From soft buttery yellow to electric neon – this week Anna-Karin challenges you to be inspired by yellow!<\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> created the spring art journal pages using her favorite inks.

\nYellow reminds me of the beautiful sunshine in the garden in the spring. I colored the background of these journal pages with Gelatos<\/a> and Izink inks<\/a>. The Simon Says Stamp Die Cut Hearts<\/a> were connected with stitches and Tim Holtz Life Quotes Remnant Rubs<\/a> sentiment was added on the tissue wrap<\/a> and glued on the page using modeling paste<\/a>. I love to have some pretty butterflies<\/a> in the garden.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin<\/a> made a very happy yellow layout.

\nI love yellow and it is such a happy colour. For this week, I made a layout using painted sticky-back canvas<\/a> as my background and stitched die cut circles <\/a>to it. I used some new great stamps <\/a>by Tim Holtz and yellow Archival Inks <\/a>to create a tone-on-tone effect on the background. A Picture Wheel <\/a>adds a playful feeling and there are also stamped Clearly For Art Modeling Film<\/a>, vellum<\/a> and Idea-ology <\/a>embellishments.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tracy<\/a> opted for a chunky ATC this week to showcase her new found love for yellow!<\/p>\n

To be honest I rarely use yellow in my creative pieces and I don’t know why but I think there are always colours that we tend to not be drawn towards and for me it’s yellow. However, after making this piece I have a new found love for yellow! I painted a chunky ATC with Mustard Seed Distress Paint<\/a> and decided to combine with touches of blue in my Design. The girl from the Winged Things 1<\/a> takes centre stage in my design.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nI sure do! I think they compliment each other very well. I made this tag starting by creating the background with the Chunky Chevron<\/a> stencil and Lemon Zest<\/a> spray. I love the new Distress Marker Spritzer<\/a> and used it with Dot Fade<\/a> stencil and Spiced Marmelade<\/a> marker. The City Skyline<\/a> stamp is so pretty and used it on the bottom of the tag.<\/em><\/p>\n

Suzz<\/a> pulled out all the yellows in her collection of paints, mists, and inks to play with for the challenge this week.<\/p>\n

I love yellow, but it often gets left behind when I am creating and I was happy we were asked to create using yellow this week. It inspired me to create a decorative wall plaque full of sunny shades of yellow. I started with a coat of gesso<\/a> to cover the green plaque. I then sprayed on a pretty layer of yellow with the Tattered Angels – Glimmer Mist – Sun Sisters<\/a>. I offset my yellows with the Ranger Archival Ink – Watering Can<\/a> which was used to create my Fine Feathered Friend using the Stampers Anonymous Bird Feather Set<\/a>. I now have a wonderful ray of sunshine to hang in my craft room for the rainy days of spring.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> created a tag featuring a trio of yellow die cut blossoms along with a yellow die cut song bird.<\/p>\n

The color yellow reminds me of signs of Spring ~ newly blossomed flowers and sweet little birds chirping about which was my source of inspiration to create my tag. I added texture to the Ranger Manila tag<\/a> using the Bricked Texture Fade<\/a>, applied a thin coat of Gesso<\/a> then added color using mustard seed<\/a> and scattered straw<\/a> Distress Inks followed with more texture using Tim Holtz Doily stencil<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> created a burst of sunshine on the covers of her artist’s journal book.<\/p>\n

Yellow reminds me of my garden as it bursts into life during Spring and I wanted to emulate that on the cover of my artist’s journal and used a combination of Distress Paints<\/a> and PaperArtsy Fresco Finish<\/a> paints to get wonderful tones of this sunshine colour. After applying some of Wendy Vecchi’s Embossing Paste<\/a> through a Layering Stencil for texture, I stamped the image of the swallow from the Bird Feather stamp<\/a> set and added Remnant Rubs, Idea-Ology and some die cut flowers and foliage using the Tattered Florals<\/a> die and Garden Greens<\/a>. The whole book was bound using The Cinch<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle<\/a> created an embroidered sampler celebrating the color yellow.<\/p>\n

I’ve always had a fondness for this sunny color, so I created an embroidered sampler to celebrate yellow. I began with a Watercolor Paper <\/a>background using Distress Markers in Mustard Seed <\/a>and Wild Honey<\/a>. Snippets of bits and pieces, such as Tim Holtz Found Relatives Portraits<\/a>, were added as well as stamped doodles from Prima’s Free Spirit Cling Stamp Set.<\/a> Embroidered additions were added with We R Memory Keepers Yellow Floss<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The first thing that comes to Ashli’s <\/a>mind when she think of yellow is sunshine…<\/p>\n

That’s right! Sunshine and yellow go hand in hand, but the morning and I do not. So, this was the perfect week to scrap up a page all about that. Using the Frag Stencil<\/a>, which reminds me of a sun, along with plenty of Modeling Paste <\/a>and Ink<\/a>, I was able to work up this mixed media layout in no time!<\/em><\/p>\n

Dan’s<\/a> mind wandered to the topic of dreams this week.<\/p>\n

I love that time of year when it’s “new stamp” time, don’t you? I decided this week to have a play with some of the new Tim Holtz releases. One of the sets is called “Daydream” and although I haven’t used it here, the name sent me down a dreambound path (or maybe nightmare might be closer to the mark?) Stamp sets I used here included Big Top<\/a>, Cracks & Specks<\/a> and Classics #18<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> used yellow to create a whimsical Spring flower tree.<\/p>\n

I’m so grateful to Anna-Karin for this week’s “yellow” theme. For some reason, it’s not a color I focus on very often, so I appreciated the chance to incorporate it into my project. Since it reminded me of Spring and all the beautiful flowers in bloom, I created this collaged Flower Tree using Prima’s Sunrise Sunset paper<\/a>, Bazzill’s Vintage Lace paper<\/a> and Martha Stewart’s Hydrangea<\/a> punches.<\/em><\/p>\n

This week I (May<\/a>) am\u00a0 loving yellow inks!<\/p>\n

With my butterfly stamps<\/a>, new lovely lemon ink pad<\/a>, and some cardstock I just began to emboss and play. I had so much fun blending textures, colors, and layering elements onto this tag. This isn’t a color I use much – but now I see that I should because I love the energy it brings into my project!<\/p>\n
