Whether it is a background, large image, pattern, or maybe just a big stamp pad – this week the challenge\u00a0is all about the big stamp.<\/p>\n

Dan’s<\/a> starting point for his imagination this week was the psychiatrist’s booth from the Peanuts comic strip.<\/p>\n

\nI can’t recall ever having been given bad financial advice and I don’t think that all bankers are clowns, but there must be something bubbling in my subconscious this week because this is what I came up with. The big stamp I’ve used is the Wide Stripes Background<\/a> stamp from Simon Says Stamp. It’s a full 6″ x 6″, such a useful size. In general I prefer large stamps, you can do so much more with them. Obviously, with this theme I was always going to find something useful on the Big Top<\/a> stamp set and the Chemist<\/a> stamp came in handy too.<\/em><\/p>\n

Andrea<\/a> repeated one of her favorite big stamps to create visual interest in the background of her Hope collage.<\/p>\n

I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am to finally see signs of Spring. I love the kaleidoscope of colors and sense of renewal that this time of year brings. I wanted to pull those Spring feelings into this collage, but I also wanted to keep it grounded. The perfect solution? Wendy Vecchi’s big Vintage Pricing Chart background stamp<\/a>. I used it with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink<\/a>, which I thought contrasted nicely to the softer tones of the Prima Sunrise Sunset paper <\/a>I used as my base.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anna-Karin <\/a>loves large stamps since they are so versatile.<\/p>\n

\nI too was in a spring mood and made a mini-book with some spring memories. I used large background stamps from Darkroom Door<\/a>, Distress Paint <\/a>and my Gelli Plate <\/a>to make my own background papers. The papers were stamped with more images and textures, fitting with the theme. I embellished my pages with Kelly Purkey washi tape<\/a>, Tim Holtz tissue tape <\/a>and die cuts by Simon Says Stamps <\/a>and Sizzix<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mona<\/a> loves to create backgrounds and add faux texture to her projects using big stamps.<\/p>\n

I was so excited because the big stamp challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to ink up both of the Tim Holtz Cracks & Specks<\/a> big stamps. I added texture and design to the canvas background using the Specks<\/a> big stamp along with Picket Fence Distress Paint<\/a> and Jet Black<\/a> ink. I added a faux crackle appearance to the die cut and painted Artful Dwellings<\/a> using the Cracks<\/a>big stamp along with Vintage Photo Distress Ink<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tracy<\/a> has taken BIG to a whole new level this week with her quirky canvas.<\/p>\n

I decided to use the large ruler background stamp from Tim Holtz Artful Tools<\/a> stamp set. However just because we are using large stamps this week does not mean we have to use the whole image, so I decided to use a large stamp in a small way, adding it to my background on my canvas, stamped with Black Arcvhial Ink<\/a>. Big is beautiful this week showcased with my HUGE Tattered Floral cut from corrugated card for added texture and dimension, cut using the wonderful Jumbo Tattered Floral Die<\/a>. I love the mix of elements and layers on this piece!<\/em><\/p>\n

Ashli<\/a> decided to put a new stamp to the test for her card this week.<\/p>\n

With a new little one, I am lucky to be needing lots of thank you notes these days. So, I decided to put this adorable girl from the Dear Lizzy Daydreamer Stamp Set<\/a> to use in a big way as the feature on my thank you card! Using Spun Sugar<\/a>, Broken China<\/a>, and Pumice Stone Distress<\/a> Inks, I was able to create a soft and lovely image with this fabulous stamp! A little hand crafted prize banner of scraps, finishes off the first of many thank you cards that I have the pleasure of needing to make.<\/em><\/p>\n

Suzz <\/a> has folded up a card featuring many big stamps.<\/p>\n

I love big stamps and wanted a project that would allow me to use a variety of big stamps in an unusual and fun way. My card looks small but unfolds into a mix of patterns. The focal point of the card is a birthday celebration using the Simon Says Stamp Exclusive – Happy Every Day<\/a>. I accented the cover with stars cut from the Simon Says Stamp – Large Holiday Shapes<\/a> and tissue paper curled and colored using the pretty Heidi Swapp – Citron Color Shine<\/a>. This card is already on it’s way to a teenager celebrating their 17th birthday.<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelle<\/a> tried to look at her stamps in a new way.<\/p>\n

I explored using my stamps in a new way and created a mixed media college in my art journal<\/a>. I used the Drawn Heart Background <\/a>and Tiny Flower Clusters <\/a>stamps as a means for creating marks rather than images. It was a refreshing experiment in utilizing white space.<\/em><\/p>\n

Emma<\/a> used a big text stamp to create her background for this romantic shabby chic card.<\/p>\n

My card is a celebration of love and friendship and I couldn’t think of a more fitting stamp to use than the Friend Definition background from Hero Arts<\/a>, stamped onto Manila card<\/a> which was inked with various colours of Distress Stains<\/a>. I added a metal die cut and embossed heart from the Tim Holtz Love Struck Die set by Sizzix<\/a>, complete with the Idea-Ology Sprocket Gears<\/a> and spinner attached to the centre. The crinkle ribbon is dyed with Victorian Velvet Distress Stain to match my heart perfectly and to complete the card, I stamped the wonderful Wendy Vecchi quote from the Lovely Art stamp set<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Sandra Mouwen<\/a> is ready for the summer

\nWhen I saw the big and beautiful Joy Bloom<\/a> stamp from Prima Marketing it reminded me of a song from the band Reef called Summer’s in Bloom. I started with covering the pages with Gesso<\/a> and began playing with my Gelatos<\/a>. I love the drippage effect. I made some dimension in it with the Chevron<\/a> and Bubbles<\/a> Stencils. The arrows are made with Gesso<\/a> I colored black. It was a bit to thin, but I love the effect.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meihsia<\/a> created a wall hanging using a big stamp this week.<\/p>\n

\nI altered a large heart shaped wall hanging with Tim Holtz Cling Rubber Stamp<\/a> to remind myself to be a fearless individual. This chipboard was covered with Heidi Swapp Serendipity Cardstock Collection<\/a> and stamped with Memento Ink Pad Tuxedo Black.<\/a> The Tim Holtz Arrows Adornments Metal Charm<\/a>, Prima Flowers<\/a> and Say It in Crystals<\/a> were attached on this project. This wall hanging reminds me to amaze myself everyday.<\/em><\/p>\n
