son is suitably impressed! <\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> was inspired to create a greeting card for a special friend.<\/p>\n

I think it’s important to remind our friends who much we appreciate them and a homemade greeting card made from the heart is a perfect way to do just that. I wanted to create a feminine shabby vibe so I combined a delicate die cut butterfly<\/a>and wreath<\/a> with pretty pastel papers from the Wallflower collection<\/a>. I think this card will bring a smile to my friend’s face.<\/em><\/p>\n

Sandra Mouwen<\/a> made some handy things for her city trip to Barcelona

\nI sure did! A few weeks back I was in Barcalona and I made some handy stuff. Such as this matchbook for taking quick short notes. I don’t always remember the order of the things that happen, so I wanted something to write it down in. Tim Holtz’ larger Matchbook die<\/a> is perfect for that. I also made a folder to store the entrance and flight tickets in. Last but not least I made a folder\/binder to that holds the city maps, schedule, and other handy stuff that needed to be easy accessible. All three items are made out of Kraft Cardstock and decorated with the beautiful Teresa Collins Stencil<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anything Goes inspired Suzz<\/a> to play with her new crackle Embossing Paste. <\/a><\/p>\n

I had some new crackle paste sitting on my desk begging me to try it out. I like to try new techniques and tools on a tag because it is a smaller surface. The Penny Black Promenade stencil<\/a> provided a nice area in the silhouette to get the effect of the crackle paste. After the paste dried I used the pretty cornflower blue Glimmer Mist <\/a> to color my flowers and sponging with a brown dye ink to highlight the crackle. I had so much fun with the first tag I created a second one using layering of pasted flowers and stamped flowers.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> created some summer fun projects for her children.<\/p>\n

This week, I created three mixed media canvas boards for my children to display on their desks. After stamping the images with Tim Holtz Cling Rubber Stamps Mini Blueprints<\/a> and Memento Tuxedo Black ink<\/a>, I applied Distress Paints<\/a> on them. The background of these canvas boards was also colored with Distress Paints.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> was in the mood for colour, and made two happy tags.<\/p>\n

I love the Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Stars Parade<\/a> and Butterfly Drift <\/a>dies, and just had to use them as soon as I got them. They were made the focal point of two inky tags, on a background with a resist effect using the Sketched Alphabet stamp set <\/a>and Dylusions mist<\/a>. A few wood veneer embellishments <\/a>and die cut sentiments <\/a>and the tags were done.<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle<\/a> is a sucker for new paper.<\/p>\n

When my children were little I would spend days canning jellies and jams. The BasicGrey Herbs and Honey <\/a>papers are loaded with fun vintage images and patterns that pair nicely with the Sizzix 3-D Food Jar Die.<\/a> I can easily craft numerous jars of sweet treats in a fraction of the time that I had spent canning. Yum!<\/em><\/p>\n

I (May<\/a>) will use any excuse to play with damask stamps.<\/p>\n

Seriously – I love these stamps<\/a>! So tell me ‘anything goes’ and I will go off and grab them! I had a lot of fun coloring with distress<\/a> and building layers of color on this tag. I just love the intricate detail and how much fun the damask stamp set is.<\/p>\n

Andrea <\/a>decided to go with a writing theme for this week’s challenge.<\/p>\n

Writing is one of my favorite hobbies and being the book geek that I am, I decided to pay homage to writing with these fun little envelopes and faux pens. The envelopes were a snap to make with the Simon Says Stamp Gift Envelope die<\/a> and the Tim Holtz pen nibs<\/a>.<\/p>\n
